ScooterCaffe 132 Lower Marsh, London, SE1 7AE (Map)

This place has bags of character, as do the arty folk that frequent it. Great friendly vibe, very chilled out and a super little hide out. I love Scottercaffe! More Atmosphere: Value: Quality:

“The great location and lovely ambience of the Skylon was not matched by the food or service. One dish had to be returned as dry and stale {the duck), the reordered pasta dish while nicely presented was awash with oil. Other dishes for our party of six were of a poor quality. There appear to be some rather strange house rules with: wine and water not left on the table. The service was slow 20minute wait for the bill and the table left uncleared at a time when the place was not full. A shame when it had been choosen for a special occasion1.”

“The atmosphere is great and the bar is very trendy. Definetley a good bar to go out and have fun. Staff are friendly and the food is nice. The music was quite cheesy, would be good if they played RnB as well.”

Beauberry House, Dulwich (Bar / Restaurant)
“My husband and I had our wedding this year, 2010 at the beautiful venue Beauberry House. You cannot fault the absolute beauty of the house and it's setting. However, as we experienced difficulties on the day, the management lost their temper, made bad decisions on our behalf, and left my husband and I completely embarassed looking back on the day. We were charged £950 plus £312 service charge (£1262) for post ceremony and dinner drinks for 60 people. However, during the dinner, my guests were charged for their soft drinks! They did not accept my request for a refund for those guests drinks! I purchased freeze dried rose petals as instructed by the Event Manager, and she made an 'executive decision' not to use them as my table decoration for the day (even though I had spent hours and hours deciding what combination/colours/decorations to use!). So the tables did not look the way I had wanted them to, not to mention the waste of my time and money! We had a food tasting and chose what we wanted for our meal, but we were served with something different (polenta) which quiet frankly, was disgusting!!!! The ceremony was finished by 4.30pm, we were scheduled to be called for dinner at 5.45pm.... by 6.15pm we were bored, and left wandering around the house trying to find out what the hell was going on, in the end we just went upstairs and seated ourselves for dinner! Complete disorganisation and lack of communication. I had spent days and days organising the music myself onto iTunes. I can't even begin to explain the time and effort that went into the music on the day.... the music was completely messed up from nothing being played while my guests were waiting for me, to the same 3 songs being repeated over and over during the party!!!! We were told we had to supply our own wedding cake, but would be charged a £50 cake charge (i assume to cut and serve the cake!). However, the cake was never cut, nor was it served. They did not offer me a reimbursement of the charge! I had asked for non-alc. beer to be for the groom, & my father - but they were never served & when i asked for them, they only received 1 small bottle of beer each (i was charged £11 per head for beer!!!) To top it off, we had to witness the senior staff acting in a degrading manner towards the waiters. Completely inappropriate way to behave in front of paying customers and their guests!!! When I sent a letter of complaint to the HO, they not only dismissed every issue i raised, they also accused me of lying to get money out of them! What a disgrace!”

“Can olny comment on the bar. Staff are friendly, music OK and the atmosphere live. But it's a grotty kind of a bar, I've never been there and not atleast seen a fight but i'll keep going back because it's the only bar in the area which closes as late as 4”

“Came here on Wednesday before The Walkmen gig round the corner at O2 Academy round the corner. Glad we got there about 5.30 as it soon filled up and table space was limited. Non-distinct looking pub, good service and drinks were the (now getting too common) £4 mark. Ordered some food and was surprised at both the quantity and quality - burger & chips was excellent but not sure if it was worth almost £12.... in a pub! Toilets downstairs are worth mentioning for their uniqueness - nothing quite like it in London. And The Walkmen were great!”

“Came here during the week and must say that for my first visit to a 'fully nude lap dancing club' i loved it! The hostess's are very hospitable and the girls are beautiful - (Sale especially), the private dance really is something special. I can't remember exactly how much i spent there (about £150?) but every penny (pound) was well worth it and would highly recommend a visit.”

