The Dovetail, City of London (Bar / Restaurant)
“The Dovetail is a small bar in a quiet alley off Clerkenwell Green. It's a bit like Belgo's less pretentious, slightly eccentric cousin, if that helps you get a picture of it. I went there for a quiet drink, which turned into a loud drink with the aid of beers called Lucifer and Satan, which turned into a magnificent and relatively inexpensive meal, which turned into an entire evening of merriment as my companion and I tore through the menu of 200 different Belgian beers. It looks a bit odd what with the Tintin posters, slightly medieval feel, and somewhat uncomfortable chairs. But I wasn't in a position to fault it, especially when I ended up with a blackcurrant beer that looked like Ribena and tasted like liquidised summer pudding. Oh my god it was so good. Go there! No, better yet don't go there. More for me...”

Gate Restaurant, Bar & Club, Notting Hill (Bar / Restaurant / Club)
“Went to the Gate last night for Dinner with friends. We were greeted as soon as we went in, and the helpful barmaid offered us a cocktail list, but she also offered to create a bespoke drink to our taste. All were superb. my gin, lime and blueberry cassis hit the spot on a hot summer night. The menu consists of tapas style international food so we chose several to share. All were home made, fresh and delicious. home made spring rolls to start would put many a chinese restaurant to shame! Foie Gras on home made bread melted in the mouth. Mini burgers and hotdogs - unusual but very tasty. All of this accompanied by reasonably priced house wine and cool tunes from the decks. All staff were knowledgable and very friendly. Add to all this you can drink into the small hours - What else could you want! Notting Hill's finest!”

“Food is awful, chef is rude and the staff are surly and unhelpful. Avoid the mayflower if you value good food and good serice and value for money.”

“Not a bad time if your looking for some good music (rap and rock definately from the 90´s). There are some good looking boys, and a hell of a lot of good dancing. The bar tenders are, ummm , shall i say friendly... damn hot... and put on a hell of an act.”

The North Star, Ealing (Bar)
“Best pub in Ealing, I can say that categorically. Good range of beers from mainstream Carling to others that I can't spell. Sublime range of tunes to put a smile on your face and create a relaxed atmosphere. Comfy chairs inside or plenty of benches outside making it ideal for lazy summer evenings. Prices are pretty standard for London @ £2.70 a pint for Amstel. Full of your trendy twentysomethings as well as myself, you can relax knowing Edwards and the Townhouse keep the burberry clan away.”

Piano, Kensington (Bar / Restaurant)
“Oh my goodness what a bar! I have been attending the bawdy proceedings at Piano for sometime now and cannot praise it enough. Firstly it is in the very nice Kenny High st dahlings and from the moment you get in there you can feel the warmth from Bazz and the staff. As with all things it is people who make this bar and every visit brings new friends with no attitude other than from the old joanna that Bazz carresses into life. Just go there.”

“I had a ball of a time. We celebrated my birthday at Zyrus and found it difficult to leave at the end of the night. Will definitely go back. Read the review and must say I find the bar staff most competent and friendly. There's one barman who makes a killer Mai Tai, unfortunately he could not mend my hangover the next morning.”

“I think that any place where the waiters give you a very relaxing aikkido massage right after you've got heartburn from very stupidly downing a flaming lambourghini (and it was a sunday, what was i thinking) deserves my props and a big tip. anyway the mohitos were awesome so i';ll be back, but just maybe not for flaming lambos. I hope ive got the right jazz bar. i kinda forgot where i was after all that. ”
