“This pub is all about the food. Make no mistake, it isn't a cheap eat, but it is excellent. The boss here has very adamant about responsible farming and sustainability and it really shows in the menu. Nothing is out of season. Excellent range of ales and lovely staff too. This is definitely a step up from your normal run-of-the-mill gastropub. I thoroughly recommend checking it out. Try the sea bass too. It's devine.”

“What a find this bar is! It's literally in the middle of nowhere, yet it's really popular with a real mix of people. I love the whole school theme (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle arcade game, clock set to school 'home time', nothing but old school tunes), and the cocktails are really potent too. My tip: go during happy hour and tip the barman. He will invariably make your next drink much stronger.”

“Maybe some of the people who are giving the North Star a bad review for service have received bounceback from their own attitutdes. I have been going to this pub for nearly 3 years now and the service, attitude, atmosphere and value for money cannot be beaten. It is far superior to any other venue in the area.”

“I found this bar lacking in hospitality, very pricey and has got, probably the most ignorant, rude and obnoxious member of staff in Camden town. I did`nt feel welcome in the bar at all. He should take another lesson in PR skills and manners. I wonder how many customers don`t go back. K”

“The venue has got to be one of the most impressive bars and restaurants in London. They have really gone to town with huge sculptures and intricate carvings and features that have that 'wow factor. The drinks and food are very good, but the service really needs to be improved. We were only a small group and we had to keep waiting for drinks and the venue was only just half full. Certainly worth a visit, and hopefully when they sort the service out this will be one of the top destination venues in London.”

“Very good home-style cooking - we had tapas starters including empanadas, ceviche and chorizo croquettes, then marinated sirloin steaks (melt in the mouth), cuban chicken and prawns creole - with cocktails (very fresh tasting - the pina colada was the only one i've had which was made with fresh pineapple) - it came to just over £20 a head. Not the flashiest venue, but pretty nice and a bit different”

“Came here with the lads on a Wednesday for a few beers, ended up sampling some of the cocktails and was very impressed, never been a cocktail man before but they are really a touch of class. Came back on the Friday and had a great night. Great music, great people, great drinks, just a great bar. You got to give it a try 4.5/5”

“An absolute dive very small and crowded can't even get to the bar, music is to loud to have a conversation, doesn't even have a cloak room. My very expensive coat and jumper went missing from there and the manager was very rude and un-helpful as where the staff. Would never return and recommend never to go there.”

East Bloc, Shoreditch (Bar / Club)
“The best thing about this place is that it's not The Joiners (only joking, I know it’s forbidden to say anything against that old dump). I have been to East bloc quite a lot and it’s pretty good. Best things so far have been the mortimer/pugh christmas party (- of course – a lot of the proper old crowd out and someone who knows what they are doing on the door) and Meat on Saturday 29 Jan was a good laugh. The Friday night (disco fag bar) varies depending on the people – sometime excellent, sometimes a bit disappointing. I have to say that as time goes on the place is attracting more of the wannabe cool try hards – i.e. the people who have wrecked this part of town and forced us all out into dalston etc. Just checked out their wesbite and they go on about being good value. This from a place that charges £4 for luke warm cans of beer. That aside this is a welcome addition and I hope that it isn’t totally swamped by the bridge and tunnel crowd for a while longer.”

Mustard Bar & Lounge, City of London (Bar / Restaurant)
“Venue - very nice decor and seems spacous but not when they cram too many people in! I couldnt dance, or move at all, so was very uncomfortable. Staff - Bouncers were horrible, i was more scared of them than felt safe around them. They had no customer service skills and seem to just be on a power trip. Wrong people in the job!! Bar staff were also pretty useless, delivered me different drinks to what i had ordered and were very slow. wont be going there again. wouldnt advise you do either!!”
