“Fantasic little place, tucked away on a corner of Hoxton Sq. Cool funky music, great interior decor (leather couches, stylish tables and lamps), a young and interesting crowd, and quality food & drink. Very welcoming on a cold, dark winter''s night!”

“Stuningly good place if you like homely venues where you can quietly drink good hot chocolate... (and read a book in a corner of the garden).”

“I can see why its not for everyone but I have enjoyed so many nights dow there with my girlfriend. The atmosphere is really easy. Wouldnt like to comment on the music policy too much though cause I think cool and trendy people dont tell everyone what is suppose to be cool and trendy!! Thats not cool!! Nor trendy!”

La Mazorca, Brixton (Bar)
“I went to La Mazorca with a friend on saturday. It had a beautifully warm and lively atmosphere. The food was delicious and the portions were resonable and very filling. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and there is live Latino music. The service was good and the waitresses were extremely polite and good-mannered. A great dining experience and a highly recommended restaurant.”

“Very beautiful restauration but can be cold and drafty in winter. Friendly regulars pulled in from a wide area as it is the classiest pub for miles. Food in our experience has never disappointed although towards the the upper end of pub grub pricing. Some lively music events and occasionally special events. Open late. The female staff are all babes.”

“For a midweek venue i(Wed 24/11/04) t was absolutely great. We arrived a bit late for the first band Sound Vision who were rocking but sadly we only heard their last two songs. Would like to have heard some more but there were another couple of bands playing also good. Drinks were a bit on the dear side but it is Putney I suppose. A little more ventilation for the gig room would have been nice but all in all a very enjoyable night. Tks”

“This is a great little place. Good food, reasonable prices (two people can eat here with house wine for around £25) and very friendly staff. Great for vegetarians - the crispy chill and salt tofu is delicious.”

“Arrogant staff with very little skill at actually running a bar. Filthy open kitchen in a pub full of chain smokers??? Beers tend to be overpriced and taste of cleaning fluid. the occasional reasonable art exhibition. The food, though cooked in a sewer, would be ok at half the price, but is way too expensive and distinctly average. i have a few friends who think this pub is ok - the atmos is ok, lots of QVC types and antipodeans from some local removal firm - but it only takes a couple of pints before they give in and we pile off up the pavilion up the road - or even the Eagle, for gods sake. There is more to running a bar than shopping in the notting hill clothes exchange and wearing your jeans too big guys... with a bit of effort, maybe £50 a week spent on a cleaner, and perhaps a proper kitchen this could probably be a reasonable boozer.”

“Great little place just off northcote road. Average cocktails but quite acceptable for the price (happy hour 6.00pm - 8.00pm mon- thurs). The cosy chilled out atmosphere, and groovy tunes make it a good venue for after work drinks.”

“The unsmiling Australian barmaid was very rude. The atmosphere was very tense, the cost of our drinks and food was poor quality and cold. The food took a long time to arrive and when I passed the kitchen to use the toilets, I noticed some chefs messing around. This place will not see my hard earned money again.”

“We were approx 15 guests attending a birthday party yesterday in the basement. The dancefloor is very spacious and the DJ''s selection of music was very good (allround). However the glasscollector had a mission to continously collect half full drinks and it more than once looked like we were in his way. The bouncers also had their fair level of attitide, in the way they were bringing their messages across.”

“We came for our daughter''s 21st and from the moment we made the original booking we had brilliant service. The decor in the (cheaper) downstairs restaurant is 1930s gorgeous (the ladies loo included) and the atmosphere at dinner very special. Numerous waiters, all looking like they''re enjoying themselves, and really delicious food eg. blinis of smoked salmon and fromage frais with herbs, poulet de landes en cocotte - 3 courses for £26.50 from a Marco Pierre White-trained chef is v.g. value. House wines are excellent and well priced. A great location too - the taxi ride though Soho on a Saturday night was an adventure in itself.”

“Worst service I''ve ever experienced - waiter was extremely rude sarcastic and aggressive. The food was good although not particularly good value for money. Atmosphere was totally spoilt by the attitude of the waiter.”
