Red Rooms 4 Great Queen Street, Covent Garden, Holborn, London, WC2B 5DG (Map)

Good venue to go to. First heard of it via grand parties review on it. It was a good venue and just like they said, it is a nice place to go to, reasonable drinks and a great crowd! Could be a little more... More Atmosphere: Value: Quality:

“Went for a quick lunch with a colleague before going back to the royal courts next door. I have to say it was a delightful lunch at only £17.50. I used to frequent this restaurant on and off before the refurbishment but now it looks very smart and the food is fantastic for the price. I would highly recommend it. Nice to find a regular haunt!”

“Without a doubt the best Sunday lunch in the area. Plus the Water Poet has an enormous garden to lounge in too. Fabulous.”

“Being now a regular at this venue, Bar Red has finally defined its targetted ambience. The cocktails are most definitely the best I have tasted in my life. It is a shame though, that the level of service has dropped in the last few months. Despite the good quality of the drinks, this does not make up for a slow waitress.”

“This place is great - totally non attitude, specialist events in the basement (such as City Boys 1st Friday of each month), very friendly staff. The ground floor bar is also good; ignore miserable sods who give it a bad review; if you're gay and a bit tired of Soho, give this place a try. Reckon there'll be something there for you, whatever mood you're in.”

“Booked some tables for my leaving do at Thirst... for free I might add. Half price cocktails really got the party going and a short stay after work turned into a 3 am finish! Great fun and wicked music. Great for meeting after work BUT beware the Thirst effect which means you stay out way too late!! Fabulous night out.”

“Went for business lunch recently. The pub is fantstic. We sat in the dining room and was served by some brillant and friendly staff who recommended both a dish to try and wine which would complement it. Both were super choices and drinks and food served quickly for the quality. We've booked again for next week!! The stars will not change when trying to do my rating, but i would score 4 out of 5 for atmosphere and value and 5 out of 5 for quality of food and drink!”

“A little gem - not the stuffy place you would imagine. Good restaurant design, young attentive staff, excellent food and very good value. Great Bar after work too, make a pleasent change from the usual pubs and bars in the area.”

“I went to the Ivy for my birthday and found the place very disappointing. As noted below, yes the fries do seem to come out of a frozen packet. The Bang Bang Chicken had no bang at all, just small pieces of dull chicken covered in a peanut butter sauce! The ravioli was just terrible. When ordering I asked the waiter for some fries, he corrected me that they were called chips! Then when he brought them to the table he said, here are the Fries! I am not sure if he was making fun of me! Overall very disappointing, makes you wonder why the rich and famous bother to go, unless of course when they arrive it changes! It also seemed the waiter was doing us a favour in serving us, very poor and unattentive and the place was only half full!”

Firezza, Clapham (Restaurant)
“Exceptional Italian Pizza. I regularly order pizza from the Lavender Hill Branch of Firezza. The pizzas come by the half metre and I tend to order 1/4 metre Margarita, as their's is the best I have found outside of Italy, well as one of the more interesting pizzas on the other 1/4 metre. The variety of pizzas is incredible, they offer many vegetarian options, quality meats and the ingredients are all so fresh. Firezza offer a few salad options, while there aren't many to choose from they are all very fresh and perky. I am a big fan of thier pizza bases and the fact you can indulge in their pizza without feeling too glutinous, other resturants tend to be a bit overzealous with thier cheese. Firezza offer cheese-free and a 'skinny' option. Gets my vote every time! The service is good, although they are often busy but will let you know if you will have to wait.”

“One of the best and biggest garden bars in London. They are now doing a great bbq Friday evenings and Saturday and Sunday from 2.30pm, great food. 3-4 min walk form Brixton Tube or 8min from Clapham high st. Friendly and fun staff, all very relaxed in a professional manner. Great hidden treasure of the busy roads.”

“Undoubtedly the best cocktail venue in Clapham Junction. As a former Junction resident, this was my local and I could not speak highly enough of the place. The two guys that own this fantastic little bar, which is a small chain, just know how to do things right. Happy Hour is every day from 5-8 and the cocktails are just fantastic. It also boast a late licence, which is a rarity for a bar in Clapham Junction. Great music, friendly crowd and fabulous cocktails - what more could you ask for?”

“The Dove is a nice little place to eat and have drinks, and relax, surrounded by recollections, and history, and the Great River settings. T. S. Eliot's phrase on History being "Now and England" sounds very true there.”

“Although Friday night was very busy, the service wass very bad - all the waiters are rude and not cheerful. They advertise that they serve meat, all we got offered was chicken wings, chicken hearts and garlic bread in 45 minute even though we saw some waiters walking around with nice joints of meat. The bill was £50 it would’ve been cheaper if I went to the pub and ordered a steak and most probably better service. Staff kept on asking if we finished and cleared our plates every 5 minutes as if they wanted us to leave and we had only been in the restaurant for 20 minutes - will never go back.”

Picture of Hi Sushi, Soho, London

Hi Sushi, Soho (Restaurant)
“I had been looking for an all-you-can-eat-sushi place in London for some time now, as the last time I ate sushi it set me back over £40, personally more than I would like to spend on a plate of raw fish for lunch. I was very excited to hear about Hi Sushi and their all-you-can-eat offer, and a couple of days ago I set off down to Frith St. in Soho to eat sushi and hopefully for the first time in my life feel full after eating. I arrived at the restaurant at 4pm, only to be greeted with a polite reminder that the buffet offer didn’t start until 5.30pm. I was too hungry to go home, so I killed an hour and a half in Soho, a feat more difficult than you can imagine as a) I was very, very hungry, and b) it was raining like it was judgment day and my shoes and socks and feet were completely soaked by the time I returned to Hi Sushi. So if you do fancy all-you-can-eat-sushi, make sure you arrive after 5.30pm on weekdays, and after 12.30pm on Saturdays. The restaurant is small and plainly decorated. Upstairs are a few high tables with fixed stools, and downstairs you sit on cushions on the floor. I was dining alone, so I sat upstairs. I’m not sure how much sitting on cushions is my thing anyway! I was given two sheets of paper, one for an assortment of salmon based sushi (and some vegetarian options), and one sheet for a variety of fried hot foods. The sushi is unlimited but the fried options were not, and you can only order from the fried menu once. There were about 12 choices”

Baroque, Ealing (Bar / Restaurant / Club)
“Baroque is the best place to go in Ealing - friendly, free to get in, open late, good cocktails and great food - it's my new local! There's a real mix of customers but at the weekend we had a banging night, the DJ played a good mix of funky & R&B - loved it - highly recommend the mojito - has to be the best outside central London! We'll be back”
