Brixton Bar & Grill 15 Atlantic Road, Brixton, London, SW9 8HX (Map)

This place has got it all. Great cocktails, Qaulity fresh food and friendly staff. I think its what a bar/restaurant should be, relaxed but with attention to detail and happy people, staff and customers. Definately... More Atmosphere: Value: Quality:

The Bishop, Dulwich (Bar)
“Visiting friends in the area we were looking for a bite to eat and decided to pop into the newly opened Bishop. Most impressed! We were greeted by the Manager, a charming young man, who showed us to a table and took our order. How nice to have table service! (The service was excellent throughout our visit). The menu was interesting and varied. We had a few of the starters, all of which were extremely good and the tuna steak for my main course was superb. Also, I had a bottle (or two!) of probably the nicest white wine I can remember having tasted. All in all well worth a visit.”

The Red Cow, Richmond & Kew (Bar / Hotel)
“Best local pub in Richmond. It's a proper pub with friendly bar staff and great value pub food. Richmond has been taken over by theme pubs with expensive eats and drinks - the Red Cow has thankfully escaped.”

“This place has totally lost it. I went with a group of friends and it was without a doubt the worst meal I have ever had. Out of the 8 people on our table 6 of us had to send our food back becasue if was completely inedible. The sausage and mash with onion gravy that we ordered, came as burnt sausages, with raw potatoe wedges (becasue they had run out of mash) and that was it. No onion gravey, no veg, no idea !! When we asked for gravy they brough a soup bowl of something that tasted like bisto. The chicken was like rubber, it just goes on a on. Used to be such a lovely pub but whoever is in charge now, they should be ashamed of themselves. ”

“Had the best night on Saturday, a group of us booked Baroque for Dinner - a real taste of back home (NZ) the paua fritters are awesome! DJ played some cool tunes and the flaming cocktails were the best! Highly recommended”

Tiroler Hut, Notting Hill (Bar / Restaurant)
“I imagine that 10 or so years ago the Tiroler Hut was a good laugh, good value and fun entertainment. Unfortunately, it appears 'nothing' has changed since its founding and no amount of schnappes could liven it up. The food was shocking- the Gobi desert is more moist than the schnitzel that I was served and a Bratwurst starter was a mediocre sausage on a plate! The entrecote was a lame piece of meat but at least it was cooked as requested - though this may have been pot luck. The venue was shabby and looked in need of not only a lick of paint but a blooming good scrub. The entertainment was mildly amusing but the laughs stopped long before the accordian did. If this is a taste of Austria, it is a wonder the hills were ever alight with the sound of music. Val-da-ree..... ”

“I'm the big Mongrel aussie, and yes I have left to run pubs back in Melbourne, Australia. The Sussex was a fantastic venue, but from my understanding from former colleagues the standards and service have dropped considerably.”

Antelope, Belgravia (Bar)
“I used to work here between April and June. The manageress is fantastic and takes great care and pride in the Antelope. The beer, atmosphere, staff, and food have improved greatly. Please go the Antelope for a wonderful pub experience. I have no doubt that Zoe will soon bring it back to the Glory Pub it used to be. ”

The Ranelagh, Wood Green & Palmers Green (Bar)
“I love this place! Last year it was a dodgy local boozer but this year it seems to have had a complete overhaul including the creation of a gorgeous beer garden with a wooden decking area and outside gas heaters. Inside, the Ranelagh is just as stunning with a mix of low leather seats and comfy chairs. The staff are superb, when we visited they were incredibly busy but still smiling and happy to go out of their way to accomodate our demands for extra sauces, etc! The food portions are huge - particulary recommend the sausage and mash. There's a very good range of beers, if that's your thing, otherwise decent selection of wines on offer. All in all the Ranelagh is a superb summer venue but looks like a great bet for winter too.”

The Eagle, Shepherds Bush (Bar / Restaurant)
“Having just moved to the area we've been trying out various pubs and the Eagle is by far the best we've encountered. On a sunny weekend, nothing competes with the garden - spacious, smart and enables you to forget that you're in the middle of a busy city! Fantastic food - barbecue especially recommended and great choice of beers. The staff were helpful and far friendlier than the average London offering. The Eagle is definitely worth going out of the way to visit.”

The Gate, Wood Green & Palmers Green (Bar)
“Went here for dinner and drinks last night and was very dissapointed with the service and food. I ordered the Goat & Nut pizza, which had no diernable nuts actually on it, waited far too long at the bar whilst the bar staff served six new customers before myself, and then failed to recieve my desert when the rest of my table did. When i went to enquire where it was, i was informed they had run out. No refund was offered and the bar staff seemed keen only to pass the blame on to each other... i ordered a Malteaser Sundae insted, which contained maybe half a crumbled up malteaser on the top. Although there was no problem with the drinks, and the venue was nice, i will not be returning.”

Waxy O'Connor's, West End (Bar)
“This is without a doubt the best bar to go to for a drink after work or as a pre-club pub or just as a not have-to-get-all-dressed-up-and-love-yourself bar! It looks like it could be a little cafe from the outside but it's HUGE and very imposing when you get in! It's beautiful inside, like a traditional pub but with lovely throne style chairs and coves to hide in (if you want to!) It's also pub prices and the staff are sound! Love it!”

“This place is really expensive and has some ridiculously rude bar staff...One of them got really angry when I asked for water and slammed it down...The rest of em pretended not to see were quite polite tho and the atmosphere was ok when away from the bar...but I still wouldn't come here again.”

“Have been drinking in this bar for years and always wondered why management were insistent on playing dreadful overloud music. But now its quite pleasant in there. Foods good, non-threatening natives and pool, waheeeyyy!!”

“Wow, in the Time era I always thought this place was a cool looking bar populated by a crowd of gits - and now, thanks to the Inc makeover they have the bar they deserve. This bar is in no way as cool as it thinks it is. Avoid.”

Salt House, Epsom & Cobham (Bar)
“Wow! what a transformation. What was formally the drab, dreary Old Bank has finally gone and in its place is an absolute gem of a pub, more of a bar restaurant really with a really cool, stylish interior with food, drinks and staff to match. Only been a couple of times but will be there on a regular basis from now on. At last Epsom has somewhere to shout about. This is definately the most stylish and happening place in the area. Great garden at the rear as well, perfect for long sunny days but also with cool lighting for a very atmospheric "holiday" feel in the evenings.”

“Great looking bar and restaurant. We had tapas out in the courtyard at the back. Tapas list was well thought out and food tasted very good. Wine list is reasonably priced. Overall, I would highly recommend Number 22. ”

“Fabric is a ding, dirty and dark hole, I did not enjoy it at all. It lacks style and class of any kind and I would not rate it amongst any of the clubs in London!”
