“A big venue that was busy on a Friday night when visited before Christmas. Girls are numerous, friendly and good looking. Podiums are great fun and seats at the top in front of the bar are perfect for viewing. Private dance is worth a punt at £20 and the girls get naked! Recommend if you're in the West End although not sure what it would be like if less people in there - may feel very empty.”

“Meal mediocre and not that good quality for the price and also the drinks expensive. I have now been to this establishment twice the first time on a Sunday evening which I have to say was fine. Unfortunately we visited last Friday and they had trouble in their club downstairs and the only access out of the Brickyard is through the restaurant/bar. A guy who was causing trouble was lead through the restaurant by a violent bouncer. Maybe they should consider another exit out of the club or failing that be a bit more selective in who they let in the venue. We spent a lot of money that evening as you can imagine with the meal and drinks so didn't expect such a situation to arise. I found the way the situation was handled very unprofessional.”

Fego Caffe, Maida Vale & St Johns Wood (Restaurant)
“I had reserved a table at Fego for Sunday brunch. I had booked for four persons, however, we had a last minute addition (my partner who came off a night-shift at Guys and St Thomas Hospital). The restaurant was busy but our table would easily have coped with an extra chair at the table. Not according to the manager unfortunately. He made it very clear that this was against the company's policy and that he could not accommodate an extra person. There are two ways to pass on this kind of message to a customer: 1) I am terribly sorry sir, however, we are just unable to accommodate you just now, however, if you can wait perhaps fifteen minutes, we can reshuffle some tables and get you guys seated. 2) You should have booked for five when you called up originally. There is nothing I can do at all. The manager of Fego Caffe had opted for the second approach. I was flabbergasted. It would not have taken a rocket scientist to work out that one more chair at a a table was not going to ruin his breakfast sitting. I tried to reason with the manager however, as my blood began to boil somewhat it became apparent that I was either trying to rationalise with the irrational or Fego takes the view that St Johns Wood's generalised reputation for snobbery is an appropriate platform for a rude reaction from the manager if a potential customer makes a request for anything other than what he had originally asked for. In these times of austerity, I would suggest that people support the more customer-friendly foodie places on the High Street (Maison Blanc, Cafe Josephine) rather than pay money to a company that is unwilling to show even an iota of goodwill or understanding to the very people who keep it in business. I cannot comment on the standard of food, however, if it equates to Fego's level of customer service, I don't suspect it will be up to much.”

“I had a really good night with my boyfriend and wanted to finish it off by having a cocktail. Saw this place walking around so ventured in... The place was full and brimming with energy and the bartenders were a loud bunch acting up, tossing cocktails, throwing ice around and chatting with their mates. I thought what an amazing place...then after waiting 15 minutes of being overlooked for people behind me even though I was directly in front of the bar...at the bar I finally made my order for a "Frozen Strawberry Bellini" and a "Whisky Sour".... I finally got my drink after he mistakenly placed it in front of not one but two of his mates before I shouted out "over here" I stupidly tipped him but hey I work in a similar field and so I always tip... wish I didn't because the "cocktails" were absolutely foul... my "Bellini" tasted like cheap strawberry cordial mixed with beer/flat prosecco...my boyfriends "whisky sour" tasted like some vaguely alcoholic cheap soft-drink... I tried to drink more than 4 sips but felt sick. We returned our unfinished drinks straight to the bar and walked straight out... trying to get the rancid taste out of our mouths with chewing gum....never again. I can see why people go there if they are regulars who know the bartenders... but as a newbie with taste-buds looking for a nice cocktail...to be blunt...it's nauseating. Avoid.”

“Great tip from Fluid. Was looking for somewhere reasonably priced but fabulous in Putney for me and my girlfriends on a Friday night. Used the booking function for the first time and it couldn't be more straight forward with the nice touch of being texted the booking reference. Food was top notch and a great night was had by all. Will definitely visit again.”

“Beer lovers of the world unite! This is without doubt the best bar in London for beer. It has the biggest selection this city has ever seen. In your entire lifetime you wouldn't be able to drink them all. And what a cool little space as well.”

“I had the displeasure of attempting to enter the club, on an indie and dub night, where the bouncers were turning men away without women by their side. As discriminatory as this is (imagine them turning women away for the reverse reasoning), I pointed out that, as a gay man with my boyfriend, I may not be bringing some women along so why could I not enter. The reply was as bigoted as it was blunt, with the bouncer resorting to namecalling towards my boyfriend and friends. I shall happily complain to both management and media about such crass treatment and discrimination in a usually tolerant area of London in the 21st century, and would discourage anyone who cares about equality from visiting.”

Prince of Wales (The) (POW), Clapham (Bar)
“The Prince of Wales in Clapham Old Town is a rare gem of a local pub in an area where local pubs are few and far between. We stumbled upon this lovely little place after a gourmet shopping trip at Moens and Sons butchershop in the old town. The shopping had left us with quite a thirst and we were suffering the effects of a lively wine filled night before. We decided the only solution was to find somewhere for bloody mary's. The POW bloody mary's acted like a miracle of god. They were made by the pub manageress who we have since come to know as Tracy. She is a miracle worker with tomato juice, spices, and vodka! We have now come to know the pub as a bit more of a regular venue and have experienced not only their bloody mary's, but also their good selection of wine and real ales. We have even partaken in the Thursday night pub quiz, which makes for quite a competitive event. The landlord does the MC-ing and is quite the show man. The only thing I would warn you of is don't make sarcastic comments when you are up at the bar, the mic really does magnify all comments, also if you are going to go, get there early as it is a rather popular event. Have I mentioned the decor? It is eccentric, quirky and cool. It really adds to the atmosphere. We liked it so much we have even held a couple of parties there. They let us catered for ourselves once and then another time we ordered in pizza (the menu is behind the bar). This pub is definitely worth a visit especially if you are in need of the miracle of their bloody mary's!”

“On a Monday night we were looking for a local restaurant which accepted tastecard deals. We asked if they accepted tastecard discounts on the way in which they said they did. We had a nice meal, but it was somewhat ruined when they refused to honour the discount in the bill. Shame. Seemed like a friendly restaurant. Watch out for the uber chatty waiter. Now won't be going back as feel like we've been ripped off.”

My friends enjoyed dining here too. I would highly recommend to anyone to visit this restaurant.”