“Went into the bowler yesterday for lunch and was really surprised by the turn around of this pub, the food, drink choice and service were all excellent. I have walked by this pub for years as it was always dark, dingy and empty but after recently changing hands and being done up nicely it has a really friendly relaxing atmosphere. If you, like me have always just walked past this pub I suggest you give it a go”

“Just moved to the area and after walking past the pub numerous times the welcoming glow of the interior proved just too much to resist. My friend had been banging on about his local for some time and i thought there was no chance of this small pub being as good as he made out. I was wrong. There is a nice range of beers and spirits here, a few i had never encountered before, and the food is fantastic. The staff i found to be very pleasent and easy on the eye, which is never a bad thing, and the owner a thoroughly charming chap. Not a hint of the rudeness the previous reviewer commeted on although i have been told of the previous co-owner who apparently left some months ago and fancied himself as a bit of a gorden ramsey with an attitude to match but thankfully he is long gone.”

“I met friends here for drinks last Thursday evening. The service was efficient and friendly. We had a couple of bottles of their house champagne which is lovely and great value. We were offered some tapas so we had the serrano ham and the manchego cheese both absolutely excellent. I would recommend more bar and brasserie to anyone. Great food, excellent service and brilliant champagne.”

Imbibe, Borough & Southwark (Bar)
“Imbibe provided the ideal venue and place for a professionally managed party. As a small events company based in London with a global client base we needed something quite unique for our 1 old year birthday party. The BBQ and food was excellent, the space perfect for the 200 people attending and the bar staff friendly and welcoming. Management and planning for the event before the night was very professional and Sam (bar manager/owner) catered for every detail - including the ones we missed too! Venue comes highly recommended and is just a short distance from mainline stations. Thanks from Ande”

“Really great food, setting is a bit boring though, still if you do eat in a hotel you should expect that (I read the food was great and booked it without realising where it was!). We had lobster Cobb salad, gaspacho, steak and john dory, really tasty, the waitress was really nice too. Not cheap but probably worth it despite being in a hotel, its right by westminster bridge so great for a romantic stroll back after dinner!”

“Totally awesome! Went for a night out in town with friends and after reading the raving reviews, we decided to give Aqua Spirit Bar a try. And, yes - it’s a winner! We all agreed that Aqua is THE place to hang out after work or on weekends. Their list of cocktails is endless with really innovative ingredients that made me drool just reading about! But best of all is the service and ambience - an attractive waitress with an inviting smile brought us to our table on the rooftop. The view from the rooftop is just amazing - you're right in the heart of the city, yet you feel like you're on holiday. This place is really special, like an insider's tip. Once you’re there, you’re wondering what took you so long to discover this gem!”

“i went there few times with my wife and kids... great restaurant, food is very good, fresh, generous, the restaurant is clean, so are the loo, the boss is exceptional with the kids..too, a French guy with an English sense of humour !! i can only recommend the restaurant, honestly, its simple, prices are fair, even a set menu for a little over 10 quid at lunch, and less than 17 in the evening, 3 course too, in Kensington? in London? a bargain. i was fortunate to find this restaurant, we are now regulars, privileged and happy to be so. i am convinced that supporting our local businesses is important, we should all do that !!”

“This could be a lovely pub, but service is slow and there is nothing more annoying than queueing at the bar and bar staff serving others that have come to the bar after you. It's the simplest thing to get right but the ones here can't! Drinks are fairly pricy too, but that seems to be a common theme with Young's these days.”

“Speaking from experience - a fantastic venue for a wedding! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. A beautiful wedding setting for both the ceremony and reception. A real bonus was the events manager Oleia and the team who worked extremely hard to ensure the day ran smoothly. Even when a few curve balls were thrown at them by the wedding party they handled everything with extreme professionalism. The friendly and efficient staff created a relaxed atmoshphere and meant that we could all enjoy a stress-free wedding. The BBQ food was wonderful, really tasty and plenty of it. Alcohol was also available in abundance with very prompt refills. Everything was well organised and coordinated. Genuinely the guests, family and friends all had a great time and extremely positive comments. Thank you to all at Beauberry House for making a special day wonderful!”
