“re: the critical review below I have since received a full apology and redress from Revolution, and the way the management handled it so swiftly has convinced me that last Saturday was an unfortunate one-off, caused by a series of misunderstandings. Rare to get such a response - so now I''m left recommending Revolution but encouraging you to get there early!”

“My friend and I held our joint 30th birthday party at Revolution and I am absolutely livid about what happened. We were told that with a guest list, 25 people could get in if they came later than 9.30pm. We spent a lot of time organising the list and getting people to come on time, only for the bouncers and the other manager to tell us that everyone had to queue after 8.30! What was the point of the guest list?! At least ten of my friends stood outside for more than half hour, then left. I wasted most of my evening arguing in the rain with the bouncers trying to explain to them what I had been assured would happen. That is unacceptable, if they have a door policy like that they should have told us when we came to talk to them. We thought we were coming to a sophisticated, well-organised place! Not only that, but the minute the lights came on the bouncers and the other manager were the first ones to come up and grab the birthday cakes from the table. While the bar staff were very helpful, I cannot forgive that kind of hypocritical behaviour. They have since apologised and tried to explain themselves, but I was very disappointed. ”

The Watershed, Wimbledon (Bar)
“Its a shame that this place still has a reputation as being the ''meat-market'' of Wimbledon. Im not complaining about this mocker as it never failed to serve me short of its reputation! However since its refurbishment The Watershed deserves to be given a fresh chance by those who remember it being a bit of a hole where you could pick up without trying. The decor is refreshing and the 2 room set up works for those wanting a bit of a 70s old skool feel in the front room of their fair share of the latest dance choons in the backroom. The cocktails and shots menu is ok but not as extensive as that at PoNaNa. The age demographic is probably the largest of any nightclub Ive been too with a 18-45 year old feel. Be careful in the front room the lights are dark and the mutton do their best to pass off as lambs. The Watershed is probably the best true Nightclub in Wimbledon in terms of music and one of the few places open after midnight!!! However it is very annoying if you are in a group of 2 males and refused entry because of your gender. If the opposite were true Im sure their would be an outcry. Yes it keeps the male/female bias to a minimum inside but it is very infuriating especially on those wet cold winter nights having to try and find a female escort to gain entry into a nightclub. ”

Bar Sia, Wimbledon (Bar)
“This is one of those little finds that you shouldnt really tell anyone about as it should be your best kept secret! The decor is fantastic and the use of space unequalled. It is the downstairs environment where this place excels creating coves and lounges to laze flirt and relax in. The DJs can create an ambient mix to chill to or pull out the stops to make you jump up and stop just tapping your feet. The Barstaff are fantastic and you never have to queue more then a moment for a drink. A great place to start or end the night. Also for parties they are fantastic in the hire of the downstairs basement for a reasonable price. This is the jewel in the crown of Wimbledons nightlife.”

Footlights, Wimbledon (Bar)
“Restaurant : Not bad not great. Mexican is Excellent better then a lot of Mexican restaurants I have tried. The rest is pretty standard stuff, you cant really go wrong with a burger and chips! Reasonable prices and a lot nicer in the day or in the summer when can sit outside on the balcony. Nightclub: I wouldnt so much call it a nightclub as this is misleading but more of a DJ Bar. Bouncers are friendly and helpful a rarity! Takes forever to get served and is overcrowded. Music used to be fantastic especially on a Friday. However the new DJ is awful and has no problem clearing the dancefloor if he so desires!!! Would be nice to have a dresscode as if you dress up too much can feel silly next to the paupers in ripped shorts and vest tops. Hmmm. Also, like many places in Wimbledon avoid at half term when the local rudeboys aim to ''tear the place up''. A good night out but if you want consistently better music go to Watershed. If you want something a bit more casual fun and friendly then Footlights is for you. Please change the DJ and make this place great again!!!”

“A sham of a pub. Slow service, overpriced beer, music so loud conversation is rendered impossible. Whats more, the so-called live bands only play covers. Many more better places to go just a few minutes down Upper Street.”

The Kings Head Theatre Pub, Angel & Islington (Bar)
“I stumbled upon this place searching for a late night drink. It was terrible. Mainly because of the clientele - rabid older women in the style of Anita Robson but wearing clothes intended for teenagers, and Hugh Grant circa-four weddings era ''drama'' types with holey jumpers and scarfs who seemed to think that drinking in a theatre bar would actually make them ''theatre, dahling''. However, their seemingly unassailable self-conferred superiority did not stop them leching at us all night. Watch out if you''re even vaguely normal, cos this aint the place for you. Our evening ended when an obvious eastenders extra reject started a fight with my friend. I think this was simply for being attractive and alive. To start things off, she pulled my friend''s hair. We couldn''t believe it. It reminded me days of Grange Hill, where she probably learnt that technique from her one day as an extra in 1977. The band was awful, and so is the place. Most of the people drinking here seemed to need AA; they were, as a crowd, generally arseholed and letting everyone know about it. Being drunk isn''t usually such a terrible thing, but in this bar, it is. And a waste of an evening.”

“I read about the club in the Metro and thought I''d check it out, on a Saturday. They had mentioned it was small, but nothing prepared me for the size!!The atmosphere though is great! There was a gig on that night, and I loved it TOTALLY. It got rather CROWDED into the night, but that was okay...it is a great place to check out when they are having gigs...or otherwise I guess...definately going again, soon...”
