“Excellent pub opposite Smithfield meat market. Serves the full range of Sheperd Neame beers. Food Served lunchtimes is of the wholesome kind typical of the area. Not cheap but definately good value. Closed weekends”

“Now under New owners and what a difference they now a regular supply of beer most of which is thoroughly enjoyable. The Regular bands I wonder when and where Guy saw them have long gone. The Thai lady and your family still provide the most excellant and reasonably priced food around. The intermittent quiz has run every Monday night for the last 8 or more years and over the biggest cash prizes anywhere and its free entry. Lots of TV screens showing sport and they also have a large screen. It has been smartened up but still has that lived in feeling. Good value for money with many cheep offers on varing nights.”

Artillery Arms, Shoreditch (Bar)
“Excellent Fullers Pub popular with the soldiers next door. The Locals and the city types. Beer is almost always in excellent nick with London Pride Chiswick and ESB on offer. Not a foodie pub although they do offer a limited range. One drawback is that it very small and at busy times especially in the winter its uncomfortable.”

“A pub split between the trendy crowd and regulars it appears not to be aiming for one or the other - so satisfies no one. Food disapointing considering what their website promises. One real ale Directors OK but nothing to want me to go again.”

“Why is this in the Good Beer Guide. OK it has two Real Ales but they can be iffy as it really is a lager house. Foods OK but cheap and cheerful.”

Wenlock Arms, Shoreditch (Bar)
“This without a doubt is a little gem. Talk about living in another World. Tucked away on a small industrial estate just off City Road, you will struggle to find a more friendly pub anywhere. Not only is it the cheapest around but it serves an ever changing range of 6 real ales, a mild and real cider you know the sort two pints and your crawling on your hands and knees. Doorstep sandwiches to die for The Saltbeef is a speciality and only £3 to boot. Quiz night is thursday at 9pm Jazz Blues or Rock ''n'' roll at the weekends. They even have a real fire A Cricket Team of sorts Darts If you''ve never been to a true English back street local and would like to know what one is, seek this one out. Guaranteed not to disappoint. ”

“Most people are right should be a great place but is sadly lacking. They don''t brew their own beer either as some people think, this is done by The Great PITFIELD Brewery which is not a million miles away. Why do the staff NOT smile. Maybe they pay to work there just for the experience. If this is how the other half live I''ll give it a miss and stay round the corner at The Wenlock.”
