“While the food was good the service was appalling and I will be advising all of my friends not to go. Dispite booking a table we were not seated until 30 mins or so later our drinks (which we told to get from the bar while waitin for our pre arranged table to be set took 40 mins to arrive I was not at all happy considering 2 of those drink we're just glasses of prosecco with a strawberry on the rim. When they were brought at one was dropped and smashed into my friends bag it then took another 10 mins to get the drink re poured. I then had to asked for a waitress to take our order as we had been continuously ignored. While the food was good the service ruined the evening and quite frankly has ensured I will never return! I hope people know that they could go elsewhere for a good steak and for much less money and hassle. If the complaints system is anything like the service I'll expect a reply in 4-6 months.”

“Love this bar! We head over there on a Friday night We get there early around 7:30/8 to grab a seat at the back of the bar. By 9 the place is packed. Get a group of you all together and order different cocktails. That way you get to sample a fair few (depending how many of you there are and how many rounds you do!)”

“The b@1 bar in Clapham is a pretty cool place to head with your friends after work, especially during happy hour! It's quite small inside but very trendy and all the bar staff are really friendly. The cocktails are tasty and there are loads to choose from, prices are average but visiting in happy hour is an excellent way to get your evening started!”

“We visited this bar for a colleague's birthday drinks, and the friday night atmosphere was great - perfect to kick-start a party! With a mixed bag of people, this branch of B@1 managed to keep everyone happy, especially with such a huge choice of drinks available. It is, however, far too easy to rack up a large bill at the bar - especially once happy hour's over.”

“We eat around London a lot and look for places tucked away that can exceed our expectations. Reading many reviews on this place made us want to try it as it's local. I'm afraid to write that our meal there was certainly not the best. Warmed food, clumsy waiters and cramped conditions. Seriously overpriced and nothing special. I feel from reading the reviews out there that it has fallen victim to the tourist trap club. There's better out there. Yes its friendly, but I've been to places half the price with the same quality food. We were never asked for dessert, we were rushed through despite half the place being empty, wobbly tables, the bottled water is £3.50 and pizza express is on par. Average and expensive.”

“Quick service, great central location, vibrant atmosphere produced by families off to see a show and girls out shopping, large portions of pasta and pizza (recommend the linguine gamberoni), wine by the glass bottle or carafe (which is ideal for the West End), and excellent value for money. I'm very impressed.”

“Excellent meaty burger, nice little sun trap for alfresco dining and drinking late in the spring/summer afternoon, board games and cosy seating inside, fairly decent pub grub. Much quieter than the other pubs in the area.”

“Believe the hype about the beef wellington. It is fantastic (even if it quite costly). Semi-stately decor, sexy Shoreditch/Dalston crowd, a couple of nice beers on tap, and the most pornographic toilets anywhere in London (excellent!). If you live in North London, well worth a visit.”

“Everyone who works at this Kensington Italian restaurant is so friendly, chirpy and works tirelessly to make sure everyone has a good time. Hats off to the staff. The food was very good too. I had the veal with sauteed potatoes and was very happy indeed. A top restaurant if you're looking for value-for-money whilst out shopping or going to the Royal Albert Hall for a concert. Or, indeed, if you're out for a stroll in Hyde Park.”

“The food was excellent, felt very welcome. I don't know what k.d and Joanna are talking about!! It was 2 years ago, mind... Our food came quickly as did our drinks. I felt the staff were very well trained and we were shown to our seats and the manager was at our beck and call.”

“With the clock ticking down to married life, the boys "dragged" me along during my stag do last weekend. Before walking through the door, I was sceptical to say the least, but full credit to the ladies for making me feel welcome. A great time was had by all (I like to think the ladies enjoyed our company too - in fact, I know they did), and we shall be returning soon without a doubt. I hope to be able to emulate Guy from Leicester and make the trip a regular one...Guy, I hope to cross swords one day soon sir, but be aware my friend, my sword is long, blunt and has very little point to it, but in the right hands, DEADLY!!! Yours in titties, Matt Queralt”

“Really enjoyed the food (a lovely cheese burger) although I did feel like a bit of a fraud in the somewhat opulent (and obviously arabic themed) surrounds of the restaurant! The restaurant is pretty big but tables are nicely spaced out and despite being near to a couple of groups of friends it wasn't too noisy. Fully agree with the reviewer on the puddings - they were huge and really good!”

Rotunda, Kings Cross (Bar / Restaurant)
“I went to The Guardian Open Weekend event last Saturday. One of the venues was where The Rotunda is so my two friends and I decided to go for the beer & burger for £10 offer. Service was bad. I'm not sure if the staff were badly treated volunteers because a) they appeared to have no clue on how to work in a restaurant, b) they didn't seem to care. I felt on several occasions I could read some of the waiters minds and they were thinking 'I'm not being paid enough or at all to do this.' In my experience volunteers always do a job to the best of their abilities because they’re supper keen to make a good impression. It’s only when you’re treated badly that one starts to behave in a bad manner. And so I question the management of this venue. Being seated took forever. Ordering took forever. Being served took FOREVER. While two of us got served after an age and a day my other friend (the hungriest one of all) had to wait a further ten minutes despite me seeing the dish already prepared and waiting under the hot light to be delivered to his hungry jaws. The bar looked atrocious with all the empty glasses piled up on the counter. A diner sitting on the table next to us tutted – she’s a waitress and was appalled that the empties were left in full view – “all empties should immediately be put in the dishwasher or if there’s no room under the counter out of sight!” I agreed completely. She also had to wait for longer than necessary for her order. To be fair the burger was incredible. The beef was cooked to perfection and the bun struggled to contain the numerous layers of cheese, gherkins, and relish. There was a generous portion of chips too. When we’d finished we kept on getting the Evil Eye from the staff as if we had to push off as soon as our plates were scraped and licked clean and the contents of the beer bottle glugged down. But we had no intentions of leaving so soon after eating a mammoth meal. Besides, our next booked event wasn’t on until 5:30. We would have ordered more drinks but we didn’t want to add to the ever growing mountain of empty glasses and bottles on the bar.”

“Disappointing. Service terrible and the poor kids they leave in charge don't even have the power to refund you a quid if the quiz machine breaks down, let alone a serious problem! Steer clear, there is a fabulous pub 5 minutes walk away called the Cumberland arms on north end road, a firm favourite with the Locals and for good reason!”
