Recent bar & restaurant customer reviews in London

Masaledar 121 Upper Tooting Road, Tooting, London, SW17 7TJ (Map)

I've lived in Tooting for about 8 years now and this is definitely the best Indian restaurant in the area. The recent refurbishment has made it quite a cool place to hang out too: the glass-covered kitchen... More Atmosphere: Value: Quality:

Mama Calabar, Wembley (Restaurant)
“As former regular while it was at Kilburn a lot has been improved in terms of customer service and the quality of food and the atmosphere but a lot still need to be improved. The food is overpriced and the waiting time should be improve. However the politweness and coutesy of the staff is highly commended. I am so proud this a nigerian restuarant. Well done guys.”

The Sun Inn, Barnes & Sheen (Bar)
“This pub is and always was run by a large brewery. Six Continants. It is still popular but very tatty looking on a second glance. The bar area is always full of rubbish and empty bottles and coffee cups. Plates stay on the table far too long after eating and the bar staff seem to be more interested in finishing the shift and chatting than customer service. The food is overpriced and usually overcooked. Manager, Who's that? When you actually get to see them could be better presentated. The pub also stinks of drains which is off putting. There is not a garden area but a front seating area and a back area placed in the middle of the car park with heat lamps that are always broken.”

Massala, Epsom & Cobham (Restaurant)
“Just read your review and felt compelled to add my own comments. I live in Cobham and have dined at Massala a number of times. I can only say that we are very lucky to have this restaurant on our doorsteps. I have dined in fine restaurants across the planet, and more Indian restaurants than I can possibly ever remember, including most of the Michelin starred restaurants in London. Massala ranks amongst the best of them, at a fraction of their prices. I had lamb chops recently in Tamarind London at an eye watering price of £27 plus service. I had these recently in Massala at under £9 and I think the quality of the lamb was better at Massala. The nan bread at Massala is probably the best I have ever tasted. I love the taste of charcoal on it. The gourmet platter is what I think you also had, and that is just out of thiw world. The trouble is on some Fridays or Saturdays, you cannot get a table unless you have booked, and my fear is that everyone might just find out about it.”

“Hired Imbibe for my husbands 40th birthday and couldn't have picked a better venue! The staff were incredibly helpful, organised and friendly, and ran my party exactly how i wanted. I couldn't recommend a better venue for a party in central london. Thanks again to everyone for making it such a special night, one not to be forgotten!”

“The DJ didnt play one song till the end and decided he wanted to shout with an echo effect over the whole thing. 3 quid to get in i think is the hugest rip off seen as it is always empty, bar staff are unreliable, drink prices are over the top, management are rude and the music is terrible along with a terrible DJ this place isnt worth paying a penny to get into!”

“Awful place, abysmal night. I normally don't take a blind bit of notice of these review sites as me and my wife travel all over the world off our own steam, however feel compelled to add a review. What should have been an awsome anniversary date was marred by dismissive, disinterested restaurant staff, uncooperative bar staff who don't seem to know the etiquette of first come first serve (unlike the US), cattle herding security and awful food - dry, bland, colorless (all brown, save for a half tomato). And we payed over 30 bucks a head for this stuff! You guys sure have some major problems and I warn others not to go near this place. It sucks.”

“Went to Dego' Restaurant for lunch and try their set menu.Very good value for money, friendly and professional service. Fresh products, the only thing I can complain about the homemade bread is the focaccia a bit dry. Might want to go again and try their a la carte.”

“Where "we don't have any booths available" translates as "you are going to have to sit outside, we are going to take 10 minutes to take your order, we are then going to lose your order twice before serving up your food 30 minutes later, and only after being chased for a third time, and then we are going to get shitty when you enquire whether the food has been sitting around awaiting collection. And after all that we're going to automatically add 12.5% service charge to your bill and sulk when you ask for it to be removed." The food is okay but the service is severely lacking - and it was only a mid-week lunch. Go next door to Leon!!”

“Ooooh Ninetyeight! I was there on Saturday and it was awesome. It's a like a fairytale with alcohol and good music, and great cocktails too. We were drinking these mad pink mohitos, which were possibly the best I've ever had (and I've had a few!). And re the above review - Delia, come on, seriously, 'the cocktails aren't quiet as good as Saf' Hello? Saf is a vegan restaurant, and Ninetyeight is a cocktail bar through and through - that's what they do - that's their SPECIALITY! Cocktails! And right now, I'd say it's coolest place in London...x”

Betsy Smith, Kilburn (Bar)
“As the venue is at the end of my road I popped in to investigate on a thursday evening. Fab decor, delicious cocktails (not the cheapest, but certainly plenty of kick) and a friendly atmosphere. Fell in love with the place so booked a table for the saturday for dinner with 6 mates. Food was good quality, generous portions and good price. Table service was excellent when we arrived at 7pm but by 9pm when the bar filled up they were clearly understaffed. Think these are teething problems as it's only been open 4 weeks. If they sort the staffing during busy periods (table and number of bar staff) then this will be a gem of a place. Much better than the Black Lion or the Westbury - loved the mix of indie and electronic 80's with a bit of Hendrix and Bowie thrown in. Friendly crowd and plenty of seats outside for smokers.”
