The O Bar 83-85 Wardour Street, Soho, London, W1D 6QD (Map)

A cramped and fusty venue filled with miserable hippy types wondering how they've come to pay three quid to get in, and fat women showing too much arse cleavage. Of course, then there’s the ham-fisted... More Atmosphere: Value: Quality:

“Large, airy, with a really good feel about the place. Food came in generous servings, service friendly - if maybe a bit too casual, value for money and fun. Will return”

The Windmill, Waterloo (Bar)
“The Windmill is a theatre goers pub that sells great thai food. The walls are plastered with photographs of celebrities that have appeared at the old/new Vic over the years. It's a good place to spot celebs too. Hail he thai lady for a menu of great thai cuisine with alot of choice. Easy going, friendly place.”

Revolution, Clapham (Bar)
“I have to say that if you looking for a a wicked bar with the best cocktails in South London, look no more. The answer is Revolution Bar. After going there a couple of weeks ago for the first time, I found myself completly hooked. The cocktails were among the best I've ever tryed, the decor is really classy and confortable and the music was absolutely fantastic for a wednesday. Just need to say that the dj kept me dancin' till close and it was just a wednesday! Anyway, now you know the best place to go in Clapham. Ivana & Sarah”

The Fez Club, Putney (Club)
“After waiting 45 minutes to get in I would recommend you get there before 10pm. Woops. £8 door charge seemed a bit self important. Interior funky african theme which I loved and music was a good mix of dance/pop/r&b. Only two fights, not bad for South London. Youngish crowd and overall good, not up itself atmosphere, which is refreshing. Best was smirnoff ice £3 a bottle, fantastic! Will be returning...”

“My first grumble of the night was the warm beer. I tried four different bottles, all of which were warm, although the bar staff didn't seem too bothered about this and the warm beer continued to be served all night. Secondly, after being seated for over an hour with a group of friends, we were TOLD by the rude security guard that we had to stand because the small table we were seated at was reserved, and although there was no sign on the table, it didn't matter. A friendly explanation and a few manners would have gone a lot further than brash rudeness. I guess the security guard missed his Customer Service class at bouncer school. And finally, after buying a shot of tequila for my friend on his birthday, the rude bar girl put the drink next to the person standing beside me, and when I turned round the shot had been stolen (probable by accident). I explained this to the bar girl as she handed back my change but she said that it wasn't her problem. I explained to her that I hadn't seen the drink, but it still wasn't her problem. Once again, she must have missed her customer services class at bar girl school. This is the first time I have left a non positive comment on a website and that’s because I felt cheated buying over priced warm beer in a place of rude employees. I hope this prompts the management team to look at their staff training a little more closely as the venue is really cosy, although I won't be going back to re-evaluate. ”

“I found the bar far too packed, the security staff were rude and looked like they were up for a fight, and the bar staff needed more training in manners/English. One of the most expensive venues in London to be treated like cattle. Never again.......”

“The sunday roast at The Plough is a disgrace. £7.50 for a small plate of three thin slices of lamb, 4 tiny roast potatoes, frozen carrots, peas & broccoli. This is the first time we have eaten there so don't know if they were just having an 'off' day, but we won't be bothering again. Also, all the female staff seemed to have an attitude problem”

“We had a stopover in London before a wedding in Scotland, and ended up at Pie 2 Mash the night before the event after the first restaurant we tried to go to was closed. Boy, were we lucky! First of all, the service was unbelievable-- when our waiters found out it was in effect the rehearsal dinner, they brought out champagne on the house and impressed us with their friendly and welcoming way. They even did a little dance for us! The food was so delicious sometimes I dream of returning just for the bangers and mash. We all had such a wonderful time that we planned to return the night after the wedding (so out of the two nights total in London, we had dinner both nights here). Upon are arrival, we were greeted as old friends, asking how the wedding was, and again helping us celebrate with good cheer and more wonderful food. If you're lucky enough to live in the same city as this gem, make sure to check it out!”

The Angelic, Angel & Islington (Bar)
“been to the angelic quite a few times as the place itself is pleasant and very chilled. we've always had to wait a long time for our food, which has been decent enough (a little bit up it's own arse, a lot bit expensive). however there always seems to be something wrong with the place (they're shortstaffed, the kitchen's closed, the chef's dead etc etc) that seems to guarantee poor service. today, we waited 45 minutes only to be told there'd been a mix up and the order hadn't been processed. fair enough, this happens sometimes. when told we could re-order and wait again, we asked for a refund and maybe a free drink (as we'd specifically gone there and waited for food). the barmaid (tubby, pierced lip) informed us that she didn't like the fact that we'd asked for it and therefore wouldn't compensate in any way. when i worked in the service industry i did exactly that - offered the customer the best service possible without unnecessary attitude. its a shame that such a good venue is being run by people with clearly no comprehension of this. shalln't be returning.”

“It started as a great night out. The staff were efficient, the food was great, and the beer was reasonably priced. Then they really cranked up the music so we couldn't talk anymore. So I went and asked the DJ if he could play something we could get up and dance to. He said that they didn't have a dance license and that he was expessly forbidden from playing anything that would encourage people to get up and dance. So I then asked if he could turn it down a bit so we could hear each other talk. He said he wasn't allowed to do that either. The DJ seemed kind of embarassed. We ended up going somewhere else. A stupid end to an evening that initially had so much promise.”
