Great place. Lovely, attentive and freidly staff and great food. Always a good night to be had there. More Atmosphere: Value: Quality:

The Exhibit, Balham (Bar / Restaurant)
“Goodness me - don't believe the hype! I have lived in Balham for 5 years and, whilst the food at The Exhibit is consisently good, the service is amateurish; on my last visit on 17 May, the food was gorgeous but we sat for 20 minutes before we were even offered a drink. Inter course service, so to speak, was not much better and certainly there is no comaparison to the slick, attentive and professional service at Balham Bar and Kitchen. Generally, a good restaurant but could do a lot better! ”

“The staff in here are so miserable, you get the feeling they'd rather be on the other side of the bar. Lunchtime food took 45 mins to arrive and was mediocre when it did.”

“Me and three of my friends paid the Grand Union a visit on Saturday night, and we weren't disappointed! The food was amazing (i recommend the bangers and mash!) and really reasonably priced. The bar area was lively, with fab music and a great atmosphere! I thoroughly recommend the Grand Union for fun and funky night out!!”

“retoxbar proves size doesn't matter. It may be small but the drinks, staff, food are all perfect. A great place for an intimate gathering. Would have prefered a bit more pop in the music though!”

“Awesome bar, location staff!! One of the best days out ever. Only bad thing i can say is that when its hot don't expect 5 star serviec, cause you can't fit enough staff in that building to look after the jampacked outside area. DJ racked up some awesome tunes. When its hot get there early, eat and then just lay back andenjoy sipping your pims and lemonade soaking up the sun.”

Cafe de Paris, West End (Bar / Restaurant / Club)
“Went to Café de Paris for a meal & a dance to celebrate my forthcoming wedding… What a MISTAKE. They told us they opened at 6 but we had to wait until they opened at 7. The meal we ordered proved to be, at best, mediocre. For £60/head I strongly advise you to go to any of the myriad of excellent restaurants in London. Opt for somewhere where the chef knows the difference between a soufflé and a mousse, and where they have a restaurant wine list (not a “family” restaurant list at exploitative prices.) At the end of the meal the 12.5% tip was automatically added to our bill, yet the waitress became very moody about our decision not to pay her a further tip. Next, the entertainment. Great double bassist and pianist; but the Frank Sinatra impersonator was appalling. My grandad gives a more impressive rendition after a few glasses of wine. Finally, the club. Being a hen night, my friends had brought along a little tiara for me. We were quickly told "no headwear". I asked if I could speak to their GM. “The Manager” arrived and re-iterated what had been said. I asked if (were I a Jewish guy) they would have problems with me wearing the kippot. Their response: 1) I would be told to remove it & 2) They HAVE told people to remove their religious headwear. A most depressing end to a miserable evening. So please. If you like good food, good wine, good service, good music or certainly if you think that people have the right to wear religious dress PLEASE BOYCOTT THIS PLACE.”

“I love The Victoria. Since it changed hands and had a re-fit, it's become my favourite pub in the area. It has wicked food every day and night with massive all day brunch on saturdays and roasts on Sundays - perfect for a hangover. Real ales, coffee, sport, papers, sofas, non-smoking section, outside tables, pool...what more could you want? Oh yes, Boogie the dog, a Sunday quiz, and good staff behind the bar.”

Saravanas, Willesden (Restaurant)
“Saravanas interior is pretty awful, but the food certainly makes up for it, its genuine southern Indian food. It tastes of fresh spices and everyone I take there loves it, particularly because its prices are so reasonable.”

Mahdi Restaurant, Hammersmith (Restaurant)
“The menu at Mahdi is one of the best I've seen in Iranian/Persian restaurants. Normally the choice is limited to a cholo kabab but here you have a lot of other great Iranian dishes (like fesenjoon) that you can try. The quality of the food was good, the price reasonable (under £20 pp) and the service efficient. The decor is traditional yet minimalist with paintings from the great Iranian miniaturist Mahmoud Farshchian covering several walls. So overall I would definitely recommend this restaurant.”

The Far Side, Brixton (Bar)
“I stumbled on this place when I first moved to the area and was trying to find my way around. It's Sunday lunches are unmatched this side of 'what your mother used to cook' and its staff are friendly without making your head hurt with toothy smiles. The music they put on is unobtrusive and mellow, matching the chilled out comfort of the surroundings. A small screen shows sports and you can generally pick the channel you want. Ideal for those who want to keep an eye on the game whilst pretending to listen to ‘her’ talk about Big Brother. There’s a good line up of local live music to drink along to and the obligatory DJ on the weekend. If I was to be a regular of anywhere, this is where it would be. I'm a fan, and so should you be.”

3ONE7 Bar, Hampstead (Bar)
“Went to 3 One 7 on a Friday night with two girls and a guy and we had a really good time. The drinks are well priced and the atmosphere is second to none. There’s a DJ who plays a bit of cheese to start but then as the night goes on he plays up to date dance music and if you ask nicely what ever you want (Best to get the lady to ask!) Pool tables without a long wait, and flat screens all over the place keeping you up to date with the sports scores. All in all I’d have to give 3 one 7 8 out of ten. The only reason it didn’t get ten is because of the grumpy door men (if you look under 20 you’ll need ID) Great night out!!!”

“A wonderful traditional pub on the river, good quialty food and a huge garden with ample seating for the summer. A very enjoyable place for a few drinks with friends, not packed to the hilt like the Old Ship or The Dove. Fun quiz on a Sunday night and live music every Thursday makes the Black Lion my favourite pub on the river. Check it out. You'll be pleasantly surprised.”

“I have to agree with all the above posts, the EGG rocks like no other, went there on a Sat and left Sun afternoon. People great and no one has there head stuck up there a** and the music at another level with the best in Electronic house and deep down n dirty house, this place was a F**KEN hitter and would recommend to anyone who is looking for a night or 2 in 1 to head over there....”

“Barabara, I have to say that what you call a "faschist view", I would call a "blessing in disguise". Don't get me wrong, I love kids and have nieces and nephews, but the pub just isn't the place for them. The Canonbury serves great food and drinks and has a lovely area out the back, great on summers days. Making this an adults playground as opposed to a kids one was a smart move, sorry Barbara!!”

The Dove, Hammersmith (Bar)
“It's a good oldy worldy pub but don't go there to eat. Service took over 40 mins. My partner had a steak and ale pie which had more of a shortcrust pastry than the nice light fluffy puff pastry and the gravy was more like water. I had a grilled salmon salad. It was in fact a plate of salad with a few flakes of salmon - I would bet that there was perhaps less than 100g (ie less than half a pack of M&S salmon flakes). Each of these was £8.95, so an absolute rip-off.”
