Sekara, Victoria (Restaurant)
“Sekara is a superb place to go for authentic Sri Lankan cuisine. Having lived in Sri Lanka for a while, I was beyond delighted to find somewhere in london that recreated their amazing flavours. Eat mountains of String Hoppers with Dahl, Chicken Curry, Potato Curry, Pol Sambol & Kiri Hodi. You will be blown away. The coconut milk used in the cooking makes it a million times smoother and more delicious than Indian! I have taken heaps of friends & colleagues there and everyone has loved it. I cannot recommend Sekara highly enough.”

The Triangle Bar & Restaurant, Finsbury Park (Bar / Restaurant)
“It pays to talk to your neighbours. I recently found myself locked out and had no choice but to go to the pub. I got talking to a couple of regulars, who informed me of an excellent Moroccan restaurant right on our doorstep. I made the trip to The Triangle’s unlikely location: fresh out of Fez on a quiet street corner in Haringey. Inside are more surprises than you’d get in a carpet shop posing as a great view of the city: a mud-hut terrace bar; a mirror-walled open fire; exquisite dishes including a Thai green curry served with lime and a slice of grilled halloumi (not very Marrakesh but it went down a dream) and a whole room hanging upside down from the ceiling. Yes, a room hanging upside down from the ceiling. Good things can happen when you get locked out.”

“What a fantastic place for karaoke, whether on a Sunday or Thursday the place is rammed. Kevin Walsh the dj makes a great host and everyone there is outgoing and friendly. A lot of guys may say that karaoke is crap, but there are some rally good singers that go there. So if your bored in the week get yourself down there and meet some new people..... and who knows you may enjoy yourself.”

“A quality, proper local pub. Jolly staff, cracking nosh and well kept beer. If you're lucky enough to be in there when they've got 'duck scratchings', then snap 'em up before some other bugger does!”

Mesopotamia, Wembley (Restaurant)
“At long, long last a decent restaurant in Wembley. If Mesopotamia was in the West End it would be packed to the brim. We came along to a concert and were really blown away by the frontage and decoration. There has been a lot of thought into this place, and that applies to the food as well. It has been along time since we tasted food so fresh, and flavoured so perfectly. The hardest thing we had to do all evening was to decide what to eat! We had the Gus (beautiful lean cuts of beef that melted in your mouth on a bed of salad) and the fish (baked with tomato, onion and parsley). The starters were equally impressive and so refreshing. Service was spot on, spotless toilets with wonderful mosaic tiling even on the ceilings (!!!), the ambience was just SO perfect, we left feeling comfortably full, relaxed and happy. If you do not like the food here, then there must be something wrong with you.”

“I enjoyed it! I was there a couple of years ago on a school trip to London and I had a great time... what I remember anyway. The food was delicious, I got plenty to keep me from slipping into alcohol poisoning from the delicious beers and vodka's, and the staff was kind enough to let me keep a menu for a souvenir! So the decor is a little cold, I didn't mind... the food was awesome!”

“There is no garden at all. Just some tables on pavement with a road between them and the river. Total mis-description. I'm sure it would all be fine if it didn't say that it had a garden going down to the river.”
