Wibbley Wobbly Greenland Dock, off Rope St, Surrey Quays, London, SE16 7SZ (Map)

This a little gem of a place. Simple bar with lots of nautical knick-knacks, juke box is a bit annoying but not too loud. The best reason for going there in the winter is for the incredible Sunday lunches.... More Atmosphere: Value: Quality:

“Very slow service - waited 20mins to be seated despite empty tables, food order was forgotton about and we waited 45 mins before having to ask for it. When the food arrived it was very average.”

“I found this place shocking. I went with my girlfriend and was both nursing hangovers and wanted a carefree and smooth experience. We waited for about 20 minutes to be seated whilst their were tables free but the staff hadn't even bothered to clean the tables. We eventually got a table but had to wait whilst the waiter cleaned it whilst we were sitting at the table. Eventually we got served by a waitress who I can only describe as "in her own world" she took our order and we waited, and waited and waited, 3 tables around us had changed so covers. 50 minutes later we asked another waitress about our order and she enquired with the original waitress about the order? It hadn't been placed and our new waitress has to take over (what really annoyed us was the original waitress had knew she had made a mistake but didn't even bother apologising, she just let her friend takeover and then dodge us the for the time we spent their). When the food eventually came it was below average and the chips were cold. If you really want to wait nearly an hour for your food and have rude staff completely ignore you then go to this restaurant, otherwise stay well clear.”

“I have just read some good reviews of this place but when I went I was not that impressed - struggled to have a conversation with my 2 friends sitting right next to me as music was loud or accoustics not quite right and it was way too dark so couldn't really see people! Also, a shame they serve doubles as a matter of course - what about those people who just want a nice single?! Music good though and not atmosphere but not sure I would go again...”

“Very disappointing. All hype and no substance. They are trying so hard to be trendy but not suceeding. Service was terrible, abrupt and rude. The restaurant was almost empty due to the many bad reviews according to the waiters. The bar in the basement was really stuffy and the drinks took an eternity to arrive even though it was not busy. Experienced staff who spoke english would be helpful. Won't be rushing back there.”

“Just walked out the Phoenix. Called about 15 minutes before the rugby started to find out whether they were showing the match. A little bit shocked having ordered a couple of drinks and some food for the second half, to see it turned over to the football. Had a quick chat to the manager who could barely string an apology together. Made to feel very unwelcome. Extremely poor, wont be going back.”

“Kosmopol is one of the best cocktail bars in the area and they knock up the best mojitos in town! Me and my date also tried some of the "house cocktails" and they were delicious. The staff was very nice and we also liked the music. Overall they deserve 5 stars!!!”

“I had just finished a job interview and felt like a bit of a celebration - Christopher's was just what I was looking for. The staff were friendly but did not pester, and the food was wonderful. Surf n'Turf was cooked very simply; as it should be.”

“Horrible! I've now given them two chances. The first time, the food was like an M & S microwave meal and the service extremely curt. The second time, the shockingly rude waitress refused to let us sit at a corner table set for four (there were 2 of us), even though it was 9 PM on a Tuesday night so the place was practically empty. When we politely said that perhaps we should go elsewhere, the waitress replied, "We don't care. Leave." Avoid this dump at all costs.”

“Do not ever go to this restaurant. Food - Very small portions that taste absolutely disgusting. Service - Trailer trash waitresses that don't know what they are doing. Ambience - The place was extremly dark, hot and stuffy, trying to come across classy but failing miserably. PRICE - £60 = two course + wine . What a rip off! And think you can go to Galvin Bistro for £44 which is one of the best restaurants in town! By far the worse meal of my life. ”

“Very much a local pub for local people. Staff not overtly friendly if you're not known. Great looking pub which harks back to what pubs used to be. ”

The Gallery at Sketch London, Mayfair (Bar / Restaurant)
“When i went to Sketch i felt really out of place as did my friends. We wandered in with tshirts, jeans, rara skirts and casual attitudes which really dosen't suit this sort of place. However, other than one member of staff, we were welcomed and treated the same as everyone else in the venue. Though the drinks were quite pricey, i must admit, it was worth it. And not only were the drinks fantastic but the service was spot on. As soon as we sat down, a woman rushed over to push our tables together and reorder things to make sure we were comfortable. The rest rooms at Sketch were quite a talking point too. Each unit is an egg shaped pod and it's worth visiting sketch just to see them let alone the rest of the amazing clockwork orange-esque design. We were invited to the members only room after midnight which had a completely different atmosphere. The room consisted of a small dance floor and a small bar and 2 djs on a set of decks. The atmosphere was a lot more relaxed and we really had a good time. The more i was there, the more i enjoyed myself and on reflection, i would love to make my visits to Sketch more frequent.”

Milk & Honey, Soho (Bar)
“We went to Milk & Honey for my birthday last friday and i must say, i was quite impressed. I was cautious to the reception we would receive after reading the rules and rumours of the place but i was more than comfortable once entering. After being seated at our own booth, we tried multiple cocktails, each of which were fantastic, we even ordered the most unappealing cocktail on the menu which actually turned out to be our favourite. The waitress was friendly, even when one of us broke a glass, and the service was fast and smooth. This really isn't a bar to go to if you prefer the atmosphere of a busy bar with loud music and a goal for the evening. If you want to relax and have some tasty drinks with some friends and feel like you're in a different part of the world other than London, then Milk & Honey is really the place for you. I can't wait to go back.”

Kanchans (Gants Hill), Ilford & Walthamstow (Restaurant)
“Have been to this restaurant several times and the food has been average to good. However on the last visit, waiters would not serve tap water and we had to buy bottled. This is a rip off and unfair to the waiters as the bad feeling caused by this is reflected in the tip to staff. Also had to send back wine twice due to it being corked.”

Blue Ocean Restaurant & Lounge, Chertsey (Bar / Restaurant)
“This is a great venue for going for a nice meal or having a great night out with a bunch of friends. It has a great bar and lounge area and a funky atmosphere. The food is a mixture of fusion and asian with a special twist. I definitely recommend this place for any parties or even an intimate meal. Go and visit blue ocean and you will not be disappointed.”

CellarDoor, West End (Bar / Club)
“Superb subterranean cabaret bar in a rather unlikely location of a loo under the Strand. Secluded and perfect for illicit affairs with bum shaped banquettes, kiss me/lick me bar stools, and the sexiest toilets around, this place oozes cool in a space barely bigger than your front room. The cocktails are fabulous, but the nightly live jazz is where CellarDoor really comes alive. Kitty La Roar and Nick of Time on Thursdays always get everyone going with crazy, mixed up renditions of grunge hits and swing classics.”
