Recent bar & restaurant customer reviews in London
Catcher in The Rye, Finchley (Bar)
“There is definitely a management presence there now and it seems like they have done the most wonderful job. The staff seem a lot
Happier and all the old customers are coming back. The quality of food has grown significantly in the past 3 months as previously I’d dread to eat from there. 10:10 for the manager who is now running what is a wonderful business. ”

Alfred Le Roy, Hackney (Bar)
“What a fantastic find! A day trip to Londons Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, our stroll took us to the Canal and vibrant Hackney Wick. The Alfred Le Roy was a surprising find. A cocktail bar on a beautiful teal blue canal barge. Great music, and the best cocktails (try the ‘figarative’ and the’akoya’ seriously good!!!) they had the roof open as it was a glorious evening too. Such smiley, genuinely lovely mixologists who were happy to tell us about the area too.
Located right on the canal in Hackney Wick next to the Crate Brewery. I will be back for one of their weekend cocktail cruises.”

Catcher in The Rye, Finchley (Bar)
“They literally clicked us out! We called in advance, if we can bring our dogs in. We described their size and all... Made a lame excuse about food hygiene even though it was a complete bullsh*t.
The manager was so rude he didn't even come to apologise...
You ether aloud dogs or your not! Discrimination against a dog size is not different that any other kind of discrimination... Shameful.”

Looking Glass Cocktail Club, Shoreditch (Bar)
“BEWARE: TOTAL RIP OFF 12.5% SERVICE CHARGE INCLUDED ON ALL DRINKS. I visited the looking Glass along with my wife with high expectations due to the mainly positive reviews and was left distinctly underwhelmed. The drinks are average and overpriced, with a sneaky service charge of 12.5% included which is just pure unalloyed greed. The Gentlemen’s toilet was blocked and the taps were not working; disgustingly unhygienic. Avoid this overrated establishment and instead consider visiting Nightjar, 129 City Road or The Cocktail Trading Co. Brick Lane; both of which are excellent alternatives for a memorable night out.”

Jamboree, Whitechapel & Wapping (Bar / Club)
“We really enjoyed the Jamboree Club when we visited to listen (and dance to) the wonderful Dom Pipkin and the Ikos. Wonderful night - great people there too. But so sad to hear that the Club may not be open soon as the lease was not to be renewed. Is this the case?
Look forward to hearing from someone about this.

Stagolee's, Fulham (Bar / Restaurant)
“BIG Disappointment!! I booked a table to celebrate our wedding anniversary as someone told us about this place. Unfortunately the service was TERRIBLE! We made reservations but the host did not honour our booking. Instead, he told us that we could not sit at our table because the bar was the only available space. Our table was empty so we were confused when he sat us down at the bar. We were sitting for at least 20 minutes without any menus or acknowledgement then we had to ask for a menu. Later, a couple walked in with their dog, they were seated immediately at our table and were provided with menus and were served drinks. Before losing my patience, I decided to speak to the server and told him how I felt about the poor customer service and mistreatment. His reply was “I am overwhelmed, so busy and I have to cater to my friends over there and regulars”! Then I asked him; so if you only have to cater to your friends/regulars what about the new clientele? He provided an insincere apology and said he was filling orders. He would not take responsibility for his poor customer service at all. He was anything but a professional or sympathetic to us and our wedding anniversary. We decided to leave and will definitely not be going back or recommending this place to anyone we know!!!”

Simmons Fitzrovia, Fitzrovia (Bar)
“A horrible, violent venue, and a blight on Fitzrovia. Their bouncer attacks mere passers-by; God alone knows how they treat their patrons.
You can have a look at their deranged "security" geezer on the fitzrovialitter page on Flickr.

The Orchard, New Cross & Brockley (Bar)
“Demetrius review of the coffee is very unfair. The milk is not burnt the coffee is hot but I cannot imagine how he burnt his tongue. The quality is a little over the average compared to Costa coffee but Orchard coffee price reflects the lower quality of the coffee. Several dishes are reasonably tasty but I would prefer the prices to be lower. I think the prices reflect the number of staff and the speediness of service ”

Simmons Fitzrovia, Fitzrovia (Bar)
“I was merely walking past this squalid joint when its doorman assaulted me then imprisoned me in the alcove at Ramsay Hall opposite their dive. He objected to my photographing Simmons'"private property". By "private property" was the hoodie-encased degenerate's referring to the bar's disgusting pile of rubbish Simmons dumped onto Fitzroy Street?
Simmons should realize that their bouncers, sorry "security officers", don't have a right to assault the public... and should they do so, they don't want to be photographed. ”

The Hide Bar, London Bridge & Bermondsey (Bar)
“Very disappointed when I received the bill for 3x gin and tonics Saturday evening....Without consulting they had served DOUBLES!!(I was driving- so extremely unhappy that they made this decision on my behalf when I had just asked for a 'gin and tonic' standard measures by law being 25ml.
On top of that a 12.5% service charge despite the fact that I had to go to the bar to order and to pay the bill. (£37.50)
Will not be going back on the basis of how underhanded this was
Not a classy establishment, check out 214 Bermondsey gin bar a little further down”

Majingos Gentleman's Club, Whitechapel & Wapping (Bar / Club)
“I found Majingos again... I used to go here when it was based at South Quay in Canary Wharf and has now relocated to Limehouse E14 in case anyone doesn't know. It was good in the old days and I am pleased to say it's still good today. A lovely Art Deco little club with happy friendly staff and lovely girls as always. I live in Docklands so it's great for me to have it back on my doorstep again without the journey into main London's seedier not so nice clubs. Good times are back again.”

Salvador & Amanda, West End (Bar / Restaurant)
“Very bad experience. Booked a table, before paying making sure that the table will not be moved at some point to make space. Looks like the woman taking bookings called Candice will promise you anything just to take your money, because guess what, comes 11pm and the security comes showing us around (it was my husbands birthday party), manager called doesn't care about anything even if you show him you have the promise in writing, and leaves. After that additionally and totally unnecessary the security super rude, aggressive and threatening. All of this on top of overcrowded space, songs on repeat and only 2 actually working barmans for that many people is much too much - there's plenty of other places in London to spend your money, especially if you invite guests for some occasion.”
