The Ship 41 Jews Row, Wandsworth, London, SW18 1TB (Map)

Went here on Friday night after work... what a wonderful place to let your hair down and enjoy the sunshine on the massive decked area. My friend and I had an amazing burger from the outdoor barbeque and... More Atmosphere: Value: Quality:

“Extremely poor place to go on a Friday night and absolute rip off. We were told that our guestlist had suddenly closed, so the door staff kept us waiting til 11pm even though we arrived at 10.30. There reason for this was to obviously charge us the entry fee and not let us in for free. When we did get in it was overpriced, shabby and rude staff.”

Cammasan Oriental, Kingston (Bar / Restaurant)
“I had often walked past Cammasan en route to either Strada, Wagamama or Ha-Ha's for dinner with friends as Charter Quay and the riverside is generally where we go in Kingston for a relaxed evening meal. I finally managed to get a friend of mine to try Cammasan with me - a friend who I nearly always end up in Wagamamas with. And we haven't gone back since! The waiting staff were exceedingly helpful and didn't mind me quizzing them about the menu - they were even happy to offer their personal opinion on the dishes - something I find to be very rare amongst the unenthusiastic waiting staff that seem to populate restaurants now-a-days. The menu itself boasts alot more than the usual pad thai's or yaki soba's in its noodle section, as well as having extensive other choices for those that don't noodles, or rice even - the salads looked as attractive as anything else on the menu, again something I never see in restaurants. The food itself was very good, as was the delicate presentation - you can actually taste the spices and herbs that they list on the menu. For the quality of the cooking, as well as portion size, the price is almost unbelievabley reasonable. All in all I strongly advise anyone who is bored of Wagamama's, or just looking for a nice restaurant with a relaxed, friendly, smiling attitude to visit Cammasan.”

“Came here with a bunch of friends a few nights back before we headed along the Southbank for some silliness. Shared an incredible brisket dish with a friend. Great drinks menu! Super location. Service was a little haphazard and shoddy though.”

“I went there for a drink and ended up having an allnighter there! The drinks can be a little pricy but they are excellent. The music on saturday when i was there was just fantastic . A fusion of different genre which was mixed and mashed, was an absolute art to behold!! the best dj i have ever seen!!! for that reason alone i give it a 5!!!”

The Yard Bar, Soho (Bar)
“I have been going to The Yard a lot lately, I forgot how much I liked it as it went through a real down patch over the last few years. Yeah so the new management threw some paint on the walls and made it pretty, but The Yard does what it says on the tin. It's a great open space with good quality drinks at fair prices...I do wonder though how they get all those gorgoes boys behind the bar though...wowo! So what if they know that they are beautiful...if you want ugly boys then go somewhere else...I vote for beautiful!”

“I've been to many restaurants in London, but have to say that, for the prices it charges, La Ratatouille really takes the cake. I had an entire meal for around twenty pounds, which included some amazing king prawns. The crème caramel I had for desert was so simple and yet so elegant, and helped bring a great meal to a deserving finish. I'll definitely visit La Ratatouille again – can't really think of many other places in London that serve such high quality food without significantly lightening my wallet.”

“A great night out - but be warned - you've gotta look the part i you want to get past the mean-looking bouncers. It's also the kind of venue where feet become skewered on stiletto heels so be careful. Enjoyed the music, upmarket crowd, champagne flowing!”

China House - The Orient Restaurant, Bloomsbury (Restaurant)
“We went to eat there last night 21st April 2010. We were stuck in a corner and when 3 other people were shown to the table next to us and sat down we could not get out if we needed to. Our starter when it arrived (12 minutes after ordering) and only a few minutes before our drinks were brought to our table all had to be passed over the table next to us. The main course was passed over to us, only a few minutes after the starter. If you asked me about the service in the establishment I would have to ask "what service" Main course was cold by time we had finished our main starter. The lady who "served" us did not enquire for us about the dinner and passed a bill to us in Chinese no break down or explanation about the cost or what we were paying for which I have to say was high for just two of us. I would not recommend this place to my worst ememy.”

