Backcounter Lounge Vauxhall Station, South Lambeth Road, London, SW8 1SR (Map)

BackCounter is a great discovery in Vauxhall. We went on a Friday night. We had great cocktails, especially the Notre Dame was fantastic. The cocktails have Soho prices, but they are also very strong.... More Atmosphere: Value: Quality:

“This place is a con. Shafted my partner out of £12,000 for a private show (nowt else, and even then, I wouldn't expect it to be £12,000)! Looking at other reviews, £600 seems to be the highest con. Other reviews say the girls steal from you too. All very sleazy and poorly run. Money is all they care about, not value for customers! Police were involved in my partner's scam!”

““ABSOLUTELY DREADFUL” 1 of 5 stars Pending review A group of four of us dropped into this establishment last wed for lunch. We were impressed by the style & cleanliness& the fact that the staff took our drinks & food order at the table.Uhfortunately 20 mins later things started to go wrong We were informed by the waiter that they were unable to make the sandwiches as they had no avocado This was at 1pm ???We revised the orders to steak sandwiches. After 25 mins I asked what had happened to the drinks.Thew waiter sated that the "ticket" had been lost & he would personally prepare them.Drinks duly arrived. After 3/4 of an hour the steaks arrived They consisded of 4 slices of plain white bread with miniscule pieces of thin beef served cold with piles of onion on top. .The waiter returned to ask us about our meal,We responded saying steak should be served hot not ice cold & additionally it was gristly .The gristle was on display on one of the plates.I advised him that he neede to tell "The Management" that these problems needed addressing. He duly returned & said the chef had told him the meat was cold as it had been put in a "Marinade" I have never heard of anything so ridiculous .No comment was made regarding the "gristle"What planet are these people from ??We directed our complaint for management to address. They failed to see us personally Complaints are for management to resolve they are paid to deal with complaints. You don't put that responsibility on the serving staff they are not paid for it.Unfortunately its becoming more & more evident management keep out of the way of complaints .The prices charged in this establishment are high .Thats fine if the service & quality of food are good .Here its not so .My suggestion is that the "Management" go to Weatherspoons & learn a few basic lessons .We wont be back take my advice "Avoid" Visited June 2016 ”

“I had my first curry in 1967 a year after it opened. I then went overseas for 11 years and to my delight upon my return to Fulham my curry house was still there, but now larger the sons of the owner were all grown up and to my delight again thy remembered me. Now the Grandsons are in charge and are carrying on with quality in every aspect of the modern eating house, great food, great beer and wine, great team and great service.”

“I came here for a business lunch. Bad service and business lunches don't go together. For one, I didn't want to ave to keep interrupting my meeting to chase the coffee I had to ask for FIVE times. Second, it was embarrassing. Third, they kept failing to refill my water glass yet refused to leave the jug on the table. Why ration tap water?! Then the waiter brought the bill without me asking for it even though we hadn't finished. The poached eggs were cold and tasted of vinegar. Crap! ”

“Firstly, if you're considering going to this pretentious hole "DONT!!" I think the door staff must get their people training skills from ISIS! To the lady (or should I say daughter of Satan) who wields the clipboard and supposed power of entry; if you gain 1% more people skills that will be a 100% improvement on your current approach! In short, you are possibly the most ill mannered, discriminating human being (if I could even call you a human being) that I've met. If the owner of the club actually knew how you treat potential clients, he/she would be disgusted. Keeping you as their 'host' is quite simply 'loosing them business'. Whilst accepting this is a members club, perhaps you don't need any more clientele?! In which case you should retain 'Cruella de Vil' on the door as she will certainly ward-off any potential future customers!! PS - Never judge a book by its cover. You never know, one day someone might open another club across the street just to put you out of business! Enough said...”

“Worse ever Indian. I ordered food for takeaway took a while before someone decided to pick up the phone, after speaking to three different people, finally one person who spoke bit of English took my order, been told it will take one hour for delivery. Finally food arrived which was cold and tasteless. £5.00 for two tiny Seekh kebabs with no flavor and extremely cold. mint sauce with hardly any mint or yoghurt seems like they put bit of supermarket mint sauce in milk which was more runnier than water. Chicken Jalfrezi with tree tiny pieces of chicken and the rest of the container filled with curry paste sauce, which seems like heat up in microwave for hour. King Jumbo prawn, what a joke, hardly found any prawns in there manage to find couple of prawns, which were over cooked and did not tasted like prawns, worse prawns i have ever tried in fact the worst Indian food i have ever tried... DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY THERE”
