“The food here is certainly good. But like a growing number of restaurant they have a policy where they want to kick you out after a while and get some new punters in. Unlike a lot of restaurants where it is two and a half hours – at Shochu it only two hours. Which means if you have forked out for their seven course tasting menu – which they are not always that prompt in bringing out to you – you risk being asked to leave before you have finished. I tried to book at 9pm in order to avoid this but was told that they still booked people until eleven pm! Unbelievable. When you are spending upwards of £100.00 per head you’d think you were treated better than you would be at McDonald’s, but unfortunately at Shochu – that just isn’t the case.”

“Had my 21st at Bar Social and Kitchen. Banging night, good music and good service. Definitely improving weekly. Great place for a quiet week night drink.”

“There is no other pub on church street to match it. I love this pub, professionally run and with great bar staff, not to mention the only Cask Marque pub in the area, their ales will not be beaten. I can't praise this pub enough. I just love it. Newly refurbished beer garden at rear with covers to keep you dry in the winter. You got to see it to appreciate it.”

“Without a doubt the best Saturday night in Shoreditch The resident DJ Younglee never fails to blow me away and judging by the dancing folk all around everyone else feels the same... no wondered its a packed house every saturday (they even have a live sax player who comes on later in the evening). If you like good music that isn't your bog standard 'funky house' or 'dirty electro' this is the place for you....... can't wait to return.”

“Not good at all. Went last weekend with friends and managed to get a table really easily as it was very quiet. The pricing was very high for the standard of food, cocktails and staff. We were happy to pay as long as it was good value which BB does not offer.”

“The best drinking establishment in Holborn. The beer is quality and extremely cheap, especially considering the area. The surroundings are proper old man style but with a younger crowd than you'd expect. The food is also very good. Just stay away from the fruit machine...”

“The Alma is my local and is a great place. It is very cosy and perfect for a couple of drinks in the evening after a long day at work. The food is really nice - love the deserts! The staff are really friendly and the music they play is great and they have a small but lovely garden, heated in the winter for smokers. All in all if you are passing by, go and have a drink at The Alma!”

“This a little gem of a place. Simple bar with lots of nautical knick-knacks, juke box is a bit annoying but not too loud. The best reason for going there in the winter is for the incredible Sunday lunches. I've eaten in some great restaurants in the past but the stuffed roasted loin of pork with braised red cabbage is one of the best meals I've had in years. Huge portions, gallons of lovely winey gravy and crunchy roasties for 8 and a half quid. The steak and porter pie my mate ordered was also fantastic and arrived with a goblet of almost black marmitey gravy. The other remarkable thing about the cosy little upstairs restaurant was the music. We identified, Neil Young, Ryan Adams, Outkast and Nina Simone and loads of stuff that we didn't know. The very obliging chef was happy to let us scan through his iPod and choose tracks. What a gent. Can't praise Wibbley Wobbly enough.”

“Very slow service - waited 20mins to be seated despite empty tables, food order was forgotton about and we waited 45 mins before having to ask for it. When the food arrived it was very average.”

“I found this place shocking. I went with my girlfriend and was both nursing hangovers and wanted a carefree and smooth experience. We waited for about 20 minutes to be seated whilst their were tables free but the staff hadn't even bothered to clean the tables. We eventually got a table but had to wait whilst the waiter cleaned it whilst we were sitting at the table. Eventually we got served by a waitress who I can only describe as "in her own world" she took our order and we waited, and waited and waited, 3 tables around us had changed so covers. 50 minutes later we asked another waitress about our order and she enquired with the original waitress about the order? It hadn't been placed and our new waitress has to take over (what really annoyed us was the original waitress had knew she had made a mistake but didn't even bother apologising, she just let her friend takeover and then dodge us the for the time we spent their). When the food eventually came it was below average and the chips were cold. If you really want to wait nearly an hour for your food and have rude staff completely ignore you then go to this restaurant, otherwise stay well clear.”

“I have just read some good reviews of this place but when I went I was not that impressed - struggled to have a conversation with my 2 friends sitting right next to me as music was loud or accoustics not quite right and it was way too dark so couldn't really see people! Also, a shame they serve doubles as a matter of course - what about those people who just want a nice single?! Music good though and not atmosphere but not sure I would go again...”

“Very disappointing. All hype and no substance. They are trying so hard to be trendy but not suceeding. Service was terrible, abrupt and rude. The restaurant was almost empty due to the many bad reviews according to the waiters. The bar in the basement was really stuffy and the drinks took an eternity to arrive even though it was not busy. Experienced staff who spoke english would be helpful. Won't be rushing back there.”

“Just walked out the Phoenix. Called about 15 minutes before the rugby started to find out whether they were showing the match. A little bit shocked having ordered a couple of drinks and some food for the second half, to see it turned over to the football. Had a quick chat to the manager who could barely string an apology together. Made to feel very unwelcome. Extremely poor, wont be going back.”

"I found Majingos again... I used to go here when it was based at South Quay in Canary Wharf and has now relocated to Limehouse E14 in case anyone doesn't know. It was good in the old days and I am pleased..." Which venue is this?

"Very bad experience. Booked a table, before paying making sure that the table will not be moved at some point to make space. Looks like the woman taking bookings called Candice will promise you anything..." Which venue is this?
