Fluid Reviews

The Perseverance, Bloomsbury (Bar)
“check it out - perseverance is a classy young crowd kind of pub which appears to be full of nurses and policemen (funny that). good choice if you don't want your drinking disturbed by the snores of the old drunk in the corner or the slobber of the land-lords long as you can stomach the wall paper that is. it masquerades as the drawing room of a country manor house and has a drinks cabinet to match.”

The Blue Lion, Kings Cross (Bar)
“Recently refurbished - offers a different type of venue for this immediate area. Conveniently located for transport links with Kings Cross and Holborn just 5 mins walk away. Open late, no entry fee and doesn''t ever seem to be too busy if you''re a go out , sit down type of person. Two girls loos and cashback which is always a bonus.”

Beduin, City of London (Bar / Restaurant / Club)
“Beautiful, beautiful. Attention to detail second to none gives this moorish venue a pretty special vibe. Hot and very grown up music, 'buy me another' cocktails, sexy staff, mirror mosaics, the sultry glow of redness and oooo, the chandalier hanging over it all impresses me. Perfect for parties (upstairs on the balcony), charming for chilling (squishy and usefully laid out seating on the ground floor) and dapper for dancing (downstairs near the DJ). The damn place even does good food - anything else sir? Perhaps a few camels? If you haven't been yet, why not?”

Museum Tavern, Bloomsbury (Bar)
“Another of those classic, peekaboo frosted glass windows type of London pubs which vies with tourists to retain its old world charm, and just about manages it. Standard and reasonably priced grub accompanies unremarkable beverages, but if you're looking for a discrete or remarkable venue I'd leave it to the tourists to battle out between themselves whether or not it would be peculiarly un-English to share a table with strangers. Worth a quick visit if you're on the wrong side of Oxford Sreeet for Soho or have got lost on the way back to Kings Cross.”

Jazz Cafe, Camden (Bar)
“Catering for a mixed crowd (eat a la carte on the upstairs balcony or chill out with decent and cheap bar dishes downstairs) the Jazz Cafe presents the hippest, jazziest artists around. Be prepared for up close and personal sashaying late into the evening and frenzied encores which leave the audience baying sophisticatedly for even more..”
