“The Islington is a gem and one of my favourite places in Angel. The bar has a very pleasant décor and is very comfortable with a good selection of drinks. I recently had a party at the venue for which the manager kindly reserved an area and we were very well looked after by his friendly staff. Go check it out, it's well worth a visit.”

MEATmarket, West End (Restaurant)
“This place is a bit tricky to find so I suggest approaching along Tavistock Street instead of the Covent Garden piazza side. It's basically on a balcony above the 'tacky' market on the south side of Covent Garden, above all the chintz sellers. Wrap up warm because it's chilly up there during winter. A great use of space though and love the authentic decor. The Philly cheesesteak could be cheesier but delicious nonetheless. Boozy milkshakes are a good call too.”

“A hidden gem of sorts; bang in the centre of Angel whilst still managing to slip away from the hustle and bustle of the high street, The Islington manages to strike a perfect balance between homely comfort and chic. Music is the order of the day; a beautiful stage occupies a corner of the room without invading the place - you can get up close to the performers at the candlelit tables, or stand by the bar, or sit further back whilst enjoying the selection of food on offer. A fine range of wines, drafts and ciders are available at competitive prices. The music usually consists of a solo acoustic performer or stripped back band line ups, which means you can hear yourself think and still enjoy some quality entertainment. I've seen the place packed and you can hear a pin drop. The staff are friendly, attentive and willing to go the extra mile, so it ticks all of the boxes on service. All in all a fantastic place if you're looking for something central and a little different and special without having to spend the earth. Highly recommended!”

“My boyfriend and I loved the atmosphere of The Islington immediately when we walked in the first time in January to see if it would be a suitable venue for my birthday bash. Well, it ticked all the right boxes for us. You have created a clean, comfortable and warm environment, where one feels welcome and has time to chill, greeted by friendly and efficient service. The night of my party was fantastic in the running of it, led by Tim and I had many compliments by my guest about the great venue, which I am happy to pass on to you. (Well, I know that you already had some further bookings from some of our guests). We had great fun, good food and wine and the fact that three generations felt welcome and hit the dancefloor, speaks volumes for how successful the evening was. Many thanks to you all.”

“After dining at most Thai restaurants in London and out with, the Chaophaya Eat-Thai is by far the best, quality of the food and service is superb and at one of the main things we look forward to when we visit the city, lovely restaurant and lovely people running it. I would recommend this place to anyone.”

“Had great expectations for this bar but the greeting on arrival was dreadful from a bar attendant that neither looked at us when he spoke nor could be understood by either of us. Found him really unhelpful where choosing a cocktail was concerned. We then moved around to the otherside of the bar where we were taken care of by a more helpful female bar attendant....the cocktails were disappointing so we move on to a glass of wine which was nice we chose the cheese platter to go with it which was not great, the artisan bread......was just a couple of slices of regular boring white bread!! won't be rushing back any time soon”

“I have been a lot of times because I am living in the neighbourhood I must say that it used to be a really good place to enjoy watching football or having something for lunch/dinner. But in the last months the responsible of managing, from the manager to the waiters/waitresses are really bad. The are very impolite, slow and not very friendly with the customers.”

“I dined at L'absinthe at the weekend - and I honestly couldn't fault it. The beef bourguignon was delicious and I had a sumptuous chocolatey dessert. It's hearty, tasty food with a candle-lit, friendly atmosphere to boot. You can also buy the wines on their wine list for prices minus corkage to take away - so you can try before you buy! I'd thoroughly recommend it”

SOUK Clapham, Clapham (Bar / Club)
“Souk is a cool place to go, and i enjoyed the crowd. Although the cocktail menu is really good, I tend to enjoy cream and chocolate and they didn't have anything like this on the menu. Considering there isn't a dessert menu, I think it would be better if they added something like this for those of us with a sweet tooth. The atmosphere is really great, and I particularly enjoyed the lighting. Only thing is, being a tall guy I found the tables quite low especially if you're not sitting against the wall.”

Italian Pizza Connection, Notting Hill (Restaurant)
“A group of went here last night, OMG what a place, the food is to die for. The pizzas are so large they just about fit on the tables and as for the other dishes, they looked just as good, presentation was 10 out of 10, service spot on and the desserts im told are home made, looked great but had no room. best to go in groups as food is in large portions, definitely value for money great night out, great place, great staff, great value. great food want my advice try it for yourself you wont be disappointed.”

“One of the best Mexican restaurants in London. If you want authentic Mexican street food, this is it. Tips: don't order anything without avocado in it; and always order at least one fish dish.”

The Medieval Banquet, City of London (Restaurant)
“Considering the amount of food that is needed for this banquet the kitchen does a fairly decent job of it. It isn't haute cuisine but it's not meant to be. It's all about the sword fighting, the juggling, and the shouting for more ale. Lots of fun for group bookings.”

“The cow pie is superb! Worth the trip alone. The menu is a tad expensive for what's on offer but if you're looking for a quiet, out-of-the-way drinking and dining experience in north-west London than this is the restaurant-pub for you. Nice little beer garden too.”
