Hush 8 Lancashire Court, Brook Street, Mayfair, London, W1S 1EY (Map)

I visited hush on the recommendation of an old friend (who considers herself a bit of a know it all when it comes to restuarants) and had the best time! The food here is amazing - just the kind a treat... More Atmosphere: Value: Quality:

“The problem with this place is that you get charged service fees- the waiters never see that if its put on your credit card. The staff arent trained, and the managers never make a point of making their staff feel welcome, so its not like the staff are going to make you feel anymore special! All just as impersonal. They overemphasize their potential without actually pulling it off. They want to have fresh juice, but that adds an extra 30minutes to someone's Bloody Mary, while all you want is a Cold Beer. Its just not worth it there.”

“a cool little labyrinth of a venue with 3 great dance rooms and two chill out areas, plenty of bars, outside smoking area with shelter and food, and miles of girls toilets kept in great condidtion by the friendly attendant. The super loud new sound system in the far room needs bedding in (or earplugs handed out at the door) but then you aren't there to chat anyway!”

The Goat, Clapham (Bar / Restaurant)
“This place used to be some dingy O'Neills type place full of sports fans and shouting. Then they got rid of the TVs and started playing some decent tunes instead. Now it's got a much more relaxed atmosphere. If you want to go and have a decent afternoon pub meal with relatively inexpensive wine on a weekend without the intrusion of football or rugby, you can look no further than The Goat. It's almost unique in that respect. And boys, a tip for you, because of the lack of sport and the comfortable surroundings, this one is particularly popular with the ladies. I'll leave the rest to you.”

“My boyfriend and I checked this place out before getting on the Eurostar to Paris. We'd been to the champagne bar upstairs before so were looking for something a little different that wasn't too far away from our train. The food was of excellent quality (the charcuterie plate was enough to keep me going) and the atmosphere was created solely by the glass people-watching frontage and cavernous interior. But we did feel it was a tad expensive and next time we take the train might opt for the Betjeman Arms upstairs, which is apparently rather good.”

Gallipoli Cafe & Bistro, Angel & Islington (Restaurant)
“Decor/place was nice but bad service. Went there for valentines set menu and had to ask for the menu, drinks and bill. The food was fairly good except for the dessert, respberry creme burlee. It did not look like creme burlee or did it tsste like creme burlee. The waiter didnt even recognise it of the menu. The waiter then also avoided our table becuase she was to imbarrassed to collect the dessert, which was pretty much untouched. To top it off, we had paid a deposit for the table being valentines day and they had lost the deposit. Took 30mins to find out it had gone to one of the other Gallipoli's restaurants. Wont be going back...”

The Gun, Canary Wharf (Bar / Restaurant)
“We had been to The Gun several times before and found it very good, but our last and final visit to the pub was February 13th 2010. The food was average, the portions derisory and the bill extortionate. The service was okay but not deserving of the 13% service charge added to an already outrageously high bill. The Gun has lost it I'm afraid - it's what happens when you put profit before people and try to pretend to be a Michellin star restaurant with Michellin star prices, but come nowhere close to that standard.”

“I was extreamly disappointed about Thai Square the Strand. To be honest me and my partner loved thai food so we can always tell when something is wrong.I went there on the 14 feb 10. My partner took me out for out for valentine meal, he even propose to me in there, was very unhappy about the following complaint 1. After drinking half a glass of pinapple juice, i notice hair in the juice... 2. They served us with a dirty spoon. Spoon has been used by someone and has not been washed properly. 3. Toilet was very tinny and a size 20 person will definatly not fit in there. Not very impress at all. So i will not recommend this to any body.”

“We had a great night out here last Friday. This place is absolutely gorgeous inside. They have huge chandeliers hanging in the main bar, and the whole place feels special. The best thing is that the drinks are reasonably priced compared to similar high end clubs, and me and my friends didn’t want to leave at closing time. There’s a great atmosphere to be found here.”

“As a long term local of the goose I whole heartedly disagree with this review! 1- the goose has never been doctored the decaying walls are all au natural! 2- I think miracles come out of the tiny kitchen! 3- We quite like the goose being Camdens hidden jem so go back to your shabby east end pub and keep your opinions to yourself!”

The Archduke, Waterloo (Bar / Restaurant)
“6 of us went for a meal on Saturday night to The Archduke and it was the worst meal I've ever had. 2 of the 6 starters came 15minutes after the first four had come out. The roast chicken, fries and house salad was appalling... there were a total of 4 spinach leaves as the 'salad', the chicken was raw and had blood in the middle. The quality of the rest of the food was disgusting, just cheap crappy rubbish that was priced at £13-£18 was a big rip-off. Then it took them 30minutes to bring the bill. There's a million nicer places round the Southbank so just don't waste your money or time and have a nice meal somewhere else.”

“I really enjoyed myself at this place. the cocktails were divine and although pretty cosy, it was buzzing. as a single girl, you'll really enjoy the feel with lots of young professionals around. the decor is nothing exceptional, even though they were obviously trying to be creative. the service was good too. and id go back.”

The Driver, Kings Cross (Bar / Restaurant / Club)
“I went to the driver for a large function. each floor has it's own kind of vibe, but is pretty basic nevertheless. cocktails were a total rip off of 9pounds each time. a highlight though was the rooftop - a bonus for summer time. absolutely gorgeous. I was unable to get a cocktail till i went to the top floor (not the rooftop) and even then it was expensive and they didnt have all the ingredients. it's pretty average all up.”

Kink, Angel & Islington (Bar / Club)
“So it finally closed. I for one am not shocked. Why did it close, because of the white trash/ghetto/chav culture taking over our country. This part of Islington has far too many of the above mentioned types. Last thing you want when you go on a night out is to be faced with these scummy people. Some even try to come in for a drink even though all they really want is a WKD and cheap cider If this bar was in the nice part of islington it would still be around. Just look at Holloway Rd's high street. All decent shops are closed as the chavs and co dont understand nice.”

The Draft House Northcote, Clapham (Bar / Restaurant)
“You'd think the main reason to come here would be the impressive range of worldly beers but no, it's the food. Or both. Me and another beer-loving mate of mine thought we'd check it out for the ales and we weren't disappointed in that (the third pints are perfect for doing 'tasters') but we were amazed at the high standard of the food more than anything. Evidence of this was the amount of young ladies there who were drinking wine. Obviously they weren't there for the beer, so it must've been the food. Definitely worth the walk up Northcote Road. A true gem of a place that Clapham Junction was crying out.”