“I'm a veggie so I'm always looking for places that I can with my meat eating friends and we can all find something which we love, I love any kind of fish, so I’ve always eaten Sushi, the large rolls with the rice round the outside are good filled with spicy tuna and they do nice dumplings too. I've even converted my meat eating friends to all the fish on offer here!”

“Great venue, exactly what Chelsea needed! I thought the food was perfect, there is something light if you are just wanting to stop by for a light snack or some heavy meals if you are really hungry. Well priced too, which is surprising in Chelsea! Really busy when it gets sunny as all the windows open and so get there early!”

“I was taken to Paradise on a date last week. I had been before a few years ago and when he told me that is where we going, I was not impressed to say the least. Thankfully, it was nothing like my last visit. The decor was modern yet homely. The cliental was very pleasant west Londoners and my food was delicious indeed. Service was casual and friendly and we were not asked to leave the table after out desserts and coffees. (A personal grip of mine) . I will be back with the girls for sure”

The Noble, Finsbury Park (Bar / Restaurant)
“How a pub (which fancies itself as a gastro joint obviously) can continue operating and apparently being popular to some of the more mindless young and cash ready beats me! I witnessed someone high up 'tearing a strip' off a quiet and friendly barmaid in front of us when she did not get the music right (she looked like she was too used to it and needed to keep her job). This pub has been in its current manifestation for some years - it is tucked away at the top of Stroud Green opposite Crouch Hill station. I wish it was staffed as it was two years plus back. It was quieter and more friendly too. It is clear that the head barman makes a thing out of being rude to customers he doesn't like. I think he expects to get his own TV show maybe on the back of it. I work in television and I can safely say you would only surface on an obscure cable channel dedicated to the Terminally Stupid. Not smart and funny enough. Maybe his acolytes at the bar get free drinks to keep them sweet. The food quality (I had the ribeye steak) was actually good - so the chef is a real asset. The small square plates were not cleverly retro though - 4 chips and 2 pieces of veg was all there was room for. If people want a cider pub go to the Harp in Chandos Place, The Bree Louise by Euston, or The Green Man in Riding House Street. The latter is the same groovy sort of place but with good staff and management. And do not query the automatic inclusion of the service on the PDQ machine which is awesomely difficult to reverse off - you might just get barred. I bet the staff don't get this percentage and would prefer to be somewhere else. I am local but never again (until the management changes). One star for the food. 'Nulle poin' for the customer care.”

Maya, Soho (Bar / Club)
“The Bouncer on the door was, according to my friend, 'honey-eyed' and he was a really nice guy to deal with. We turned up about 11:15 and he told us the place was empty and it was probably best to come back later and that he would remember us and it would not be a problem. So, we popped down to Zillis for a number of excellent Mojitos and pitched back up at Maya at midnight. True to his word we walked straight in, I paid £20 and it was free for 'ladies' so Sue was in for gratis! We walked down into the club - very nice if still quite empty. Bar at one end that was roped off and seemed to remain so for the whole evening so we used the other bar. £21 for two v&t's! Clientele - young girls in short dresses with knickers showing who clearly didn't like music and whose only desire was the gyrate to every track in a way they have seen on music videos, the same way to every single track. Couple of guys hanging around?. The DJ - blonde and pouting in her Swarovski diamante headphones. I recently DJ'd at a friends wedding and a 40th using two iPods and I can honestly say that I rate my efforts a lot better than hers. Gaps between tracks, no attempt at mixing just fading tracks in and out of each other - she was even being helped by 3 other people - absolutely laughable and the whole place was not exactly jumping. I chatted to a guy who turned out to be one of the owners - having bought the club from administrators last year. Even he admitted she was useless but 'pretty'. Anyway after ”
