Thai Square Aldgate 136-138 Minories, Aldgate, City, London, EC3N 1NT (Map)
My wife and I went there last night 10/12/08, we ordered the set menu at £21.00 each. The starters were fine but we had a long wait until the main course turned up, when it eventually arrived it was cold!... More

St. Moritz, Soho (Bar / Restaurant)
“St Moritz was a restaurant I’ve wanted to try for some while. I love the food when I travel to Switzerland and it had been recommended by several friends and colleagues. First impressions were great, it has a fantastic atmosphere and the smell of cheese is everywhere!
All sounds good so far, but sadly by the end of the meal I was overall disappointed and frustrated:
- My partner ordered the escargot, it was great and if you like it, I would definitely recommend it.
- As a starter, I ordered the Swiss sausage which was £7 for a collection of run of the mill meats that came out of the pre-packaged deli at Waitrose. Very disappointed!
- We decided to go for the cheese fondue (I love fondue) and got the standard house variety with bread. Somehow, and I wish I caught this early; they get away with charging £13 per head!
- We had one beer between us and our total was £60…way too expensive for the quantity and quality of food we had.
Would I go again…only if I was taking clients and I could expense it!
It’s time for London restaurants to step up their game. London is a global capital and as patrons we have been way too tolerant with poor service, mediocre food and exorbitant prices.
St Moritz – Cheese is not that expensive, take a look at your pricing structure so that you can enjoy repeat business.”

The Dog and Fox, Wimbledon (Bar)
“Ok, the Dog & Fox is an alright pub in Wimbledon Village that has a fairly buzy atmosphere, good service and lots of drinks on tap, but.... it is a pub and a Youngs pub at that. So when i was charged £7 for 2 pints i was totally shocked. £7! In detail £3.65 for a Guinness and £3.25 for a Youngs Winter Warmer, which you would have thought be a lot cheaper. I can't imagine ever going back there at those prices.... shame.”

The Canonbury, Angel & Islington (Bar)
“I live near the Canonbury and it is currently undergoing renovation. It seems to be taking ages but the planning application on the lamp-post said that they were building a conservatory and it would be re-opening as a restaurant. I truly hope it will be open for this coming summer and that it will be worth the wait.”

“Went to this bar with some friends, al i can say is pretentious! The bar was too packed, they let way too many people in and could not have a drink without someone barging me. Will not be going back again.”

“A truly superb Indian restaurant in my neighbourhood. My husband and I have thus far enjoyed each and every evening we spent there. “Brilliant bar with good value drinks (before 10pm). We were treated to amazingly talented blues band last night (Thursdays = blues). We were the only people in the bar so didn't quite get the atmosphere. Owner is charming and very welcoming. Will become a regular on a Thursday!”

Kitchen Italia, Shepherds Bush (Restaurant)
“I want to give this 1 star but i feel that this would be unfair but I had an awful time here, but the company I was with saved it from getting the 1 star. We were literally served by 5 different people, throughout our meal. We knew we were in for an interesting night when our first waiter told my friend to 'hang on a minute' while he took my order. We wanted garlic bread and were told that they had run out, but were not offered an alternative. The finale was when they gave us the wrong tables bill. So was the food good? It was ok, not very italian, it felt like another restaurant chain......”

The Hoxton Pony, Shoreditch (Bar / Restaurant / Club)
“Awful. Having lived in Shoreditch for three years now, i tried the Hoxton Pony at about 11pm on Saturday for the first time. The music was terrible, the crowd were mainly chavs, i was charged 10% 'optional' service charge on an already overpriced drink having had to que at the bar for over 10 minutes and when questioned on this (politely i might add), the bar man was exceptionally rude and told me to call the police - idiot. I would avoid if at all possible, there are so many good bars/clubs in Shoreditch that are much better on all fronts.”
