Funky Munky, Peckham & Camberwell (Bar / Restaurant / Club)
“This bar has been recently been refurbished and now has a better layout including a bigger dancing area. The place is great for a late drink Thurs-Sat, with average priced drinks. The crowd are mainly students in grunge/hippy clothes. The staff on a whole are cool. On a negative note it seems the management haven''t really learnt their lessons from before, they still leave the dance floor area stacked up with chairs and tables whcih doesnt ultilise the free space and they cram far to many people in the place which makes it difficult to get to the bar. ”

“I dont understand these negative reviews, maybe you all went on one very bad night? I go to M&H regularly and only ever get really good service by friendly staff. The bar is not pretentious and is certainly not playing on being ''secret'' anymore. It was only ''secret'' in the first place so as not to attract the normal Heat reader crowd that can ruin many a great bar when it becomes the ''in place'' to go. Anyway it can hardly be secret after winning so many awards. Dont let negative review put you off going to a great bar, which serves brilliant drinks, he has been voted Londons best bar and deservedly so in my opinion.”

“Absolutely awfull - i have no idea how this dirty, dingy cellar is supposed to be the best bar in London. The management were so so rude- the rudest i have ever encountered in London. There is no atmosphere- just dull and boring. The whole ''book ahead'' and ''secret unmarked entrance'' is so far up it''s own ****, that''s its a joke. I would not recommend this place to anyone- not even to go and see just how bad it is... you''ll get a much better night out and loads more fun in the old mans pub next door.”

“Yes - same experience. Nasty attitudes from management... Poor food. No booking. Just save your money and go somewhere else.... Membership is easy to get despite the hype - there are no celebrities there not to talk about! Its become a dingy basment run by people who watch too much violent telly. 30''s Speakeasy is only the theme guys - don''t take it too far with the behaviour!”

“A really inviting menu - so nice to have the generous tapas portions when it all looks this good! We went on a Friday night, so had great service, with friendly staff able to advise on the best cocktail to fit our previous drinks and future food. Will returnagain soon .......”

“I have to say that this bar - along with the licensee is the worst place I have ever been in. He is so ignorant and rude to customers - I thought I was the only one - it is a disgrace that this is allowed to continue. ”

The Oxford and Cambridge, Hammersmith (Bar)
“as a user .regularly on a thursday (dart nights) a friendly and lively atmosphere, all punters made welcome, weekends can be slow at times but if a function of any sort is happening then a good night will sure to follow, as most users are mostly regulars it caters for an influx of hammersmith opollo goers. It must be said that the oxford & cambridge has one of the most efficient bar managers (daniel) running the establishment in the area.”

The Gallery, Finchley (Bar)
“went to the gallery for first time last night. very nice atmosphere, took a few mins to get a seat, which luckily was in the gallery section. i ordered a caiprinia, which the barman was obviously not happy to make and consequently it was the worst i''ve ever had. other than that, i''d def. go back as it looked nice, food looked good and there is a small restaurant in the basement. busy and lively, took less than a min to get served. ”

The Clapham North, Clapham (Bar)
“as nice as the food and (usually) the atmosphere is, I would not advise anyone to go to this pub. The measures are always short for drinks, and the place is rampant with thieves. I had my purse stolen one evening, and then within two weeks three of my friends had had their bags/wallets/phones stolen and hundreds of pounds taken off their accounts. Just be careful - food is great during the day, but I would advise not to go near it at night. music is pretty non-descript as well,.”

“This place has lost it...... the staff have veered from the arrogant to the vicious. Membership revoked if you complain - food pitiful - staff in terror of managers The aim of a quiet classy joint has now turned into a hateful basement of pseuds run by escaped lifers. Avoid, avoid, avoid”

Brixton Bar & Grill, Brixton (Bar)
“Really trendy, just what clapham and brixton needs. Reminds me of something you''d find in east music, good cocktails which are worth the cash. really nice dim candle light and relaxed atmosphere....only probs are not enough staff so waiter service can take AGES on a sat night and if you order a cocktail thats hard to make you will be waiting for 30mins till they work out how to make it! Also communal loos are not good for girls when boys are pissing all over the seats!!!”

The Eagle, Shoreditch (Bar)
“Just a quick line about The Eagle.... This pub has just started opening at weekends (this summer). Usually very busy with the local workforce during the week we were pleasantly surprised to discover how chilled it is at weekends. The Eagle is quietly developing a laid-back sunday session just slightly away from the more hectic areas of Hoxton & Angel. Two roast lunches are on offer - priced reasonably at £8 and portions big enough to make you feel sleepy on their comfy sofas. Papers / plants etc are run of the mill these days but The Eagle doesn''t seem to be pretentious about what it offers. Service is fast, friendly and efficient, and although no cocktail list was on offer they make superb bloody mary''s, have a pleasing and well-priced wine list, wide selection of belgian beers on tap and in bottles, and always stock three real ales which apparently are rotated weekly, and always well-kept!!! Also I found out the pub is always available for hire on Saturdays with no seperate hire charge (unusual for N1), and last time I was in they were rigging up garden heaters to make full use of their gorgeous beer garden during the winter months. The Eagle feels like a well-kept secret so maybe I should keep it to myself, but at this rate Sundays especially are getting busier and busier and often by four or five pm the roast has sold out!!!!”

The Alma, Stoke Newington (Bar / Restaurant)
“having watched the alma''s progress with interest over the past 12 months you can say nothing but what an improvment. The area itself has needed a gastro pub of this quality for some time (not forgetting the house and centuria of course). Ok so mayb some early problems with staff and food, but only open for a short time, give them a chance! Oh i think you may have guessed it. I really like it there! I will continue to go and watch with interest. WELL WORTH A VISIT”

The Camel, Marylebone (Bar)
“After hearing great reviews about the Camel we were expecting a trendy London nightspot - little did we know that this obviously didn''t apply to Saturday nights. Decent music is a must when you go out, but the DJ was absolutely shocking. Not just the way the DJ played the records but the records themselves. I am sure that there will be many people that will disagree with me regarding the Halloween party, but I can only sumise that this adds up to their lack of knowledge of what a good night truly consists of.”

O'Neill's, Soho (Bar)
“Yes, its true the the bouncers are true w@nkers - good points though - its HUGE and has a great atmosphere, free club if you get there before about 9.00 - bad points, its generally 80% blokes on a saturday night, with groups large groups of Chech workmen and Aussies all looking for a shag.”
