The Pepper Tree 19 Clapham Common South Side, Clapham Common, London, SW4 7AB (Map)

The pepper tree is a great place to have an easy, reasonably cheap dinner. the food is really good quality and the service is good. Don't go here if u want romance or special times. It is communal seating... More Atmosphere: Value: Quality:

“Popped in for a bite of lunch with Hubby, we enjoyed the London Pride/rose and the ploughman's lunch which was superb and great value for money all served with a smile. Excellent atmosphere. As they say, use it or lose it, if you don't wan't another p*xy gastro pub, frequent the few goods ones that are left. A*******”

“Hi guys, been to this place which gets horrible reviews all over the web! Well, the atmosphere is great, as you're supposed to take off the shoes in the downstairs room (photo), and the seating is really nice and comfy, great. Now, the food: We ordered octopus as a starter amongst other things, and that was super-awesome. What they brought us was baby octopus from head to toe, with eyes and all. You just chuck them in and chew those raw little creatures hehe ;) - fresh? Yeah, that tasted fresh. We had fried crabs which looked good too, the aubergines which this place is known for were delicious, and my slow cooked pork was ok. Very fatty, and not entirely hot. Taking freshness and originality into account, I would rate this place a 2.7 out of 5. You CAN get better stuff in London for less money, I believe.”

“We just stayed in this hotel for six days. We ate breakfast here all six days and dinner twice. All I can say is "phenomenal"!! There were three of us staying at The Arch London so we managed to rotate through every menu offering. There was nothing I did not like. Excellent vibe, contemporary decor, organized friendly staff. I highly recommend the restaurant for any meal or just cocktails!”

“What an amazing place to stumble across within a very "chain-heavy" environment. Excellent service, great food and an owner who not only cares, but serves personally during most shifts. A must for fresh, honest food at ridiculously fair prices. You will not be dissapointed.”

The Lodge Tavern, Ealing (Bar / Restaurant)
“Love this place, it always has a really homely and warm atmosphere no matter what time of the day or night. They hold the best parties and have really friendly staff, I recently went for dinner and enjoyed a steak with chips and salad plus a glass of wine all for a tenner! bargain, it was yummy..this is a deal on wednesdays I believe. The Lodge Tavern is one of the only places in Ealing to get a great cocktail, good service and staff who go out of their way to provide an enjoyable night for you. They charge on the door after 9pm but with the wicked DJs and late closing its expected. The decor is pretty cool with a gramophone light, deer head and crystal chandeliers..the booth seats create cosy pockets for you to gather in with you friends, It is usually pretty busy at weekends so I would recommend booking. Defo worth a visit!”

“This place is nice enough without being amazing - as the review says, fairly bog-standard. The restaurant is really near the London Eye, which is why we went there”

“My partner and I went for a meal here this evening. Staff were pleasant and the ambience was also very nice. Ordered a range of cold and hod starters as well as some souvlaki. We waited 45 minutes for the cold starters and a further 15 minutes for the hot starters. The hot prawn starter was very cold and was sent back. As was the fried squid. The Souvlaki was warn enough but by this time we were very disappointed, not to mention hungry. Service was poor and all we were told was that the kitchen was slow today! How long does it take to lace some humous on a plate and warm up some flat bread? Very disappointing and not somewhere we'll be eating again. There are many other better served restaurants to visit!”

“I called in advance to book a table for 14 people at a quiet time (5.45pm-7pm). I was told this was ok. The evening started off on a sour note, as the managers approached us and started to severly tell me off for asking if I could pay for the drinks seperately. From that moment on, even though they were apparently 'very busy upstairs' the managers hovered around our table, making us feel extremely unwanted and uncomfortable. The food was amazing though, and the waiters were fine, it was just the fowl attitude of the managers that means I will NEVER be setting foot in that place again. They even tried to charge me service charge after treating us so badly! They said 'you have to pay it in a place like this, this isn't Nandos' - I wish I HAD gone to Nandos after all! In the end the manager called me 'offensive' for refusing to pay the service charge, a charge which would only go into her pocket and not that of the lovely waiters. So if you want to go for a pre-theatre dinner I don't suggest this one! Try queuing at Prezzo or something...”

“I came here for a sunday lunch. The food was average; between myself and a friend we ordered a burger and the sunday roast. The roast potatoes were badly cooked (mushy, and not very crispy), the same went for the chips i had - not crispy or well cooked enough. I didnt appreciate being treated so abrasively by the staff, and it wasnt even that busy, just steady.”
