Cubana 48 Lower Marsh, Waterloo, London, SE1 7RG (Map)

Can't really comment on the atmosphere as we went at lunctime, and I'm sure Cubana is very different at night, something I will have to try. Pollo chicken was very tasty and served by friendly staff,... More Atmosphere: Value: Quality:

Roast, City of London (Bar / Restaurant)
“What an amazing restaurant. Even without the food the vista of London in full swing is spectacular. Definite contender for 'best view of Borough Market from a restaurant window'. And the food will actually distract you from said view. Brilliant, if a trifle steep. Special treat territory.”

Lord Palmerston, Kentish Town (Bar / Restaurant)
“Don't try the pub quiz here, it's WAY too hard. There must be some clever people living in Tufnell Park because my friends and I got royally whooped. Oh well, it was fun and we learnt some stuff, I guess. Things I DID like about the this gastropub: the variety of areas to sit, the artistic garden, the hearty food, and the jolly good wine list.”

Reun Thai, Hammersmith (Restaurant)
“Excellent Thai restaurant! The food is delicious and reasonably priced. Nice atmosphere in the restaurant upstairs and was surprised with the extra dj part downstairs.... not sure, but it looked geared up for private parties????”

The Old Suffolk Punch, Hammersmith (Bar)
“Good pub for sports as they have a couple of small screens and a large one that drops down. Was here when Barcelona beat Chelsea and the anti-Chelsea brigade were out in force - ba**ards! Been showing the cricket the last month or so too - lovely bashing the Ozzies! Small area out the back for smoking. Food is very good & cheapish too. Not a bad pub, spitting distance from Hammersmith tube.”

Fluid, Clerkenwell (Bar / Restaurant / Club)
“Fluid is an unusual bar. Fairly pricey after the 2-for-1s finish. Sushi is like an afterthought; it’s pretty good, but I wouldn’t vouch for the hygiene standards. Funny smell downstairs. Otherwise, it’s OK. Some days they open up all the doors and windows and it becomes a very different bar. Nice.”

“For me this place fits the bill perfectly. From the decor staff and food. A very enjoyable experience of mixing imaginative with delicious russian dishes with many more tempting dishes. A must to visit again. Sarah”

Massis Lebanese Grill & Bar, Paddington (Bar / Restaurant)
“Visited Massis with a group of friends last week and it was really nice. We ordered lots of Mezze plates to share and loved them all. Quick service, good prices and nice cocktails too. Would definitely recommend.”

Garufa, Angel & Islington (Bar / Restaurant)
“Walked past Garufa on the way back to Finsbury Park tube after an Arsenal game. Had no expectations but tempted by the Argentinian beef............ we weren't disappointed. Perfectly cooked 'rare' steaks and the sides we chose were equally delicious. Relaxed friendly service and a good, varied, reasonably priced wine list. Will definitely visit again.”

The Castle, Angel & Islington (Bar / Restaurant)
“Most people turn right when they come out of Angel underground station if they're going out, understandably, but this pub is a nice little treat in the other direction. A good selection of wines and beers, food that is comfortably hearty, and a roof terrace that is perfect for bus spotting. Best pub south of Angel tube but north of Clerkenwell. Probably.”

The Avalon, Clapham (Bar / Restaurant)
“Wow, what a transformation! This was once a venue for footie scoundrels, now it has thankfully become THE cool hangout in this part of town, filled to bits with young, gorgeous professionals, like myself. Easily the best bar-restaurant-pub thingie this side of Clapham South. And what a beer garden! Who knew it was even there?”

The Cambria, Peckham & Camberwell (Bar / Restaurant)
“There's no chance of stumbling across this great gastropub by accident, it's literally in the middle of nowhere. Along with the Sun & Doves, this is one of the best pubs in Camberwell. Brilliant beer garden, fabulous bohemian decor, ENORMOUS feed portions, and an array of rib-tickling entertainment. I'll definitely go back with some mates.”

Cubana, Waterloo (Bar / Restaurant)
“I'm not sure what led to the comments below, as I found the experience at Cubana absolutely superb . It's the type of restaurant you go to with a group of friends to have a laugh, enjoy some live music and down some great cocktails. Mojitos were two for £6.95 during happy hour - so you certainly can't complain about being overcharged, and if you want some fresh tasty food then you should give it a try. My friend had the sirloin steak with the potato rosti which he thoroughly enjoyed (well nothing left on the plate) and I went for the pollo criollo chicken which was very very tasty. A fine night out which I would certainly recommend!”

El Metro II, Hammersmith (Bar / Restaurant)
“For those who’ve forgotten to phone ahead to get on the guest list for the El Metro Bar: don't worry you should get in fine. This is both a splendid rescue of a historic site and a real addition to London’s underground station bar scene and which served ‘hugely enjoyable jugs of Sangria’. Service is pretty efficient & the unusual toilets are ‘an experience not to be missed’. Try it or miss out but don't complain if you're never invited.”

The Pembroke, Kensington (Bar)
“What is the point of having a wonderful beer garden which you are unable to book? I tried to book dinner today for 6 and was told that it iss not possible - on the hottest day of the year! Mistake, you just lost £300. I suggest that if you changed your policy and let people book for dinner you may make rather a lot of money.”

Villiers Terrace, Crouch End (Bar / Restaurant)
“I'm sure this was once a Crouch End old man's pub. Someone must've refurbished it because now it's a completely different venue. The outdoor seating at both front and back are key features for summer drinking. The wine is decent too. As is the menu. A surprise and welcome addition to this North London neighbourhood.”

Kings Head, Enfield & Barnet (Bar / Restaurant)
“Proper suburban London, this. If I lived in the area this would definitely be the local pub I would frequent. The food is of restaurant standard, the decor is inspiringly modern, and the garden bar area is like a wonderland (if only I had a friend called Alice!).”

Strongroom Bar, Shoreditch (Bar / Restaurant)
“There are so many bars, pubs, clubs and restaurants to choose from in and around the Hoxton/Shoreditch/Old Street area, it's difficult to know where to start. Curtain Road is always a good place to kick things off, I reckon, and this tucked away bar is good for two reasons: the outside seating area and the beer selection. Nicely hidden too.”
