Great venue for a party I went to friend's 30th Birthday Party and the atmosphere was amazing, the staff were friendly and the cocktails excellent. More Atmosphere: Value: Quality:

The Camel & Artichoke, Waterloo (Bar)
“We visited the Camel pub at Waterloo last Saturday night. We were pleasantly surprised as we had never been in before. They do fantastic cocktails andgreat food as well. Nothing was a hassle for the friendly staff and the Manager was charming and hilarious (and good looking.....) We're going back this weekend.”

“Went there for dinner on a saturday night and found the food to be amazing. The staff were friendly, and there knowedge of their products led me and my group to stay for the Dj. We stumbled out of there at the end of the night after one to many Mojhitos. Strange as we did not plan on staying. Will be back next bank holiday for their beach party. ”

“Tne most fun I've had on a night out in a very long time. If you like bars to be divey this is definitely one for you. You will not be wowed by the designer decor, inventive cocktail list or elite clientelle. Personally that is not my cup of tea anyway. What you do get is an excellent dance floor, the most eclectic and unashamed play list from the DJ that can switch between Sean Paul, Elvis, the Smiths and Aretha Franklin without warning, a good atmosphere from an exuberant crowd and reasonable bar prices.”

The Czech and Slovak Club, Finchley (Bar / Restaurant)
“Upon arriving we found that no seats were available due to various young people hording seats for friends who had not yet arrived (amazingly one chap with 8 to himself!). We asked the staff politely if they could assist given that we were intended to have a meal and there were free tables, just lacking the chairs. We were rather taken aback to be informed that we could either wait until someone left or leave now as to quote “our custom was not really required”. I do appreciate that this is one of only a few Czech / Slovak venues in London, but given their web-site offers the promise of a ‘a warm welcome to all who want to experience the atmosphere of a Czech bar and restaurant’ I found this attitude totally unacceptable. Having visited the Czech Republic several times I can truly say that Prague is one of the most beautiful cities in the world and the people most hospitable. Unfortunately this venue is obviously lacking in any form of customer care and I have nothing positive to pass comment on. Given our experience I would strongly recommend avoiding this establishment at all costs. ”

Satay Bar, Brixton (Bar / Restaurant)
“The Satay bar is a gem in the heart of Brixton. The indonesian specialties are a real delight (especially the Rendang Ayam chicken and coconut rice), the staff is attentive and the athmosphere is laid back, unpretentious but cool. Thursday nights are particularly attractive with live music (soul/rnb acoustic). The DJ nights at the weekend are also a real treat. Highly recommended.”

The Baring, Shoreditch (Bar)
“A beautifully decorated pub with a cosy fireplace, leather couches and delicious food. The staff make you feel welcome as soon as you step through the door, with the odd bit of unexpected table service just adding to the experience. As the others state, it can be tricky to find, but its secret location just adds to the charm - a peaceful retreat among the hustle & bustle of this city. ”

“This place has one of the nicest bar gardens around. Easily one of the best place for drinking on a summer's afternoon; the food is pretty reasonable too. The coldharbour lane factor keeps the idiots at bay so the place is a little like the Sun in Clapham, only nicer and less congested. I wish they'd say no to some of the artwork though. I am a little left-field with my taste in art.”

“Maybe I was just unfortunate to pick a bad evening but Saturday night was bad. Walking in to the sound of the Ghostbusters did not inspire confidence in the music and this theme seemed to continue for the rest of the evening. This was coupled with the pricey beverages and absolutley embarrassing entertainment (if you can call it that - a group of girls and a lad prancing about on stage). Luckily my friends saved the evening. I wont be going back - the Grand not for me - it's too like Little House Nn The Prairy!”

Brixton Bar & Grill, Brixton (Bar)
“I was scared to go here after seeing your reviews but a friend had made the booking and it was too late to cancel. To my surprise though the staff were really friendly - almost too eager to please! Didn't have to wait at all and it was very busy.Drinks are pretty expensive and food portions are minute. After seeing your reviews I had a sandwich and a pint before going there, which helped. Atmosphere was fine, a bit 'rah, rah rugby shirt' downstairs, but generally can't fault the service or the staff. Perhaps they've fired the offending waiter/bouncer from hell?”

Clapham Grand, Clapham (Bar / Club)
“This place is an absloute dive designed purely for extracting as much money from punters and placing it into the pockets of the rude agressive and frankly fat management. On a Saturday night we arrived to walk straight into a fight on the dancefloor that the bouncers seemed uninterested in halting. Not wanting to spoil the night we remortgaged our house to buy the fetid and flourescent piss imported by white van from a polish garage that was laughingly considered an alcopop. No sooner were we upstairs on the balcony than five female 'dancers' (if the term can be applied to scantily but unusually badly clad girls executing moves coreographed by an epileptic who once watched a Beyonce video) took to the stage. It seemed to the attention of the slack jawed shaven heads on the dancefloor, but was almost the last straw for the girls in our group. The final insult was the pasty David Beckham look-a-like that followed, bounding onto stage and pretending to be in a Run DMC video, whilst almost conciously dancing out of time. All that within 10 minutes of entering the club. We tried to get our money back, but it seems the manager had already spent the cash on cheap aftershave. Do not go here.”
