“If you want to be treated like a second class citizen then you'll have a great time here. Otherwise don't even think about it! The place is packed. They estimate how long you will wait and then you need to double it and add some, all the time the drinks bill is mounting up, and they don't come cheap either. The food menu is really limited and although dencent portions consists mainly of rice. The staff are appallingly rude and when I was there the manageress was hateful to us even though we had waited 3 hours to get food. I will never go here again and I will be telling all of my friends to give it a wide birth too.”

“This is a place worth going out of your way to visit. The setting is unpreposesing and if you arrive early, as you need to, you may think you have the wrong pub. But persevere and your taste buds will thank you. I had read some really positive revues on the Anchor and Hope in Waterloo and knew that it was in the running for several soon to be announced rewards. I was not dissapointed. The crabmeat on toast starter was exquisite and the rack of lamb my companion and I had was so delicious, especially accompanied with mouth-watering kale and just right lentils. I finished with a rehubarb pudding that was heaven. The wines and fino sherry we slurped during our oh so wonderful meal were excellent value and for seventy pounds, we had no complaints at all. The friendly and efficient staff managed a full dinning room with total aplom. Take the effort to go, you will be well rewarded.”

“Quality - good honest drink and grub at the top of Richmond Hill. Thankfully not too many people know about this little gem and as such you can get a seat most days. A word of advice: arrive early if you wish to benefit from the views - the tables at the front are hot property.”

Approach Tavern, Bethnal Green (Bar)
“This pub is awesome ! The food is absolutely gorgeous. The fish and chips are second to none, and stand up against well established restaurants with ease. The beer, which is polish Strarobrno is quality stuff, and along with numerous real ales, the wine list is plentiful and good value. All in all, a fantastic local boozer for regulars to be proud of.”

“I can't express what a terrible place this is. The service is absolutely terrible. My friend and I ordered a platter and the terrible 16 yr old bar steward took our money but no food. We waited and waited. We are still waiting..”

“Well, really who has been to London and hasn't been here? It's a great pub, but seems to be chockablock full of tourists! I prefered the basement bar - nice vibe and friendly barstaff.”

“Overrated Expensive and fussy atmosphere Therefore, ideally suited for self important city slickers with more money than sense and no palate for good wine”

“I visited this establishment after having it recommended by a gay friend as a good pick-up joint. However, upon visiting the bar, my gaydar was only troubled by one gentleman, who was singing Craig David on the karaoke. The drinks were reasonably priced, and I would recommend the French Martinis. The only highlight of the evening was watching a tall chap singing a tremendous version of Hound Dog.”

“I thought this place was terrible. I rarely fail to pull when I'm out and about but this place did not come up with the goods. I was most disappointed by the lack of John Denver on the Karaoke machine and my Spritzer was warm. 1/5”

“Rose - being "nothing fancy" is kind of the point. If it's fancy you want this is not the place.”

“Having been to this restaurant more times than i can remember, i think the food is top notch and worth every penny. The staff are friendly, helpful and have a good time. As for the music, drinks and friendly chat, it continues long into the early hours in the morning and is a perfect place to spend your evening, either with girlfriends or a loved one.”

“It's not a bad place for a Sunday afternoon. But don't expect food to match the prices, nor a particularly great crowd any night of the week. One of those places that *should* be better - it looks the part, it's in a great, out of the way location - but somewhow just isn't.”

“The Mucky Pup is a really excellent pub. Really nicely laid out with the most comfortable sofas I've ever had the pleasure of sitting on. The owners are really friendly and you always get a very warm welcome there. They also have a very cool dog called Iggy! Highly reccomended if you want to get away from the trendy bars or chain pubs that Islington has in abundance!”

“The service is attentive although a little too much - they took my partner's plate away before I had finished eating. The meals were average and arrived quickly - good if in a hurry but does raise concerns as to its freshness. And the seating is a little too cosy! There are plenty of better Italian places at half the price!”
