Le Gothique Royal Victoria Patriotic Building, John archer Way, Wandsworth Common, London, SW18 3SX (Map)
It can be quite overpriced, and the quality of food isn't great. It's a bit like a lottery, sometimes you get lucky with the food but most of the time you don’t. I wouldn't recommend eating here though,... More

The Camel & Artichoke, Waterloo (Bar)
“Lovely place and it is so rare these days to find a bar where the staff go out of their way to be polite, friendly and willing to engage is conversation.
Only spent the weekend in London but I found myself in the place twice, just due to the pleasant staff and atmosphere and reasonably priced beer (for the centre of London)
Next time I'm in the area, will definately be going back.”

China Boulevard on the River, Wandsworth (Restaurant)
“I went to this restaurant the other day as recommend by a friend.
The seating for dinner are upstairs rather , so not good for elderly pensioners. But the staff were very friendly and smiley. Atmosphere was fine, nice view of the Thames with most jazz music.
The food were absolutely amazing. For starters we had the dim sum platter and Hot and sour soup. Main course we had Pan Fried Dover Sole with Ginger,Garlic and Soy Sauce. My friend had Crispy Shredded Beef with Singapore Noodles. They were all very tasty and the best Chinese Food I've tried so far in UK!
Definitely worth recommending.”

Boqueria, Brixton (Restaurant)
“A superb restaurant for a spot of tapas in south London. All the dishes use Spanish ingredients (hence the price) so the taste is authentic. The variety is outstanding too. Not like your normal Spanish tapas joint. Sticks to the basics.”

Sunset Strip, Soho (Bar / Club)
“A great club to spend some time, or all night. a £15 entrance fee with pub prices at the bar and yes the girls will ask for a dance (they need to make money) but are never pushy. Found it to be friendly, relaxed and the all the girls I met were happy to sit and chat over a drink. Doesn't try to rip you off and is just a great place to spend some time with friendly and very attractive ladies.”

Imbibe, Borough & Southwark (Bar)
“We had our wedding reception at Imbibe earlier this month and highly recommend this as a venue for any party.
Firstly the barbecue was first rate with all the guests commenting how they loved the food we also had canapés of mini fish and chips and mini burgers etc. for the evening which we also first class.
The staff were all friendly and very helpful at all times and the barbecue/Bar was always fully staffed no one was waiting for too long.
The venue its self looks great and especially in the photos with some great shots of the shard and the garden !
We also had a casino at the far end of the bar which was a great success and the bar accommodated with no hassle.
This is a well-placed venue 5 minute walk from Southwark station and well situated for guests staying anywhere in central London and 9 pound in a cab to kings cross,
Big thank you to all the Team you done a great job in making our wedding day very special indeed !!”

Blue Lagoon, West End (Restaurant)
“Awful place. I wouldn’t normally complain (life’s far too short) but this was so bad all round that I feel I have to. I went for lunch/early dinner with my parents before a show for their 45th wedding anniversary. Food was bearable, although portions pretty small. Service was absolutely dire. We ordered three starters - only two arrived. Chased the third and it finally arrived with the main meal. We ordered two curries and only received one tiny bowl of rice. Then they completely overcharged us - we ordered from 'special offer' set menus but when the bill arrived they had only charged two at that price and the third at the separate dish prices. They also charged us for deserts as apparently we had chosen the wrong puddings that weren’t included in the set price menu (menu simply stated 'plus desert' and as we were given a desert menu we just chose something, we were not told we could only have specific ones on there). I won't even get started on the gratuity that they put on the bill irrespective (Obviously they wouldn't get tips otherwise!)
I gave up arguing about the bill after about 20 minutes as suddenly no one could speak English when I queried the bill and the staff started getting quite nasty. Plus we only had a short bit of time before the theatre, and my parents were getting quite upset and I didn’t want to ruin their anniversary.
Trust me, there are so many restaurants to choose from in this area, please please please pick another!”

The Brunswick House Cafe, Vauxhall & Oval (Bar / Restaurant)
“If there is a more unique, unusual and relaxing place in London to have coffee or a bite to eat then please let me know. This is a brilliant cafe/bar opposite Vauxhall station and near the Thames Path. The decor is truly out of this world. And you can buy it all!! Great soothing tunes too. Nice coffee. Friendly staff.”

The Cuban, City of London (Bar / Restaurant)
“I found the Cuban Bar on the Gourmet Society Card website and booked a table for my friends birthday. I specifically mentioned I had the card over the telephone at the time of booking but once I arrived and was seated they told me the management wouldn't accept the card. I did not stay to find out whether the food was nice or not but after reading other reviews I'm glad I didn't!”

The Old Frizzle, Wimbledon (Bar / Restaurant)
“SUCH a welcome addition to Wimbledon. Had a great evening at The Old Frizzle last week. The staff were so friendly and welcoming and the food was out of this world...so much better than the standard pub food I was expecting. I like that the pub is split into 2 sections, the back being sport and entertainment and the front dining. I'll be back for their Thursday live blues band nights and definitely for another meal or few!”

The Clapham North, Clapham (Bar)
“A fantastic night out at the Clapham North. Went out for 'a few' after work drinks with some friends and ended up staying the whole night. We all had the burgers off the menu which were, quite frankly, amazing! There was a fantastic vibe in there as everyone was celebrating the start of the weekend. A real mixed crowd of people, the Clapham North seems to welcome everyone; the sports fans, the couples, the singles, the foodies! After quite a few drinks and our delicious burgers we stayed all night where there was an awesome DJ.
Will DEFINITELY be back soon”

El Camion & The Pink Chihuahua, Soho (Bar / Restaurant)
“The upstairs restaurant is quick and cosy and serves a variety of the same thing over and over. Whatever you order, it'll come loaded with guacamole, beans, cheese, lettuce etc etc. It's decent, but not in the same league as Wahaca. The decor is cool though and the staff are lively. The real reason to come here is the hidden downstairs bar, the Pink Chihuahua. What a find! Open late, so all the bar workers in Soho come here. Massive array of cocktails and tequilas and some nice refreshing beers to boot. The tunes are awesome too. Will interest all the boys and girls who like boys (bit of sausage fest) but the atmosphere is really friendly.”

Cubana, Waterloo (Bar / Restaurant)
“Terrible bar. A fiver to get in and then once inside, realise it's practically a sauna. So so hot. The weird layout is probably the only thing it has going for it. The music is naff chart stuff with the odd 'latin' sounding tune thrown in to keep it on theme. Nice girls though.”
