Fantozzi 102 Chase Side, Southgate, London, N14 5PH (Map)

We went to Fantozzi and one of the items ordered was a vegetarian dish. However to our shock they brought out a non-veg meal. We asked for the correct dish - which obviously took more time to come. ... More Atmosphere: Value: Quality:

“Back to Janet's Bar yet again. This is the funkiest and fun bar in London and I am always happy to bring a group of friends here. The prices are typical South Kensington but the atmosphere, drinks and music are worth it! You will look very cool to suggest this bar to your friends.”

“It was a nightmare!! There was a misunderstanding regarding my receipt - which i paid £15 for and thrown away by mistake - and they treated me very badly not even willing to listen to me and checking that i actually paid. They threw me out like a piece of rubbish. I was really outraged and disgusted with the way they were treating me.”

“The calamari was way too greasy for my liking. The atmosphere was gloomy and the service was slow and unprofessional. The chefs don't even wear hair garments while the cook. Also, the wine was disgusting.”

“Absolutely loved eating here. Wonderful atmosphere, great food and amazing cocktails. The pre-theatre menu is excellent with a surprisingly low price tag (about £15 per person) and it was nice not to have to pay extra for a steak. Service was good; unfortunately didn't get to sample the champagne bar but it looked very exciting. Will definitely eat there again.”

“Good to see this little Italian restaurant on Hammersmith Road still going and weathering the storms of fashionability - after all these days it's all Thai and Vietnamese restaurants, or was that last year? The Avellino still provides a warm welcome and pleasant food and drink. I went to Avelino on my 21st and that was a few years ago now!”

Latymers Thai cafe, Hammersmith (Bar)
“When I lived nearby this was my local. The Thai food in the back is excellent and the Fullers beer range is good in the pub in front. It is not the most 'pubby' pub but there is a good vibe at weekends and on Friday nights, mainly due to the previous landlord who turned it from a purely-corporate bar that closed on Sundays to more of a 'local' where you could have Sunday lunch. The only possible drawback of Latymers - especially now there is no smoking in pubs - is that there is limited outside space apart from some tables on the street corner.”

San Miguels on the River, Battersea (Restaurant)
“I have been eating at San Miguel's now for over 10 years. I can honestly say it is one of the finest restaurants I have ever been to. If you like tapas, this is the place for you. Situated on a business estate next to the river in Battersea, it is not the kind of place you would necessarily stumble across in passing, but it it well worth the visit. The staff are very welcoming and there is nothing on the menu I would not recommend. Good place for a casual business lunch too. Free wireless broadband available to customers.”

The Crown and Cushion, Waterloo (Bar)
“We just had to write about our visit to the Crown & Cushion, three days ago. It's been about five weeks since our last visit, as soon as we walked in we saw new menu's on the tables. They are now serving authentic Thai food, and it is really good. The Thai chef and table staff are really polite, this makes a great change from the usual pub food you get. We ordered the mixed starter for two, and two Thai Green prawn curries, the food was served quickly and it was very well presented, just like a restaurant. As I said before the meal was delicious, we shall definitely be going back soon.”

“I recently visited Cape with a group of friends to celebrate my birthday. We ordered a selection of tapas that was really enjoyable and great for a group to share. We found the staff to be kind and helpful. We will be going back for any future celebrations or just for a drink after work. ”

Gazette Brasserie, Battersea (Bar / Restaurant)
“Yes, it's a brasserie in a fairly new-build residential block East of Wandsworth bridge, but this is an astonishingly good place to spend an evening eating and drinking extremely well. High quality, skilled cooking of good ingredients and a great atmosphere. Always several specials on as well as the core menu. OK value for what it delivers. Charming service. Very, very French. Really very good wine list full of interesting bottles. Glassware is better than you'd expect. Decent availability of a selection of wines by the glass and half bottle. Kids' food too. All in all, I had a superb evening because this place gets it all consistently right and there's a sense of hospitality and fun on top of the professionalism.”

Bluebird, Chelsea (Bar / Restaurant / Club)
“Very disappointing. Oily veg and potatoes. Very tough steak and lamb even the medium rare was tough. I couldn't cut it with a steak knife (which I had to ask for). Shockingly limp celery and brown apple on the cheese board. Can't believe any decent chef would let a dish leave his kitchen with brown apple slices. Slow and aloof service. Took 20 minutes to get a drink and it only arrived after we'd asked for it again. My friend was also dismissed for asking where the toilets were, which were not up to the standard of the main restaurant by the way. Questionable presentation on the chocolate dessert, I won't go into what it looked like but you can get the idea! The best part was the truffles that were supposed to come with the coffee but they were served after we'd finished our drinks and only because we asked where they were. Will definitely not be returning and would not recommend this to anyone.”

The Famous Three Kings, Kensington (Bar)
“Nice enough place on the inside and so easy to get to be right next door to the tube station - more of a Bar then a pub. However be very careful about ordering a soft drink there - they totally fill up the entire glass to the very top with ice first and then pour in the soft drink - by far the most watery cola I've had in London in years and quite expensive. So using the words "No Ice" before every order is very important here. Also their overhead signs says there are two for one deals available everyday and when we went there at 6pm on a Saturday - there was a single sheet of A4 paper just printed off with a very short list of food available saying sports day menu. The pub is known for showing sports all day, everyday so this could be a permanent menu for all we know. The burger and chips tasted good and was served in quite a nice space saving plate. However the quickly done up menu didn't explain it contains bacon, etc in it either which Jewish or Muslim customers especially might appreciate to know in advance before placing their orders.. Also the wait to be served is very long. When we went there it wasn't all that busy - just 6pm on a Saturday with no major games happening but the staff that were there took forever to serve you and when they did you had to repeat your order several times as they were not native speakers of English, so you struggled a bit to get your order in.”

“This place is alright but the waiting staff are HORRIBLE and discriminating! We did not even get to eat here as they were doing everything possible not to serve us. Don't go here, go to the Old ship or somewhere else a lot nicer along the river. Would be a nice pub if they didn't employ such horrible sarcastic people.”
