Beautiful, beautiful. Attention to detail second to none gives this moorish venue a pretty special vibe. Hot and very grown up music, 'buy me another' cocktails, sexy staff, mirror mosaics, the sultry... More Atmosphere: Value: Quality:

“Another of those classic, peekaboo frosted glass windows type of London pubs which vies with tourists to retain its old world charm, and just about manages it. Standard and reasonably priced grub accompanies unremarkable beverages, but if you're looking for a discrete or remarkable venue I'd leave it to the tourists to battle out between themselves whether or not it would be peculiarly un-English to share a table with strangers. Worth a quick visit if you're on the wrong side of Oxford Sreeet for Soho or have got lost on the way back to Kings Cross.”

“On a family visit to London last weekend, we were disappointed to find that in 2004 this was the only pub in London that refused to accept a Scottish £10 note. The refusal was not even a very polite one.”

“I have been to this restaurant numerous times for client dinners or that special date. The atmosphere is fantastic and the waiting staff are always alert, yet not intrusive. The table layout is cozy so so may feel a bit cramped. Especially if you order a few different side dishes. The only down side to this restaurant can be the prices but if you are used to spending £70-100+ for 2 people then it wont make any difference. Highly recommended if you want to impress a first date or take your partner out on a special date.”

“Catering for a mixed crowd (eat a la carte on the upstairs balcony or chill out with decent and cheap bar dishes downstairs) the Jazz Cafe presents the hippest, jazziest artists around. Be prepared for up close and personal sashaying late into the evening and frenzied encores which leave the audience baying sophisticatedly for even more..”

Coach & Horses - Youngs, Barnes & Sheen (Bar / Restaurant)
“Christ - just read the last review - who the f*ck was that? Some spikey bleached haired ponse who hangs around in gastro pubs wondering what next type of hair gel they're going to buy from Toni & Guy and posing like a fag at the bar? Feck off no atmosphere! This is the best kept old pub in Barnes by a long way - you walk in, the bar staff are polite and crack jokes, folk bring their dogs in the pub, everybody knows everyone else and if you don't know anyone it's one of the few pubs that strangers will chat to you about stuff that will actually interest you rather than what's on tv - and probably buy you a drink, you get pork scratchings, no ponsy Kettle Chips for £3 a bag, it's got good cheap beer, no blaring sh*te music so you can hear yourself think, no constant tv going in the corner so you can have a conversation to someones face and not the back of their head as they watch I'm a Fecking Celeb in the Jungle, good honest food, cracking massive atmospheric garden, you have to walk outside to another building to have a slash - how cool is that!, and if you can still read there are books on the bookshelf to read so you don't have to speak to some lame arse Pop Idol wannabe who comes swanning in off the street cos they've got lost on the way to All Bar One or the Sun Inn. I pray that they never ever get the planning to try and renovate it - it's a breath of fresh (if somewhat smokey) air, and one of the few last remaining honest, hardworking, untouched good old traditional English pubs. Five star”

“As a regular in the pub, I must say that things are improving. After a slow death of the pub last year, by the brewery changing the pub around. Tom the Assistant Manager, has really turned the pub around in the last few weeks. Lets hope he stays. The next thing the brewery can do, is spend money on the toilets.”

The Calf, Clapham (Bar)
“The Calf is great. Not much further out of Clapham than the Sun, but not so full of awful city/clapham/rahs. It has a nice atmosphere, with wodden floors, comfy seats and good artwork. The beer has always tasted good, and service has never been slack. The food is certainly tasty, but is fairly expensive. It is nice to see your food being prepaired in the open kitchen. It also gets top marks for having a proper French 'Baby Foot' table, I just love that 'ping' when you hit the ball. Over all the Calf is a winner. Propably my favorite pub in Clapham. Worth a visit!”

The Garage, Angel & Islington (Bar)
“Ok before i start my review, i would just like to say i do work at the Garage. I'm currently working in the cloakroom, so if you pop down say hi. i've had many 'favoured' jobs but i have to say so far the garage is the best. the atmosphere is great and so friendly. the security 'may' seem a bit extravagant at times but they're looking out for your best interests. the gigs that are held there always have a good outcome, even if only 5 people turn up. and the clubs on the weekend have a busy turn out, most of the time leading to a full cloakroom (try and get there early, bearing in mind we open at 11pm for the clubs and 7-7.30 pm for gigs) new bands night are the best because you get to witness new and upcoming bands, i found quite a few bands i now i have great interest in. so maybe you think i'm biased and just wanna make the club look good, but i've been going there before i worked there and still i havent changed my views. if you still dont believe me, then see for yourself. ROCK ON!!”

Picture of Zoo Bar London, West End, London

Zoo Bar London, West End (Bar / Club)
“If you manage to un-stick your feet from the floor of this venue, you would be better off going somewhere else - ANYWHERE else in fact. Don't get me wrong, I have been a familiar face at some of London's pikey-est nightspots during my 5 years in the capital, but the line is drawn firmly somewhere between Leicester Square and Bear St, where this salubrious establishment is located. The Zoo Bar can only aspire to the dizzy heights of mediocrity. However, the overpriced (or should that be over-iced?) cocktails plus the surly attitude of door staff, bar staff and DJ, mean that this place will never be anything but a last resort for confused tourists who have been caught out by the licensing laws (but who won't make the same mistake again). Who knows, maybe the management will eventually disappear up their own backsides, leaving the way clear for someone to manage the place properly. But, until that day, if you like your cocktails to come with a large side order of rudeness, or perhaps to be offered crack cocaine by one of the zoo bar's punters, and if you don't mind if someone else goes home with your wallet / mobile / walkman, then this is the place for you.”

The Avenue, Ealing (Bar)
“Very quiet in the week but has a nice feel to it, much better than the pub it has replaced! Drinks are nice, but cocktails are on the pricey side and aren't always what you would expect. That said, there have already been many good nights enjoyed there so it is throughtly recommended”
