The Old Bull & Bush

The Gatehouse, Crouch End (Bar)
“granted the gatehouse is a wetherspoons pub, but its perfect for a few cheap beers before or after a play upstairs - especially if the play wasn''t that great. sadly there was no sign of the ghost, could have llivened up the play a bit....”

The Rocket, Acton (Bar / Restaurant)
“I like this place. It has a great atmosphere any day of the week, the music is always brill, and the staff are NOT arrogant. May not be ideal for a fulfilling meal, but is perfect for a few drinks. It''s different, and as before is the best place Acton has to offer. Highly recomended for something different!”

SW9 Bar Cafe, Brixton (Bar)
“Had 2 course meal there last night and was disgusted by the service. We ordered mussels for starter which came out barely cooked. The shells were still closed! The staff were so rude making out that we could still eat them - like how?! So they take them back and (microwaved??) cooked them for so long they come out stringy with no flesh. Disgusting. The other table had the same experience and when I asked for our money back for the starter they made out that no one had complained about them all night. So after I pointed out that the other table did they unwillingly gave us some money back. But this was serious effort and they were really rude. I would never go back there unfortunately.”

Wenlock Arms, Shoreditch (Bar)
“This without a doubt is a little gem. Talk about living in another World. Tucked away on a small industrial estate just off City Road, you will struggle to find a more friendly pub anywhere. Not only is it the cheapest around but it serves an ever changing range of 6 real ales, a mild and real cider you know the sort two pints and your crawling on your hands and knees. Doorstep sandwiches to die for The Saltbeef is a speciality and only £3 to boot. Quiz night is thursday at 9pm Jazz Blues or Rock ''n'' roll at the weekends. They even have a real fire A Cricket Team of sorts Darts If you''ve never been to a true English back street local and would like to know what one is, seek this one out. Guaranteed not to disappoint. ”

The Duke of Cambridge, Angel & Islington (Bar / Restaurant)
“Most people are right should be a great place but is sadly lacking. They don''t brew their own beer either as some people think, this is done by The Great PITFIELD Brewery which is not a million miles away. Why do the staff NOT smile. Maybe they pay to work there just for the experience. If this is how the other half live I''ll give it a miss and stay round the corner at The Wenlock.”

The Slug & Lettuce, Angel & Islington (Bar)
“Not a big fan of S ''n'' L anyway, but this is the worst I''ve been to. The bars too tight, the staff are extremely anal and the clientelle stuck''s not even that nice a decor, but hey, all the trendies like it so it must be good! Oh dear, they can keep it as far as I''m concerned.”

The Alma, Stoke Newington (Bar / Restaurant)
“This place is an enigma. The food is a hit and miss affair; I have eaten here on and off for the last year and find some nights its great and other nights (usually busy ones) the portions small and the flavours lacking. What lets the place down most is the staff. They are rude and quite often there is simply not enough of them. The Manager today just said to me "Im going to have to move you". Hello? Where is the sorry, could I find you somewhere else to sit?" And this was at 6 in the evening, when they wanted to reserve the table for 7.30. Surely, they could have just said, we need to prepare this table, could we ask you to move for 5 minutes? Courtesy costs nothing! In addition to this, they have a truly awful selection of draught beer (Guinness excepted). The place could be great, but only with a serious shift in staff attitude and consistency in the food, but as it is, if you are looking for”

South London Pacific (Tiki Cocktail Bar & Club), Vauxhall & Oval (Bar / Club)
“It really is an exceptional venue, fruity, funky and fun with sophisticated cocktails to match. A cacophony of wild Hawaiian decor, a tonic and escape, especially as London turns grey and miserable with winter looming.”

The Knights Templar, City of London (Bar)
“Typical Wetherspoons - cavernous and devoid of a real pub atmosphere. I can only recommend it if you are dirt poor or there are more than 10 of you eating (it''s the only pub around this area able to cope with 12 diners).”

Seven Stars, City of London (Bar)
“Seven Stars is round the corner from my office - great little pub. Food is good, but a little expensive and atmosphere is ideal for lunchtime meetings. Too small for anything else, unless it''s summer, when people are not only across the street, they''re all over it!”

The Duke of Cambridge, Angel & Islington (Bar / Restaurant)
“I live right around the corner from the Duke of Cambridge and haved dined their quite alot. The food is always excellent with new and different things showing up on the blackboard/menu and it has a great casual atomosphere. The only knocks that I have on it are that the organic beer is just mediocre - but still very drinkable and that a few of the bartenders dont know about service with a smile. Those minor points aside, it is a great place to meet up with friends for great food in a relaxed atomosphere.”

“you know when you''re just looking for a regular bar where you can have a good catch up with friends and you want somewhere that isn''t too noisy and you can get a seat? Well that''s the Coal Hole. No bells or whistles, just a good pub. Apparently does an excellent pint of Guiness...”

“HEY GUYS, I used to work in The Village 2 years ago! That was the time were Village was good, good staff and brilliant atmosphere! Every night was ever so busy and tips were unbelievble! Now, it''s shallow, depressing and attitudy! Come on Rico (the manager) you can do better, bring that place back to his old glory!”
