Long Room, Ladbroke Grove & Kensal (Bar)
“This bar seems somehow misplaced in the queens park area. Put it anywhere east and people would kill - or at least queue - to get into this warehouse sized, bright, beautifully designed space. Recent noticable changes are a shorter, snazzier italo menu, DJ's on selected nights and later opening hours [0:30am]. Unchanged are the well made cocktails, pizza specials, friendly staff & reasonable prices.”

“If you think about how much ka-ching walks by the king's door every day [hampstead high street, darling] it is surprising how unspoilt this pub still is - not a fusiony nibble, sauteed prawn or chocolate souffle in sight. Instead the atmosphere is relaxed, and it sometimes gets a bit noisy with the many different nights they host [hula party in february - genius] great place to drink & not be rushed.”

Babel, Clapham (Bar)
“So glad i found this laid-back bar that's trendy enough to attract interesting people; fun, fast, attentive barstaff devoid of attitude [so important - it really annoys me when I get served by someone sour-faced, ignorant & deliberately slow] and ever changing pages of fresh fruit cocktails great for my kind of vitamin intake. Highly recommended.”

Nordic Bar, Fitzrovia (Bar / Restaurant)
“I went to Nordic twice in about 6 months. The first time I went there, I was very excited to try the assortment of drinks, especially since a well-situated sign on the bar indicates a policy of making all drinks with double portions of alcohol unless specifically asked for. Unfortunately, on the particular weeknight that I went, my brother and I seemed to be the only guests. The next time I went with a group of people and hardly recognized it as the same bar. It was full with a fun crowd of good looking people and cool music. We proceeded to try pretty much every drink that they had available and set the foundation for a great night. Fun barstaff; at one point the bartender invited the guys in the group behind the bar to watch the ladies down a specially made shot. All said and done, great bar!”

“This restuarant seems to think its a nightclub. The music so loud I couldn't hear anyone at my table without shouting. The staff were unhelpful and only interested in getting people in and out as quick as possible. 3 course dinner was over in less than an hour and the bill brought to the table in a not so subtle gesture to get us to leave, which we were only happy to do. As for food don't expect anything too special. The set menu is basic and rather stingy in proportion and quality! Cocktails are poor and most of our glasses were dirty. ”

“A lovely experience at the Catcher in the Rye, the Staff are warm and friendly, the decor well matched. Noticed that there is a sign saying over 21's only, with a great mix of people. Food was very tasty. I had the chicken Fajitas great portion sizes. A must for anyone with taste.”

The Crown Tavern, Clerkenwell (Bar)
“Meeting friends at The Crown is always a delight on a rainy Saturday afternoon, even more so than on hot summer days. The range of Belgian and fruit beers delight the palate, and should you find their alcohol content leaves you lightheaded, the range of bar snack and meals are toothsome and satisfying. The staff are extremely friendly and the place has the atmosphere of a country village pub - albeit with and urban upmarket bohemianism that reminds you you are just around the corner from Fabric and Turnmills superclubs, seated right in the heart of the media/design/IP/advertising hub that is Farringdon. Highly recommended for its unique blend of old world charm, public house relaxed ethos, absence of pretentious fittings and creative crowd. ”

Freud, West End (Bar)
“Perhaps one of the best bars in London when it opened, but now with the explosion in amazing venues Freud is still managing to hold its own. The mojitos are perhaps the best i've tasted, but be sure to try the Aztec too for a real firey chocolate treat. Love the decor, layout and the fact its still a hidden gem. Oh, and food is good too.”

“Avoid like Jeremy Clarkson on a weekend evening - the management fill the place far beyond its legal capacity and the constant barging through the crowds often leads to fighting. If you like sweating in an over-price, pretentious matchbox that plays crap music to goatee-bearded wankers, this is the bar for you. £3.50 for a beer - can you really justify spending that amount when there are children out there starving?”

“This is a great restaurant. The staff were really friendly and attentive and the food was really good. Many restaurants these days seem in a rush to get people in and out quickly, but here I felt very welcome and we were able to take our time eating. Will definitely be going back to Uno.”

“Some friends of mine had been saying for ages that I 'Must' go to Piano and the other night I went with them. Oh wow oh wow! It was amazing! What a great night! I met Baz the owner who's a superb pianist/entertainer. He created such a great atmosphere and introduced this amazing guy who brought the house down with his unique beatbox style. Man he could groove! The whole evening was full of surprises. Great music, great vibe. Everyone loved it. And the food wasn't bad either! If this isn't THE best bar in London I don't know what is. ”

“This place was great for St. Patricks Day. I am from the United States but I studied in London and was there last year. The food is good and the beer selection is good and not too expensive. There was also great live music and a large amount of attractive University girls from the local school. Definitely worth stumbling into.”

Club Aquarium, City of London (Bar / Club)
“Do NOT go to Club Aquarium. Came to London with my boyfriend to meet up with friends and having heard of Club Aquarium wanted to check it out. Phoned the booking line and booked 4 tickets for a saturday night - at no time were we warned that dressing up was compulsory. Arrived at the club excited and in need of a drink after a chinese in china town. With tickets already booked got shepherded into the "tickets already booked" queue, which was short... we then waited over half an hour... only to be told by the very rude girl on the door that we couldn't enter as we weren't in fancy dress! On pointing out, quite calmly, that we'd already bought tickets, she refused to talk to us and walked off. She came back and compromised that two of us wearing something vaguely 70's could enter but not the other two! what use was that we asked? She then started getting quite nasty before turning and letting other people in that weren't wearing anything 70's! There was a friendly guy at the door but he couldn't help us as the girl was the girlfriend of one of the owners. After it was clear she wasn't budging, we insisted that we got a re-fund. She marked my name on the guest list and guaranteed we'd be re-funded. Two months later NO Refund. Can you believe it?! On phoning, the club were absolutely no help! If that's the way they treat their customers I strongly recommend you stay well clear of Club Aquarium - waste of time and money and they're Liars. There are much better venues in Shoreditch”
