Wine & Bread, Brent Cross & Hendon (Bar / Restaurant)
“Wine and Bread is a warm, family-run Portugese restaurant in Hendon, North London, with extremely reasonable prices. We have eaten there on several occasions and love the fact that the food is simple, honest and home-cooked. The atmosphere is warm and informal (but great for a romantic meal). Share a Cataplana De Ameijoas com Carne - a really tasty and hearty disk of clams with chorico, bacon, pork and potatoes. We also love the home-made desserts (we had a chocolate and coffee moose last time, which was fantastic). But that is not where it ends. We noticed that the restaurant has a separate section at the back - a narrow but long section with beautiful decor and enough room to seat 20 diners. So I had my 30th birthday there! And it was fantastic! Kadir and Marcia did everything possible to help. They supplied a really tasty hot and cold mixed buffet. But they have also thought of the little touches that make special occasions special - such as having an MP3 player that takes memory sticks, so all you need to do is bring your favorite music on a USB stick and you're sorted. The same goes for a memory stick with photos on (Kadir helped us set up a slideshow on the large TV they have in the private area). As you probably can tell, I can't praise Wine and Bread highly enough! Kadir and Marcia are just so friendly and welcoming, the food is simple, home-cooked and tasty and my birthday was a huge success because they took the time to discuss my every requirement with me.”

“Great much post. Group of four went to grab a bite the other day and we were astonished by the flavor of the food we all had. It's pretty amazing and the place is a cool casual hangout.”

“Great venue, used to be an bit more traditional local but they’ve had a little revamp, still quite charming and seems better managed with a better garden and decor. No cocktail venue and not high end but enjoyable.”

“A hidden gem, The Nag's Head is everything you could ask for in a traditional London pub. Small and cosy with friendly staff, good beers at reasonable prices and tradition - lots of it. Highly recommended.”

Boujis Nightclub, Kensington (Bar / Club)
“The location of the club is nice, in the heart of kensington, but the club atmosphere is the worst in london: they let a lot of young girls enter for free, while man cannot enter if they are without a girl (they ask in the entrance if they know each other). You cannot enter if you don't wear hills (for girls) and suit (for man). When you are inside, you can't stay in the waiting room; so if you are waiting for a person or just phoning, a secutiry arrives and in an unpolite way say to move outside or downstairs inside the club; and if you try to say something they answer you badly. The worst club in London for me”

“A good pub spoilt by one of the most ignorant gits of a barman ever to walk god's green earth. Stereotypical Aussie gobber with an attitude a mile wide. If you don't like serving people, don't work in a pub”

“I'm not if Majella went to the same Tap East as I have because I had a fantastic time there. I went to the tapping party on Wednesday to sample their first brew, the Tap East Extra Stout definitely hit the spot! The staff are a fantastic bunch, very knowledgable as are the owners and the brewer. Fantastic variety of beers, great wee setup in the Great Eastern Market, peaceful location. Beers are always changing, so its a great experience at every visit. My wife loved the NZ Sav Blanc. I will definately be frequenting this venue. All the best Tap East crew! Oh and YES there is a toilet :D.”

“Went to The Roxy for my friend's 18th on a Saturday and had a brilliant night. Though the majority of people were older than us, in their 20s/early 30s, the atmosphere was very friendly and everyone just wanted to have a good time. The door management were really friendly and I saw no trouble throughout the night. The music was brilliant, a good mix of classics and contemporary. Though not the most coolest club, you will have a good time just dancing and drinking yourself silly.”

“I like what Young's have done here. It doesn't feel like a Young's bar/restaurant. It feels very new, but in a retro-industrial way. A good mix of styles to keep the middle class SW-ers happy. A great addition to the area. It needed a bit of life. Now it has loads. I recommend going for sharing, small plate options. And try to get a cosy seat because it can get quite loud in there.”

“Fantastic small plates and brunches and even dinners with booze; this really is a one-stop shop. Great tunes, lively crowd, brilliant decor, back-street hidden gem appeal, I love this place. Made even better because the secret Mayor of Scaredy Cat Town bar entrance is here too. What is not to like?!!”

“Love what they've done with this place. It looks much more inviting than the previous Firefly bar. The dark fencing and flames out front have been replaced with white fencing and tasteful rustic furnishings. A good selection of beers inside (some guest drinks on draught) plus a cosy fire and an ornate spiral staircase. Have eaten here yet but very much looking forward to coming back.”
