The Loose Box 51 Horseferry Road, London, SW1P 2AA (Map)

A bar that i hadn't noticed pop up, until I ended up going there for afterwork refreshment nearly every week. A great addition to the bars of Westminster - it offers a relaxed and unprentious atmosphere... More Atmosphere: Value: Quality:

“Cheap good quality food and fast service. Drinks are pricier upstairs but Jazz performers were great so it was worth the money.”

“The place is nice. I had a quiche for lunch and it was tasty. Prices were excellent. I also really liked the flat white coffee - if you're a kiwi like me, then ul know straight away that this place has a kiwi owner. Only thing i can say is that they REALLY need to add a little more 'kiwi' food and beverage to the menu - eg: feijoa juice. They also really need to put another toilet somewhere. I had to wait for ages to go....”

“I found this place to be absolutely awful. We were greeted by a very grumpy old man. He scowled at me and answered me curtly when i asked if there they had any herbal teas available and then when i asked for skim milk with my tea, he acted like i was some kind of fussy freak. We were sitting outside to start with but it was a bit cold so we moved inside... which was also reciprocated with a feeling like we were 'hassling' them and i felt like he just couldn't be bothered with us. my friend ordered a pizza which was nice. I ordered a salad which quite frankly was utter crap. They brought me the wrong salad to start with and then there was so much dressing on i hardly ate it. I think the waiter was even embarrassed about what he brought out to me. I felt embarrassed eating it. I was really pissed off and quite frankly I will never go there again.”

“Great weekend venue cos you can eat and drink here, relax in their cocktail bar before or after your food without having to change places! I love picking at their skewers, dumplings and tempura before treating myself to one of their cocktails!”

“I went here once as we were passing through the area but i wouldn't make an effort to go back again. Considering the avalon is so popular I wonder how the managers aren't making the bolingbroke just as good.”

“this is an excellent italian restaurant. We were there during the week and the place was full with such a lovely atmosphere. Food is very tasty and the menu has such a lovely variety and not the usual stuff that you find in almost all the italian restaurant. Highly recommended.”

“I met a load of mates here last week for a free Dan Le Sac Vs Scroobious Pip gig that was put on by XFM radio DJ, John Kennedy (who also DJ’d on the night). An awesome night and a brilliant venue. Who knew Tooting could have such a find. Top tunes, quick service at the abr, good choice of drinks, happy friendly people and possibly the most gorgeous bar ladies south of the river. My new favourite hangout.”

Heaven, Soho (Bar / Club)
“This is fast becoming one of THE places to go for live music in London. Heaven is usually known for its dance music clubbing vibe, in particular the gay scene, but myself and a mate saw The View play here the other night and had a great time. The sound is pretty good and it’s easy to get served. The clientele are always up for a laugh too. Not just an Oonst-Oonst club, it’s also an air guitar club.”

“It was my Hen night in March 2010 and we all had an absolutely amazing time. We did not have to leave the room as the cocktails (which were very tasty) were brought in. All the staff looked really well after us and we even had a cheeky dance in the bar. Bsically loved it and am coming back again soon. thank you”

“Our wedding party at the Lounge could not have been better. The organisation was excellent, the service was wonderful and the food, as ever, was delicious. It was great that we could customise the menu for our party of 35 people, and Philippe was really helpful and flexible regarding the table arrangements and seating plan. Manuela was the perfect host and made sure everyone received a glass of champagne on arrival (which was great because we ended up arriving a little late!). A big heartfelt thank you to all the staff at the Lounge.”

“Went to Rodizio Rico last night and actually found the staff to be rather pleasant, drinks came thick and fast and the service was brilliant was very full quickly. If you want great service from this place I would suggest going Monday - Thursday as I know on Friday - Sunday they are very busy & service will probably be a little under what it is supposed to be. The only thing I would say to people going is don't fill up on the buffet as the meat is great....”

“This has got to be one of my kids favourite venues, we often go for a late weekend lunch and order different plates for everyone to share. The sushi has helped to expand their taste buds and they all love any of the dishes with seaweed now!”

“This is an old favourite, you can tell by the old diners. Would come here with my folks, especially if they were footing the bill. Did have some great wine though (some bottles over 1000 quid each!)and the pancake desert was brilliant!”

“Possibly one of the best views in London - where else can you see the BT Tower, London Eye and Battersea Power Station as well as a fantastic view of the Thames? Right next to Vauxhall bridge and the MI5 building this has to be up there as being one of those places a little off the beaten track but well worth it.”

“Four of us booked for dinner on Saturday night which turned out to be pretty much of a disaster. Started badly when we were advised against the house wine which was said to be 'horrible'. We thought the house wine represented the house! Starters were adequate but nothing special. Our mains arrived after over an hour wait - 2 sea bass, both badly overcooked, dry and unappetising, calves liver and bacon also overcooked and hard. My rabbit casserole was undercooked and it was impossible to remove the meat from the bones, and bones was what I mainly had, no haunch. We sent all the mains back and asked for the bill. This arrived almost immediately, unlike the food, and the proprietor had removed the cost of the mains. Bill still came to £100 for 4 starters and wine. Will avoid this place in future.”

“My son booked this as a treat for us and I have never been so disappointed. The plates were cold. The food was boring and the chips tasted like Aunt Bessie's. My husband had what was supposed to be a 10 oz steak which was nothing like 10 oz. I had the Mini Sliders which were tasteless. We had cheese and biscuits for £7.50 and got 25p worth of dried up cheese. My daughter had Tiramisu which was heavy and very supermarket standard. There was no loo paper in any of the ladies toilets the windows were absolutely filthy. I am amazed that John Torode thinks he can judge other chefs when he is producing such rubbish himself.”

“This place totally rocks atmosphere wise!!! Awesome live music and such a great crowd of eclectic people. Just love it. I had such a good night. The drinks could be improved on though - i ordered a vodka and lemonade, and they gave it to me in one of those mini bottles so that when i had poured it into my glass it was only three quarters full. I had to ask them to top it up with soda water. and it didn;t even have any lemon in it. i didn't appreciate that.”
