Penderel's Oak, City of London (Bar)
“Good value pub and the basement bar is available for hire. Getting served can be a pain when its busy but the range of drinks make up for it. Bar staff are a bit miserable though.”

Asmara, Brixton (Bar / Restaurant)
“Its easy to dismiss this place from the outside but give Asmara a chance and you won't be disappointed. Fantastic Eritrean food, honey wine and lovely, genuinely friendly service. This is what makes Brixton unique and not Clapham, try something different to the usual bland 'modern european' fare that seems to be served everywhere. ”

“Nice for a drink, but I would rather starve than eat here again, the food is revolting slop and overpriced - try Baroque in West Ealing for a trendy bar with good food.”

The Roadhouse, West End (Bar / Restaurant / Club)
“Roadhouse goes off, get in early for no door charge cos it does get full, drinks are cheapest around Covent Garden and they have a bonus late night happy hour from 10pm til 11pm. The barstaff are unbelievable with their flair skills, they hold a competition every month where other bartenders come to take them on. Great music - bit of everything, even have live bands recommend you check it out.”

Mazza, Putney (Restaurant)
“One of the best Indian restaurants to open up in London. Cool trendy setting and fabulous food. Beer only £1.95 per bottle and wine at £7.50 per bottle and all profits from alcohol go to charity! We tried Mazza a couple of weeks ago and are hooked on the place. This is Indian casual dining at its best.”

Hakkasan Hanway Place, Bloomsbury (Bar / Restaurant)
“Off a beaten down track, you walk down dodgy dark streets to almost a scene from a 40's film noir, feeling almost Humphrey Bogartish only to be met face to face by the funkiest Cocktail bar in London. Yes, its a celebrity haunt, but no-one in this venue is star-spotting; as it pulls an interesting mix of personalities and wallet sizes. As a cocktail bartender myself and having visited the better lounges and bars in the capital (Lab, Detroit, Player, Dusk etc) let me start with the drinks themselves. Boasting an incredible selection of original connoctions that can make a connosiuer change the 'on the rocks' trend, the choice of spirits is to truly behold. You end up getting off your bar stool and walking down to the other end of the bar to check out he rest of the vodka selection for your Dry Martini! The preference of fresh exotic fruit, to sickly sweetened puree's that you find in most places, is a nice touch too. The second most important criteria to an excpetional bar is the service and the people skills of your hosts. The Ling Ling lounge is out of sorts in this respect. Walking through the grand staircase, we were met by the 'doubt you can afford this place' welcome from the door and reception staff. Walking up to the bar this perception changed, many thanks to the non-pretensions of the bartenders and cocktail waiteresses. After the incredibly knowledgeable mixing of an Old Fashioned by the Italian bartender/entertainer Daniel, we were subject to s”

Cat's Back, Wandsworth (Bar)
“It's my local and I think its the best pub around. The atmosphere is always electric whether there is 2 people or 50. Its one of those rare places that still exists which has that home feel where the staff and other punters add to that vibe of being somewhere safe and homely. I love it I just sometimes wish it were a little bigger.”

Lowlife, Marylebone (Bar)
“I must admit to living in the neighborhood only a few months - enough time to visit a few locals and take a couple of trips out of the neighbourhood in the evenings to check out a few other spots around the city. So far, Lowlife is it. It's the perfect special local. The food is (most often) excellent, the service is prompt, professional and attentive. Mostly - i enjoy the atmosphere. It's the kind of bar you can meet a friend at, and if she's (of he) is 20 minutes late, it's OK. the staff look after you and you feel relaxed.”

“Really well designed hosting a very sussed and laid-back crowd BUT totally let down by the quality of drinks. If you're going to offer a cocktail list, then make sure your bar staff are trained. Our barmaid had no clue and admitted she'd never made cocktails before! Madness. Still love the design though...”

“Excellent bar, it's not cheap, but it's great for a sophisticated night out without going into town. The food is good and great value for money, the cocktails aren't cheap but the quality of the drinks certainly make up for it. The DJ on Saturday played some really cool tunes - there was a really good vibe about the place - worth a visit! ”

From full meals as well as interesting beers- such as Waggledance, Kronenbourg Blanc, and Savanna dry cider (imported from SA.) Chill out daytime and listen to the cool sounds or join the fun in the evening. This place is a real must for all pub goers.”
