The Duke on the Green 235 New King's Road, London, SW6 4XG (Map)

This could be a lovely pub, but service is slow and there is nothing more annoying than queueing at the bar and bar staff serving others that have come to the bar after you. It's the simplest thing to... More Atmosphere: Value: Quality:

“Speaking from experience - a fantastic venue for a wedding! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. A beautiful wedding setting for both the ceremony and reception. A real bonus was the events manager Oleia and the team who worked extremely hard to ensure the day ran smoothly. Even when a few curve balls were thrown at them by the wedding party they handled everything with extreme professionalism. The friendly and efficient staff created a relaxed atmoshphere and meant that we could all enjoy a stress-free wedding. The BBQ food was wonderful, really tasty and plenty of it. Alcohol was also available in abundance with very prompt refills. Everything was well organised and coordinated. Genuinely the guests, family and friends all had a great time and extremely positive comments. Thank you to all at Beauberry House for making a special day wonderful!”

Tamada, Maida Vale & St Johns Wood (Restaurant)
“My partner and I dined at Tamada last week for our anniversary and had a wonderful meal. The service was excellent, not too fussy. We had a Georgian sparkling wine first which was lovely and then continued with a red wine Satrapezo which was recommended by the waitress. It was not cheap but it was worth it! The food was excellent in every way and would recommend a visit to anyone. We shared a cheese bread and a chicken in walnut sauce and then I had a spicy lamb in wine and plum sauce and my partner had a flat fried chicken in garlic sauce, which not only look but smelled excellent. At the end we had a walnut cake which was perfection! I felt like I had died and gone to heaven. This was our first time at Tamada and it lived up to all our expectations. We would definitely come back.”

“London gay scene worse bar experience. The use signs of serious negative preconceptions of its gay clientele. This place contracts a type of staff, the security guy and the annoying not needed toilet attendant, that seem to enjoy the power they have been given, and use to intimidate the innocence clients. If you want to be accused of having sex anytime that you need to go the toilets, or face the aggressive imposition of been shout to pay for washing your hands Rupper Street Soho bar is you place.”

London Steakhouse Co. City, City of London (Bar / Restaurant)
“This place is great. They're clearing aiming for a classic bistro look and, frankly, they've nailed it. It's classy and unpretentious, and the slightly ambitious dress code listed on the website doesn't actually seem to translate into any expectations on the door, which is good news if you're naturally scruffy. The food is excellent and the portions large. They focus on their steaks, which are very good, but from what we could see just about everything looks great. Service was also very good despite how obviously busy everyone was. Overall a very good experience, though you may find it helpful to ignore the artfully-taken shots of the main man himself adorning every horizontal surface.”

The Summerhouse, Maida Vale & St Johns Wood (Restaurant)
“Considering it's parked on a canal opposite a housing estate, the Summerhouse does a damn good job of convincing you you're sitting next to the Thames somewhere up near Richmond. The occasional passing flotillas of ducks help with this. The food falls somewhere between haute cuisine and traditional English fish'n'chips stuff, and does both pretty well. Slight question mark over some of the prices, but I suppose you're paying for the atmosphere too. The staff are friendly without being obtrusive and the service was excellent throughout. I'd definitely go back - it's possibly not the best value for money around but the food is delicious and the venue itself pretty charming. The ducks don't like the breadsticks, but what do they know?”

“Ridiculously fun place to be. I may not be a huge bowler but that didn't really matter too much. We danced and drank and then got roped into doing karaoke...........needless to say I had drunk quite a few by then! The whole place was really relaxed and I am definitely going to be going back again and spending the entire night there (but away from the karaoke ha)!!”

“Where do I start?? This place is certainly different, a kind of retro, american themed bowling alley, club, bar, AND restaurant. It's like an adult playground! A group of us came down and had such an amazing time, we bowled and sang karaoke (apologies to anyone my out of tune voice offended lol), needless to say we were a bit drunk by the end and we were all giggling like schoolgirls. I would highly reccomend this place to anyone looking to have a chilled out, hilarious night out away from your run of the mill chain rubbish that are on every street corner.”

“Been a few times to give it a chance- each time hoping it would get better. Service is the worst I have ever experienced. Everything else is OK but last two times we waited over 40mins for a drink and never received the food we ordered. Never again - shame as the rest is OK. Avoid.”

The Blue Anchor, Hammersmith (Bar)
“I chose the Blue Anchor as it was reasonably near to Fulham football ground and was really looking forward to going there and having a nice meal and a roast beef meal b4 the game. We duly arrived about 1pm to an empty pub which had no meals prepared and we had to wait for about 20 minute for a meal that was just boil in the bag and included the stringiest toughest beef i have ever tasted no yorkshires but bread. What a waste of time & money. The beer selection is limited and the bar staff have no knowledge of beer thinking that Mild is a weak bitter. I used to use this pub on a regular basis in the 80s and cannot believe what has happened to it. Best advice save your money and find the nearest Wetherspoons. Highlight of the visit seeing the West Ham fans chartered cruiser passing by !!!”

Dim T, South Bank & Bankside (Restaurant)
“Dim T is a great place. The value for money is excellent. u won't pay more than 10 for a main course and the food is really of a high quality. The only thing that really annoyed me was that the waiting staff are constantly trying to sell you extras eg: sides, starters and desserts. Really annoying when i already knew what i wanted and had already ordered starters drinks and sides. Very irritating. It's a great place for a first date with the view of tower bridge just outside. Also, if you are new to london i recommend taking yourself along as it is based in the one of the nicest places in london if you ask me.”

“I go to the yard most nights after work, its got such a relaxed atmosphere and attentive staff. i have got to know the manager there and he is very funny and charming. and from what i have seen he keeps his staff and customers very happy. i can see the managers reasons, as asking him just for red wine is a bit vague and if he is busy running the two floors he would be a little rushed, but thats my opinion.”

Whites Gentlemen's Club, City of London (Bar / Club)
“I often go to gentlemen's clubs to see how people do things different but i got to tell you this club has got it spot on, it is really relaxed for a lapdancing club, the girls dont drive you mad, the actual club is beautiful chandeliers and cotton covered walls make it very sumptuous but the thing that separates it from the other clubs is its VIP rooms, especially the attention to detail, i asked the girl i was with about the vip areas and she gave me a guided tour. it starts with the office room, supposedly copied from an office in parliament in the 60s it has a leather topped desk directors chair a chesterfield and a globe bar, do you remember them? this was the room for me without a doubt so i did'nt bother seeing the other rooms, however the other rooms available were the dungeon, or the school room, i never saw these rooms so can't comment on them but all i can say is oh my god, i booked the room for an hour and had dom perignon served from the globe bar by my lovely host, it is without doubt the best gentlemen's club in london, not just the VIP part all of it, the relaxed atmosphere, and friendly staff, i cannot recommend this club enough if you are in the city with a few quid then go to whites, you will love it. sweeting”

“Love the Dogstar! We always go here. It's been our local pub for the past year and had too many good times. It's open late every night so if we're out in the area then we always drop in. The bar staff are really friendly, the DJs play the best music and they do pizza and I love pizza!!! :)”

The Cardinal, Kingston (Bar)
“I can only guess it's because the other reviews of this pub are so old that the customers weren't happy. I've started using this pub regularly and find it friendly and welcoming. The decor is cosy and contemporary and the food is excellent with a good range of choices available. In fact I am so taken with the Cardinal I'm going to be having my wedding there!”

Hated

"Girls were rude demanding tips for a poor show. If this is the best club London has to offer don't bother going anywhere else in the city." Which venue is this?
