“My husband, 23 year old son, and 26 year old daughter got off a bus, hopelessley lost, trying to get back to Islington, stumbled upon the pub and were immediately rescued and assisted by a great barman from the pub. We thank you! Brilliant staff, met a number of fab London identities coming & going while we enjoyed a few hours of excellent service and assistance when we were lost & needed directions. Michael the proprieter was lovely. Thankyou to all the lovely staff for your wonderful gift of showing us the London we did not expect to see. We will be back.”

“First visit in '69 way back and most recently '95 i shall jealously guard my tee shirt. Always tremendously invigorating style of livening up the place. I miss it so it was rather a point of departure for the many lives touched. Never knew Heaven and many others. Earl's Court trivialized!”

“i've dined at The Pembroke 3 times now & on each occasion have had a marvellous meal. it's rare to find a menu where you want to try everything. all the ingredients are fresh, the portions are just the right size & the wine list, though not cheap, has been very well selected. The service was exemplary... particularly from the maitre d' , Halo, who is huge fun , very knowledgable & brilliant at his job. very much looking forward to my next visit. highly recommended.”

“I met friends at The Running Horse after work and was more than pleasantly surprised. I had been expecting the same not-bothered attitude as staff in other pubs in the same area and so when our waitress greeted us with a smile and told us to sit and relax, she’d get us some drinks and some bread and olives to nibble on, I was so shocked I had to remind myself to acknowledge her suggestion. The whole evening was lovely; the place wasn’t too crowded or loud so we could keep up a conversation without inflicting sore throats on ourselves, but there were enough people about to ensure a good atmosphere. The food was superb as well, I had the pork belly and I would highly recommend it! I’ll definitely be going back to The Running Horse, and they should be seeing a few other faces from my office after my 3 day marathon of nonstop raving!”

“This restaurant has been completely ruined by being taken over by Black and Blue. The friendly and experienced staff have nearly all left, the atmosphere is non existent, the food is indifferent and the prices have gone up. What a shame such a unique restaurant/bar/place to meet has been destroyed. After 20 years as diners there we will think twice about going again.”

“This is a really gorgeous place. You can have a really romantic time here if you want. It is not too crowded at all but not too empty either. I just love the service. The food is perfect, and so reasonably well priced.”

“Spot on venue, easily one of the best in london, the atmosphere is relaxed and unpretentious, the music programming is absolutely first rate and the food is pretty decent, but lets face it, you go to east village for the music, its a quality music venue with two floors of absolute spot on cutting edge talent. nuff said. You want a 5star meal go to a french restaurant, heres the place to GET DOWNNNNN!”

“An utterly disappointing dining experience in London's famous Brick Lane. It looked great from the outside and was pretty full which we took to be a very good sign... ...wrong! The kitchen did not have the capacity to deal with the customers. Waited over 40 minutes for a meal. When we asked what was holding the food up we were treated with total disdain by staff (who tried hard to ignore our eye contact, waves, etc). Small portions, no spice, entirely lame. Wouldn't go back if you paid me.”

“Uber chic Vanilla is a hidden gem for those looking to impress. Their cocktail of the day got the dining experience off to a good start and the staff - professional, knowledgeable, friendly yet not overbearing - warm and soften the edges of the restaurant's ultra-mod feel. Food beautifully presented and impressive wine selection.”

Sway, West End (Bar / Restaurant)
“Dear reader, I deeply regret not checking this and other review sites before my wife and I made our arrangements for Sway. Sadly we were 'locked in' due to it being packaged as part of a hotel deal online. In one word: Awful. In more: We both found the service appalling, the staff seem new and confused, the food (can someone tell me please how you can really mess up cheesy garlic bread? It resembled plastic on balsa wood). It took thirty - THIRTY - minutes for this shambles of a starter to arrive and when we complained it was met with a curt 'Ok'. The lower stairwells smelt of sewage and the DJ (I use the term in the loosest possible sense) in the nightclub seemed to not so much be playing or mixing but rather talking to his girlfriend and ensuring the album 'Ministry of Sound Greatest Hits 2010' continues to spin. All in all it comes across as a racket intent on pumping out overpriced cheap food, expensive drinks and poor music. In short, the venue cares about one thing only, making money. Eric and Diane, Herts.”

“Came here with my wife for her birthday earlier in the month, We are regular diners on the London scene. We've be here before on several occassions and we had a great time. The service was slick as always and it was nice to see a change in the menu. We will be going back in the New Year for some more!!”

“I had made a reservation for my Birthday with the sales team who were very profesional and advised my area was confirmed and recevied a confirmation shortly afterwards. On the evening I was met by a host who was expecting me and wished me Happy Birthday (nice touch). She showed me down to my area which was decorated with balloons and a mini bottle of champagne, again a nice touch. The venue looked amazing and clearly a lot of money was spent on it, looks very premium! Clientele was perfect, lots of young profesionals and glamourous people! We loved loved the Happy hour from 5pm till 8pm half price on all drinks! This went down very well with my guests. Music was great a real mix for everyone, couldnt get me off the dance floor. All in all I had a great evening and would most certainly go back and recommend to my friends. A visit to Opal is a must!”

“This restaurant is well worth trying. We hadn’t eaten Moroccan food before so were pleased our waiter was willing and able to guide us through their extensive menu. We decided upon the ‘grill feast’, a four course meal, which allowed us to try lots of dishes. It was a good choice and washed down well with a couple of bottles of Moroccan beer. The restaurant wasn’t busy, probably because it was early, but we didn’t feel intimidated as the restaurant has a really warm, cosy, intimate feel. I wish they sold the crockery they use and lamps – would look cool in my flat.”

“i came here on a night out for a friend's thirtieth. to be honest, it was TOTALLY packed. my feet were aching like hell and there was no where to sit. I couldnt believe we were not allowed to move around the floor upstairs cos it was 'special access' - i imagine u had to pay to get into that area. what utter rubbish. My shoes were hurting so much so i sat down on the stair to make an adjustment and the really unfriendly staff told me i wasnt allowed to sit there. I was so annoyed. In the end, i just decided to leave. I dont think il be back.”
