The Montpelier 43 Choumert Road, London, SE15 4AR (Map)

A good range of beers (local too), nice big tables, a trendy suburban crowd, decent pub grub in an area that is lacking in options, plus, they have a back room where they show films every week. Well cool! More Atmosphere: Value: Quality:

“Proud Cabaret is the real deal. Cabaret, Comedy, Burlesque. Can it be costly? Sure, but you're paying for the entertainment, and it's a great place to go with a crowd. I don't live in London anymore, but whenever I visit, I drop by.”

“This is my new favourite bar in London. Amazing set up with a makeshift bar, DJ, modern artwork basic kitchen, local beers, delicious cocktails, and easily one of the best views you'll ever get in London. Take a warm coat though, as it does get chilly. These photos don't do it justice really.”

“I love any place that makes me feel like Alice falling down the rabbit hole and Sketch's Parlour room is THE place that makes that fantasy of mine a reality. Not only was the Louis XV furniture and quirky pattisserie perfect for an after work session in Wonderland, but the service was ace - no queen would dare chop off any heads as they'd have no reason to! I recommend the gin cocktails and any of the dessert tarts.”

Bunch of Grapes, London Bridge & Bermondsey (Bar)
“Probably the only defining feature of this pub is the slightly unusual beer garden out the bar. It's less of a beer garden and more of a beer hole. Two levels, no greenery, but still quite cosy, in a 'hide out where nobody can see you' kind of way.”

“We have been going to the Drift Bar since it opened end of July. The first few times were fantastic but they really need to sort themselves out if they want to keep loyal customers. Service is OTT on arrival then non existant, food has come out cold, or little of it and sometimes our bookings that have been confirmed are not in their systems. This is not a good contiuation from them and some of their staff have serious attitude problems. Please sort this out otherwise the bar will drift away to the catergory of a no go there bar / restaurant. they really need to look after their regulars and treat them with a little VIP!”

“Beautifully elegant restaurant, stylish library-like front bar, secret little roof terrace, a verdant alfresco beer garden, an upstairs bar for events, and a secret karaoke room with its own 'booze' summoning button. Really, what else would anyone need?! Oh, a MASSIVE wine list, friendly service, and some fantastic mains and desserts, of course. It has it all.”

Aurora, Soho (Restaurant)
“I went there today (a rainy Tuesday)for lunch. It was the perfect escape from the wet and windy weather. The crimson walls manage to make the place look cosy and chic at the same time, and the brown paper tablecloths were a quirky touch which I appreciated. I had the pasta of the day which was DELICIOUS, while my dinner date had the squid, which she finsihed up with satisfaction. Even though the view outside was quite garrish (Lily Allen's Lucy in Disguise shop has opened directly opposite) it didn't take anything away from the pleasant experience of great food, and excellent service.”

“Unhappy to discover one particular barman was overcharging me for drinks by 10% and putting the extra in the tip box. I tip well in the USA because service is generally friendly and attentive. Not so here. Perhaps I was wrong but he was charging me £4.50 for a pint of Kronenbourg. Not the first time this has happened to me in Comptons. Good bar but like many place in the UK then the staff really do need some customer service training and learn to drop the attitude.”

“Quick, chirpy service; creative warehouse-style decor; great variety on the menu; trendy Shoreditch crowd; manageable prices; wine by the mini carafe; close to Shoreditch High Street tube station; and it's got a club downstairs. And they open quite late on a Sunday, which is great if you're on a first date looking for somewhere to nosh/drink.”

Excellent environment to enjoy along with friends. Come out and you are in the Piccadilly rush again if u like. Trimming is perfect, you need not wait till 11 PM as like with other such places. Quebec, Marylebone (Bar)
“My wife and I visited after a mornings shopping, the pub and atmosphere was smashing, the sandwiches from the carvery were delicious. The staff were a little distant bordering on unfriendly but served us quickly. during the three drinks and a meal we both had the need to visit the loo. My wife had no complaints but I was almost sick when I visited the men's toilets the stench was over powering and extremely unpleasant. I have run pubs for 30 years and I know that there are inexpensive odour killers. This stink was totally avoidable and due to bad hygiene practices. a lovely visit ruined by putrid toilets.”

“I've had two excellent meals there now, and enjoyed them hugely. Breakfast this morning couldn't be criticised- tasty bacon and egg, with tomatoes seasoned with mixed herbs (do try them, you'll be delighted). Good fresh bread and well flavoured coffee- staff were refreshingly bright and eager to please- price was reasonable and the place is very comfortable and easy to relax in- tables and chairs outside when the weather is good. If it's lunchtime, treat yourself to the ribeye steak- mine was first class!”

“Very nice new restaurant and bar in St. James's Park area. Style is new and fresh. Bar is very comfortable with fireplaces and cozy feel. Restaurant has beautiful design with plenty of windows (unusual in London). Restaurant is serving really nice food; not too complicated and not too simple. I had a great soup and then lamb. Nice focus on farm to table. Service is very good.”
