“Thank the lord, The Cambria has new owners and we now have a beautifully transformed local pub! Until this week, the food was absolutely awful and the atmosphere was depressing with TV screens and neon lights on every corner.... now we have a funky atmosphere, live jazz and a Sunday roast that left us feeling very happy indeed…”

Bar Social, Clapham (Bar / Restaurant / Club)
“After reading all the rave reviews about this bar, I went with a friend to meet the manager & reserve an area for my birthday party. I'm so glad I picked this place as had friends coming from all over UK & wanted a fun, relaxed & intimate place that wouldn't charge £8 a drink & where we could all have a great night. That's exactly what we got... lovely staff, no extortionate minimum bar spend like most places, very reasonable & varied drink selection, great mix of music. Every one of my friends was raving about my choice so thanks to all at Bar Social for making my birthday perfect & I would strongly recommend this place to anyone who wants a hassle-free night with their friends...for any occasion!”

“The place looks nice from outside but it's a real shame about the music. Only played house/electro type stuff and weren't interested in changing it up. They have a very silly policy about not letting people in after 11pm, all makes for not a very cool club.”

Tuttons Brasserie, West End (Bar / Restaurant)
“Me and my wife came across tuttons by chance on our way to the theatre and thought it looked very nice. we had an hour to kill so we thought we would have a drink out on the terrace, which turned into us also eating some of your delicious food. We were greeted extremely warmly by a lovely young lady with a big smile. Our waitress from sweden, camilla i think it was, is an absolute asset to your establishment. The drinks were perfect, starters amazing, crab and duck salad, but my tuna was not cooked correctly. I pointed this out to camilla who apologised straight away and took the dish away. After 10 minutes a very professional looking and ever so spritely young man bought over the tuna with many an apology, he checked back after 2 minutes to make sure everything was ok, which it was, he said his name was mat and if i needed anything then to please speak to camilla or himself. I have been eating in restaurants for many years and have always walked passed tuttons and thought like every other restaurant in the area, rock garden, maxwells etc.... it was a tourist trap, boy was i wrong. Tuttons is certainly a diamond in the rough. The service charge, be it high at 15% was worth ever penny if not more. I went to the theatre thoroughly exuberated about the way i was made to feel at your resrtaurant. i will certainly return and will be recommending you highly to all of my friends. Keep up the good work and a big thank you to camilla and mat for making our 20th wedding anniversary eve”

Satay Bar, Brixton (Bar / Restaurant)
“I cannot praise the Satay Bar highly enough. Our party of six (ranging from 12 to 53 yr) were all catered for admirably. My partner, who has spent a lot of time in the Far East, said the Singapore Noodles were the best he had ever had. My Penang Fish Curry was sublime as was my starter - Crab Fishcakes. Apart from the buzzy atmosphere the one thing that deserves particular praise is the staff. The manager is immensely professional as well as being extremely personable. The staff are attentive and efficient. I would most certainly go back.”

“I wouldn't set foot in this place again as a result. If the calibre of service at a venue is important to you I would urge you to go elsewhere - it is quite simply dreadful at this place.”

The Yard Bar, Soho (Bar)
“I've been to this bar a number of times over the course of about 10 years but I have to say that I don't think I'll be going again. Basically, if you're a woman, the bar staff aren't vaguely interested in serving you. Secondly, if you dare to ask for more ice, a slice of lemon, a larger glass, instead of accommodating your request with a cheery smile, the surly bar staff essentially throw it at you. Coupled with the fact that the same round came to two different prices on two different occasions (presumably I had to pay for the extra ice on the first occasion) and that if you're lucky enough to get change, it is presented to you on a silver tray thereby "encouraging" you to leave a tip (highly unlikely since I'm paying for ICE) I'm afraid that the whole experience has completely altered my view of the venue and I won't be returning. Oh, and one more thing. If you wanted something on draught, you could have anything you wanted as long as it was Grolsch. The Carling, Coors, Strongbow and Guiness were all off. On the plus side, all the other clientele in the venue were very pleasant, toilets were clean and good door security is provided.”

“We hired two of the private rooms for a private birthday dinner and drinks. The evening was fantastic. The rooms looked great, food was extremely good and the waiting staff was the best, really helpful and professional. I will definitely recommend The Groucho Club to all my friends. Great Venue.”

“Very average food at above average prices. Unfortunately the customer service wasn't much better. A poor attempt at modern, fusion Asian cuisine. We won't be returning.”

Gourmet Burger Kitchen (GBK), Hampstead (Restaurant)
“Well if you're looking for a good meal experience you won't get one here. The staff's command of english is poor. That's not too bad though. We ordered 2 lagers and I asked for some lime cordial in mine. Not available. Some lemonade then. Sorry only sell you a bottle. Some fresh lime possibly? No we don't have that. We ordered a Moroccan chicken salad and 2 burgers and some crunchy broad beans and wasabi peas to nibble on before the food arrived. No crunch here as they didn't arrive. The waiter didn't understand why we weren't impressed. The salad came looking good but without any dressing and they don't do a dressing either, just a bowl of olive oil. What did the salad come with? Hey a fat half lime which wasn't available a little while ago. Hey ho. The food was passable. When I ordered another beer the supervisor brought me a bill for the difference between the additional drink and the missing crunchy beans. When I paid for this at the end of our meal experience I handed over a £20 note and got change for £10. When I questioned this I was immediately given the right change. We also got a buy one meal get one free voucher. We won't be using it. Average food, indifferent service, odd way to treat customers - yup, it's all at Gourmet Burger Kitchen.”

“Don't Go!! I have lived in London for 6 years & have never come across such rudeness & arrogance from the bar staff. Their attitude was despicable… beyond belief, totally. As for the bar itself?.. Tasteless decor & average drinks.. Go to Sosho's near Moorgate instead, great place! ”

Marimba, Wimbledon (Bar / Restaurant)
“I have visited Marimba a couple of times now an have had a great time, every time! The staff are friendly and efficient, they make you feel welcome the moment you walk through the doors and waste no time when preparing your order. There is a good selection of imported larger and cyders, pints are served in frosted glasses!!! The food is great and allways on time! I would recommend the Ostrich fillet and the Boerewors sausage.”

“Nice interior but overpriced and, if you don't look like the the usual, upper class, Islington crowd, expect to be served last and the service to be minimal. They even had the nerve to charge gratuity on my bill! Never again!!”

Lyric Tavern, Soho (Bar)
“The review above suggests that the Lyric Tavern is not a destination pub, but I disagree... It's not very often that you get a pub in Soho that has that welcoming local feel. We went out of our way today to have a Sunday roast there, having eaten there before, we knew the food was good. As Always the service was prompt, friendly and not overly priced. I'd say the best two things about this place is the friendly staff and the lovely food! BIG thumbs up!”

Spaniards Inn, Hampstead (Bar)
“The early history is wrong... the original buildings where built in 1585, but NOT as an Inn. Richard Turpin was born in Essex (either Hempstead or Thaxted), son of John Turpin keeper of the Crown Inn in Hempstead. Also Richard never had a horse called 'Black Bess' and he was not the Highwayman to ride from the south to York. The Highwayman who did ride from Kent to York was a John Nevison, nown as Swift Nick.”
