The Sun Inn, Barnes & Sheen (Bar)
“Was here last night (Tuesday eveving) and the place was a little dead. I think management seazed the opportunity to train up the new staff as the service was a little lacking / unprofessional. The food however was very good (even if the menu was a little short) and the wines excellent. Just a shame the guy behind the bar stuffed up my bill and then gave the impression sorting it out was just a little too much hassle.”

“It sounds like Liz definitely had a bad experience. I feel however that I need to add a short comment to balance up the score for BRB as I visit often. On all my visits pretty much everything has been OK - not exceptional - but OK. Now this may not sound like a reason to visit, but so many places nearby are s**t and charge a fortune. Give BRB a chance.”

Bridge House, Maida Vale & St Johns Wood (Bar)
“Being such a picturesque area you would be forgiven for thinking there would be hundreds of great bars and pubs located in and around Little Venice. Alas there are very few places to enjoy a drink while surveying the canal boats as they work their way back and forward along the canal
Fortunately there is The Bridge House - a very nice gastro pub perched one Westbourn Terrace Road. And The Bridge House
isn't just nice because competition is scarce, it is in fact very tastily decorated,
offers a good selection on wines, spirits and beers and good gastro pub grub.
The staff were attentive, friendly and knowledgeable when we visited on Saturday
night. Dishes on offer included Mushroom and Pinenut Risotto, Smoked Haddock Fish
Cakes and Spinach and Ricotta Ravioli - all around £8. Chilled dance music washed
over us as we reclined on an odd selection of mismatch tables, benches and comfy chairs. The other diners and drinks seemed to be 'cool' variety and seemed to be treating The Bridge House as an extension of their own homes. People came and
went but the place never seemed hectic. Well worth a visit.”

We were in the function room upstairs nibbling on Indian finger food and drinking £3 bottles of Tiger. Not asked to leave until 1am I guess we must have benefitted from a late license or was it simply that we were in a restaurant? Answers on a postcard too...”

“Yep this is a great bar. Loads of seating, a nice crowd, great new menu and of course fantastic reviews over the river. My only complaint would be the attitude of the staff at chucking out time - it is rather unpleasant having someone screaming at you from 11.01 to finish up and get out.”

O'Neill's (closed), Richmond & Kew (Bar)
“Avoid - another fine example of a London bar being up their own arse. "Let's make everyone queue unnecessarily outside for hours so we look important.” Bollox to that – when it comes to parting my with my hard earned cash I’ll be mainly choosing a place that seems a little keen and grateful for it. What possessed me to even consider drinking in the McDonald’s of pubs I’m not sure – not a mistake I’ll be making again soon I promise.”

The Bridge Pub & Dining Room, Hammersmith (Bar / Restaurant)
“We popped in for a meal on Saturday night and were very pleasantly surprised. The food was excellent - comprising good ingredients and and skillfully brought togther in the compact kitchen behind the bar to form dishes normally only seen in quality restaurants.
The staff were both attentive and friendly and the wines fine. Perhaps an ideal venue for a pre- night out drink - with the t only downside being you may spend all night here. Well recommended.”

The Queen Vic, Stratford (Bar)
“A typical East End pub: basic food, basic drinks, patronised by local market stall holding types. What does distinguish this place from others in the area is the entertainment - and I'm not talking about karaoke but instead the activities of the regulars. Hardly a day seems to pass without a fight, a birthday, the reuniting of a father an child separated for years, etc. Never a dull moment.”
