The Roxy 3-5 Rathbone Place, London, W1P 1DA (Map)

Friday nights are great and we have been going for about 3 years off ond on. Staff are great and always friendly. The rock music does get too much and that last dj really plays for himself not the crowd.... More Atmosphere: Value: Quality:

Pause, City of London (Bar)
“Nice enough bar, although a bit on the small side. We reserved an area only to find on arrival that it was overrun with other people ... the waitresses did a very good job of clearing the area for us though, and their service throughout the evening was great. HOWEVER ... one of the main reasons we went to Pause was the Happy Hour until 7pm. Only when I received the bill did I realise the exclusions to this policy ... house champagne and beers are NOT in happy hour. The waitress failed to tell me this even though I specifically asked her if we were indeed in Happy Hour. VERY DISAPPOINTED, considering the number of bottles of champagne and beers we had, this made a significant difference to the bill. We did have a fantastic party but this has been marred somewhat by the Happy Hour incident! (and this bar is not cheap anyway...)”

“Freud's is my dream. The most delicious cocktails and a huge selection enabling even my changeable moods to be fulfilled. The atmosphere is very artistic and it’s like a hidden underground secret (however, always busy). I recommend Freud’s to all my international friends who are visiting for just 2/3 days; it’s worth it.”

“Found this restaurant the perfect place to take clients. Service is good and food is excellent value - not cheap but then you wouldn't be taking your clients to somewhere where the food is cheap.”

“I have to say this is the worst O'neils we have been to. The manager is a proper witch, and my friends and I left because of the very bad service and attitude. Never to return and I will tell others about this pub.”

“It beats me why this restaurant often seems almost empty. I could find little to criticise here: the food is delicious, the service attentive, the decor fairly stylish and the price moderate, by the standards of Japanese restaurants. Actually the main drawback is that it's often too quiet in there. Let us change that as citizens of Clerkenwell, lest we lose this great place.”

“Nice pub, great location, and good value with a great selection of beers and friendly staff. Well worth a visit. Doesn’t seem to get many regulars though, which may not be necessarily such a bad thing!”

“I've been to the Zero bar for the beer but never to eat until yesterday. I was visiting from Brighton and decided it was probably a good idea to eat there because it could be washed down with their own delicious black lager. I ordered from the vast menu a (to die for) pizza with caramelized pear, gorgonzola and walnuts. It arrived promptly with a smile from the rather cute waiter. He made sure we had everything (slightly minus a knife or two). The only thing lacking was the house white, I couldn't drink it so settled for water instead. I loved this place, Zero Bar an experience, not just lunch. Can't wait to go back... please open one in Brighton!”

“One word – dire. Having traipsed some way to get here, we were in need of a hearty Sunday lunch. The first shocker was the prices – £11 for a pub roast is plain cheeky. Food was cold and sent back. It returned after a long wait, cold again. Roast was ok but nothing special and certainly not worth the hefty price. A goat's cheese canneloni at £9 should have been great but was actually disgusting. Some of the staff were a bit snotty when we said the food was cold. Manager redeemed things but he could hardly argue when we refused to pay. It is a nice pub to look at but they desperately need to sort the food out. Not worth a special journey - pop in (for a drink) if you're local.”

“This used to be a top East End Gay Bar. The quality acts used to all perform here, the music was good and the customers and staff very friendly. Successive renovations have made the pub/club far to open and noisy, when acts are booked they seem to lack enthusiam for the venue and it's management, often knocking the pub management from the stage. The pub management also seem to have forgotten that this is a Gay Venue and the place seems over run with straights kissing and simulating sex and treating the gay customers like an exhibit in a zoo! ”

“I couldn't believe the previous reviews; I mean how can you charge £16 for a main course, £9 for a vegetarian pasta and it be awful. So I went and the food was no better than school dinners or you could expect, from a cafe (with no accent). Can my tastebuds really be too sophisticated for chelsea at such a young age? Music was great though .”
