The Gun 27 Cold Harbour, Docklands, London, E14 9NS (Map)

What a bloody good place the gun is. I had the partridge which was excellent & ended up finishing off a good claret, relaxing in an armchair in front of a roaring fire. Not many places in London... More Atmosphere: Value: Quality:

“The worst place in London. £8 to get in. Super expensive drinks (£8.80 for a double vodka and splash of coke in plastic glass) and the place closes at 2am on the dot. Its terrible and you will have the worst night.”

“Went to church in 1995, and was so lucky to have the female stripper pick me to give her a oil massage - to my misfortune, she poured oil all over my hands and arms only to leave me without letting me massage her. Still some of the best trips ever...”

The Hide Bar, London Bridge & Bermondsey (Bar)
“After about half a dozen successful visits I can confirm that the Hide is a very decent spot for a few weeknight beverages, with lots of attention to detail both in the drinks and the environment making it stand out from more run-of-the-mill bar offerings. The owners are obviously very fussy about what they offer their customers, with an impressive range of interesting beers, great cocktails and an extensive wine list where even the cheaper end is good quality (pretty rare in my experience!) Definitely a valuable addition to the fast-growing enclave of bars and restaurants around Bermondsey Street and certainly worth a visit if you want to try somewhere a bit different.”

“...I used to be a regular there... used to be a good laugh, good atmosphere. BUT the Straights have invaded, and YET again ruined it. Don't go there!”

The Bridge Lounge & Dining Room, London Bridge & Bermondsey (Bar / Restaurant)
“The food is nice, but the place is always a bit dead during the week and the weekend. It's a bit quiet, which is good if you want to have a meal without being disturbed. Bad if you want to socialise. I went to the Bridge last Saturday and we were the only people in the bar for three hours! It also seems a bit stuffy. I can't help but think the place would attract more customers if it loosened up it's image. It's poshness is liable to alienate a lot of customers who are just looking for a relaxing night out.”

Da Remo, Uxbridge & Ruislip (Restaurant)
“This is quite simply the best rstaurant I have ever eaten in; food was exquisite, service fantastic, waiters immaculate. I have dined around the world but never better than in Da Remo's. I had heard it was good but found it to be outstanding. Wines can be expensive but they are also very good quality. Highly recommended.”

“This place has gone down hill in a big way. They let way too many people in. I used to go here most weekends but wouldnt go back if you paid me. The bar staff seem look right through you when you're trying to get served. I complained to the doorman when a drunk guy smashed into our table and knocked all off our drink off the table. We had only just brought the round £40 plus and the doorman told me, i watch the door not clean up tables. When i mentioned that it was his job to sort drunk idiots he ignored me. We left straight after that. Just for the record i spoke with a doorman and asked him what the maximum number of people where allowed indoors and he said they never count and he's never been told too.”

“I booked an area 4 weeks in advance for my birthday and when we arrived i was told there had been a mix up and no area had been reserved for me, which was a real pain as there where about 14 of us. The barman told me he would sort out an area for us shortly. 8 of my friends couldnt get in the bar as it was so full. 1.5 hours later nothing had been sorted out. My partner was short changed by £10 when she got some drinks and when she complained she was told I DONT THINK SO!! after this incident we all left and found it hard to find anywhere decent for 14 people in Soho on a Saturday night. Completley ruined my night out. I wrote to the bar to express my dissapointment and still havent had a reply. Stay well clear!!”

The Exhibit, Balham (Bar / Restaurant)
“Maybe I went to a different restaurant to everyone else who has reviewed Exhibit but I am certain it’s the same place! A group of 15 booked a table for 8.15pm on Saturday. On arriving, the table was not ready. Half an hour later, we were invited back to the restaurant. The décor and atmosphere were good and first impressions that the menu was appealing. We started by ordering wine. The waitress took our wine order but 5 minutes later we were told that the Pinot Noir was out of stock – this would become a theme for the evening. Almost 20 minutes later our food order was finally taken. We were only then informed after ordering that the oysters & sirloin steak were also out of stock. Finally, after having to suddenly rush our decision, we settled back to enjoy the food. After another 20 minutes or so the starters began to appear. The garlic prawn special at over £7 consisted of four minute prawns surrounded by wilted lettuce. These were promptly sent back & a free bottle of wine was offered. The replacement prawn cocktail was the worst I have ever had. The squid starter was rubbery and the yellow fin tuna starter was hardly visible to the naked eye– none of this was cheap. The main courses were poor. The surf and turf was served with yet more prawns and not lobster. The steak was chewy. The green beans were under cooked and stringy (and extra). The meal came to £50 a head – west end prices for sub standard food & service. I would never consider eating in this restaurant again.”

Jewel, Soho (Bar / Restaurant / Club)
“Hired the Ruby Room in Piccadily Jewel. Had a brilliant party. Moneur the manager there made sure everything was perfect for us. Our waiter Noel was lovely, kind and efficent. The female bartender made amazing cocktails and we hired DJ Lloyd through their fabulous events co-ordinater Ewa. Our guest (all in TV and Film) commented on how chic and comfortable the venue was and how nice to have friendly, helpful staff instead of the usual stuck up, unhelpful staff you can get in Soho bars. I cannot reccomend this place enough. The location is easy to get to. Beautiful decor and good food and drinks and fabulous staff.”

“Excellent service and splendid decor, food very good (try the lamb its my favourite). Definitely worth going again. Nice atmosphere at the Champagne bar. Hip young crowd. Listing gives this as Scandinavian cuisine cant really see that, perhaps ingredients are but not the cuisine itself, I would say European fusion.”

“I haven't been to this pub for a couple of years basically because it lost its bounce. I was pleasantly surprised to stumble across it one thursday evening and to find that it had been re-fitted and had re-discovered its energy. It looks fabulous, all wood and nice warming colours, has wonderfully pretty bar staff (though i had had a few and went on to have a few more) and serves a good selection of drinks, finally it was open 'til 2am which was nice for a non poncey bar in central london, what wasn't so good was my hangover and b***ocking from my boss for being an hour late the next day.”
