“Always enjoyed realy good food here and quick service. Today it was a differnt story - staff were rude and refused to give a breakdown of the bill - when I added it up myself and queried they replied 'well, it's around about that amount'! Be careful...”

The Fulham Mitre, Fulham (Bar / Restaurant)
“I have just returned to Fulham after being in Milan for a few years and to be honest was not that excited about going out drinking again in the area as I've never rated any of the pubs. While I've been away though this gem of a pub has opened. Its fantastic! It used to be an absolutely awful place but the family who have taken it over have gutted and redesigned it. Its modern and stylish (but still feels like a pub rather than a bar)and has a great garden. The staff are very good and always try and make you feel welcome (I think its got a lot to do with the owner being behind the bar). The quality of the food is superb with plenty of choice (lots of salads etc.)and if you are going to go for their sunday roast get there early because it does get busy. I don't think you will be disappointed.”

The Avenue, Ealing (Bar)
“Went to The Avenue for new years eve and had a great time - absolutely amazing decor, very loungy feel with candle light on the walls. Exactly what ealing needed - a west end style bar but locally - great for walking to for locals :-) Also really cool plasma with funky images behiond the bar - really addictive!!! Drinks (especially cocktails) were very nice. Highly recommend it. Been there 4 time since and enjoyed it every time.”

The Phene, Chelsea (Bar / Restaurant)
“The phene arms has never looked any better. It was lucky for phene arms to receive the love and attention of their new owners as the last ones would let it to go to shit. I personaly love the place as i have seen it before and now and i say well done. The atmosfere is great and is the merit of the staff there which are profesional and will treat everyone as an individual. The Phene Arms Alimente has kept its traditional look but with a light make up so that you will not feel discusted when eating the great food that they serve there. So dont just go for a pint as you can get one everywhere but try the food as well as you will be suprised. Go there and have a great night you will not regret your choise and i dont even want to imagine what is going to be like in the summer.”

“I've only been to the bar once and am now kicking myself for not venturing in earlier. The decor is fun, colourful and doesn't take itself to seriously and appears to attract people with similar personalities. I'm looking forward to eating at the restuarent, just waiting for a good excuse. I had a look around and can't stop thinking about having my partner's birthday party here!”

Lyric Tavern, Soho (Bar)
“Thought the review of The Lyric was spot on... would just like to add that it's a great place for watching the famous Glasgow Celtic whenever there's a live match on telly, even on nights when every other bar in Central London seems to be showing Man Utd, Chelski, or the Arse..”

Picture of The Phene, Chelsea, London

The Phene, Chelsea (Bar / Restaurant)
“Until recently the Phene was the best pub in Chelsea. It was an old fashioned place, it's true, the central bar had been there since the 1850s. It wasn't prissy or self conscious though - it was very much the local boozer, and this is what made it great. It was a standout place in an area packed with pretentious bars that changed decor every ten minutes and all had an identikit crowd of Sloane rangers and Eurotrash. Well now it's gone. The Sloanes have moved in and turned it into a matt grey cocktail bar. It is utterly bereft of character, the leatherette pouffes are impossible to perch on, a pint of Guinnes costs £3.10. Giant plasma screens dominate the place. The bar staff can't tell whisky from brandy, much less diferent brands of lager apart. Bitter? Don't even ask...The clientele, last time I was in, was made up of four braying city types who left at about eight, and two regulars who looked utterly disgusted with what had happened to their pub, and rightly so. I strongly suggest you go elsewhere, this place is now appalling, really, genuinely bad. Bad service, bad atmosphere, bad pint and bad vibes.”

“An outstanding addition to the N1 pub scene. Very laid back with splendid friendly service, fun decor and good beer. A great option if tired of the crowds and general mayhem of Essex Road at the weekend. Pool table and well stocked juke box too.”

The Social (Arlington Square), Angel & Islington (Bar)
“i could not disagree more with that review. the food in the social is absolutely gorgeous and it's always packed. sunday lunch is lush, they cook a whole side of beef and the slices are moist and pink in the middle. the roast potatoes are to die for. they menu changes a lot and is really innovative, such as chicory, walnut, stilton and pear salad, just delicious. the atmosphere is great for sunday lunch and can be pretty good in the evening too, although the DJs are a bit wasted as everyone just sits around drinking. not much space to party!”

Gowlett Arms, Dulwich (Bar)
“This refurbished pub/bar is so good its a shame to spill the beans. The new owners have got it spot on. The place looks good but has not been over done, keeping what is good about Londons traditional pubs. This has been mixed in with good music and a nice atmosphere. What more could you want.”

Cubana, Waterloo (Bar / Restaurant)
“Went last Thursday and had so much fun I thought I would log on and tell everyone. My girlfriends and I went on our way to another bar to meet some friends but in the end we told them to come to Cubana and finish the night with us. Didn’t eat but the food that I saw looked good. The atmosphere was fantastic and at about 12:30 I found myself dancing at the bar with some tall, sexy Spanish guy. The staff were really kind about having to throw me out because the place was closing. Going back.”

Coach & Horses - Youngs, Barnes & Sheen (Bar / Restaurant)
“Situated in Barnes Hight St towards the river this Youngs pub has long been popular with a 30+ local clientele. A large garden and good lunch time food make it popular with families, but it is fast going downhill will continue to do so pending refurbishment and a change of management to inject a better atmosphere. Frankly its just a rather ordinary boozer with a decent garden.”

Ruby Blue, West End (Bar / Restaurant / Club)
“Had a fab night at your club, music was spot on, lots of dancing and good atmosphere. My mate fell deeply, madly in love with your Dave Beckham lookalike barman, could'nt get her away from him, she was the one who harrased the bouncers at the door, then ended up leaving her mobile with the female cloakroom assistant by the door, sorry, but my mates usually quite picky who she decides to fancy, so it quite shocked me that she made a fool of herself, which made her cringe in the morning. Anyway back to my review, it was an ace night out, bouncers were very efficient and even escorted us to our awaiting taxi. thank you. Sue and Julie, North Wales.”
