Although Friday night was very busy, the service wass very bad - all the waiters are rude and not cheerful. They advertise that they serve meat, all we got offered was chicken wings, chicken hearts and... More Atmosphere: Value: Quality:

Hi Sushi, Soho (Restaurant)
“I had been looking for an all-you-can-eat-sushi place in London for some time now, as the last time I ate sushi it set me back over £40, personally more than I would like to spend on a plate of raw fish for lunch. I was very excited to hear about Hi Sushi and their all-you-can-eat offer, and a couple of days ago I set off down to Frith St. in Soho to eat sushi and hopefully for the first time in my life feel full after eating. I arrived at the restaurant at 4pm, only to be greeted with a polite reminder that the buffet offer didn’t start until 5.30pm. I was too hungry to go home, so I killed an hour and a half in Soho, a feat more difficult than you can imagine as a) I was very, very hungry, and b) it was raining like it was judgment day and my shoes and socks and feet were completely soaked by the time I returned to Hi Sushi. So if you do fancy all-you-can-eat-sushi, make sure you arrive after 5.30pm on weekdays, and after 12.30pm on Saturdays. The restaurant is small and plainly decorated. Upstairs are a few high tables with fixed stools, and downstairs you sit on cushions on the floor. I was dining alone, so I sat upstairs. I’m not sure how much sitting on cushions is my thing anyway! I was given two sheets of paper, one for an assortment of salmon based sushi (and some vegetarian options), and one sheet for a variety of fried hot foods. The sushi is unlimited but the fried options were not, and you can only order from the fried menu once. There were about 12 choices”

Baroque, Ealing (Bar / Restaurant / Club)
“Baroque is the best place to go in Ealing - friendly, free to get in, open late, good cocktails and great food - it's my new local! There's a real mix of customers but at the weekend we had a banging night, the DJ played a good mix of funky & R&B - loved it - highly recommend the mojito - has to be the best outside central London! We'll be back”

Beach Blanket Babylon, Shoreditch (Bar / Restaurant)
“Beach Blanket is incredible bad. Went there by chance as everywhere else was full. The odd girl on the podium was not exactly welcoming. After waitng an eternity we managed to get a waiter's attention. There seem to be many around in ratio to the customers but they are the type that avoid your eye contact. You literally have to get off your seat to get their attention. Don't you just hate that. Our drinks order did not materialize for 20 minutes and the food took even longer. Thankfully we were not hungry by then as the food is extremely bad eventhough its a basic pub menu at a gastronomic price. Will not be going back.”

“An absolute gem. We took over the Games Room for an awesome little get-together last month. The staff were excellent at running drinks up to us all night, there's an inbuilt music system in the room, and some uber-plush sofas. Definitely recommended.”

The Diner Shoreditch, Shoreditch (Bar / Restaurant)
“I went to The Diner with a friend on Friday evening. Despite it being busy we were seated within about 15 minutes which was a relief. Our order was taken quickly and our food arrived in good time although at no time did we feel our experience was rushed. I can heartily recommend the hard milkshakes - delicious!”

La Ballerina, West End (Restaurant)
“I ate in La Ballerina last night with a friend and enjoyed a perfect sirloin steak brought as requested (rare) with well served al-dente vegetables full of flavour - and my friends sole left the bone perfectly firm - we started with some pasta also slightly al-dente (just right) with a sweet tomatoe sauce and basil to which we added a little tobasco - it was lovely - we had some chianti and a little dolcelatte with perfectly fresh bread - and the meal was just lovely and I shall certainly return - I have no reservation in recommending this restaurant.”

Myung Ga, Soho (Bar / Restaurant)
“The food at the Myung Ga is simply outstanding. The kimchi pancakes are worth a try - delicious. We had 2 beef dishes cooked in front of us and were disappointed when we finished them!! Absolutely scrumptious! Finished off with some complimentary fruit which was a perfect end to the meal. Meal cost about £40 for 2 of us, including drinks - a bargain! Best meal of our trip by far.”

Abu Zaad, Shepherds Bush (Restaurant)
“Friendly welcoming staff, very fast service, great value for your money as the food is delicious, served in decent good portions and the price is just so cheap! However, if you're an expert in Middle Eastern food, you'll notice a slight different in the flavour and the way some of the food is prepared, nevertheless it's still an excellent choice if you're on a budget!”

Thai Square The Strand, West End (Restaurant)
“I have been to the Thai Square group restaurants many times and the food is generally good. This one however was a huge disappointment. The atmosphere looks expensive and feels like a hotel lobby, there is something quite wrong about it, unless you like hotel lobbies that is. The food was not great at all, the pad thai was gloopy and very sweet and my friend's chicken was overcooked and described as "a M&S meal that was cooked well". Very disappointing overall and definitely not recommended. The service was so so, skimpy dresses and high heels do not make the most practical of outfits for waitresses. They struggled to set tables and serve food in these. They also forgot our water and a request for some chilli. My advice is if you like Thai food avoid this place.”

Los Locos, West End (Bar / Restaurant / Club)
“I decided to book a table at Los Locos, through a friend’s recommendation, prior to our visit to a nearby theatre, hoping they’d offer value for money and quick service in case we were delayed upon arriving in the West End. As we were pushed for time, I made it known to our hostess and subsequently we were shown to our table with the minimum of fuss. We all chose 2 courses from the Al a Carte menu, each arriving in good time, ample in portions, thoroughly delicious and washed down with a delectable bottle of Montes Cabernet Sauvignon. The staff at Los Locos were attentive without being bothersome. It’s a lovely little restaurant and judging by the amount of diners there at such an early point in the evening, it would seem to be very popular with Londoners, which is always a good sign, I find. To sum it all up, the service, food and cost all rank very highly, it’s clean and tidy with the minimum amount of fuss. Excellent all round and keep up the good work! Mr & Mrs Blith-Lavey.”

“This is our local pub and its brilliant in winter, but especially in the outdoor area in summer - you can even play petanque there! The only thing is that we miss the nachoes with everything... bring back the chilli beef and guacamole!!”
