Cafe Espana, Soho (Restaurant)
“Cafe Espana is one of those hidden gems that if you were just walking past you might blink and miss it. Always really busy with people waiting on the street for tables, you won't mind the wait when they bring you a complimentary glass of bubbles or vino! Firstly I must say, one of the best features of Cafe Espana is the service. Run by friendly Spaniards from northern Spain, its really like your local friendly Spanish restaurant but hidden in the heart of Soho. The tapas is great and paella BIG and very tasty. The wine list is small but being in the restaurant reminds you of being in Spain (well except for the temperature) so it's all good. Make friends with the waiters and they will treat you like a Queen (or King). I'll be back... Estaré detrás”

The Peacock Bar & Club (closed), Clapham (Bar / Club)
“I so wanted the Peacock bar to be good, but there was too many disappointments outweighing the good points! Positive points were the concept, great decoration, plenty of bar space and the entertainment. Bad points? The night we went there were 3 hen parties and in such a small space with all those drunken ladies fighting for the pole to swing around, it just wasn't the nicest atmosphere. Good if you're a guy looking to pick up a girl dressed in a corset, heels & pants! When you have that many ladies and only 2 toilets with the pokiest space to access the mirror things were not looking up. The bar, although sparce and the cocktail list large, unfortunately the service was slow and barmen had to check the cocktail list to see what was in ALL of the cocktails we requested! Although the entertainment was good, there was a 10 min wait between songs and it was the smallest stage I have ever seen so the poor entertainer was limited to a 1m square box. When a venue prides itself on its entertainment you would hope they would pay more attention to those details! This venue has potential, just needs to sort out a few of the finer details...”

Roka, Fitzrovia (Bar / Restaurant)
“What can I say, Roka is amazing. The food is second to none - dreamy, melt in your mouth fish, loved the big windows on the corner and the big woonden benches surrounding the open kitchen. The service was impeccable, we're talking about waiters who actually know what they are talking about and who know the correct way to serve at a table, attentive yet discreet. Presentation of the food was great, carved ice chunks to hold the sashimi and the wine list was extensive and of course a wine recommended for each dish. Roka is definitely one of the best Japanese restaurants I have ever eaten at and would go back again. If you're looking to impress - choose Roka.”

Marco Polo, Putney (Restaurant)
“Modern & traditional Italian food in a fantastic location along the river in Putney. Especially great on the deck with the sun shining and a bottle of wine from the good selection offered. Food is fresh & tasty, portions are a good size so you can get away with 3 courses & wine without breaking the bank (or the button on your favourite trousers)!”

Imli Street (closed), Soho (Bar / Restaurant)
“Imli has a great concept to change the way you eat Indian food. Gone are the days where you order a curry and fill up on rice & naan. At Imli they've taken the tapas from the Spanish and offer a range of dishes with great flavours and an array of colours. Make sure you're hungry when you go if you take up the waiters suggestion of 6 tapas dishes to share between 2. Need to work on their cocktails but the staff were friendly & attentive. Little bit pricey but then you get that in Soho. Sit in the front section so you avoid the crashing dishes and watching your curry vibrate off the table.”

The George, Soho (Bar)
“Small pub in the heart of Soho, good place to grab a drink after work if you don't mind standing outside with the smokers! Limited seating inside due to the size of the bar but friendly bar staff makes a change from most city bars. Be wary of the small Ladies loos and the small stairs to get there.”
