The Pilot, Chiswick & Brentford (Bar / Restaurant)
“owned by the same happy peeps as the stonemasons, pilot is a similar formula successfully repeated in this quiet location. definately more of a local''s place filled with late twenty and thirty-somethings ''fashionista'' types. it''s more focused towards being a restaurant than a pub, but when it gets busier the bar area is filled with people out for a drink. but the food is the main reason for going. it''s superb. starters are verging on main portion size and are outstanding. mains are fantastic and the menu changes frequently. quality and service is better than the stonemasons... superb range of beer (leffe, hoegaarden and staropramen on tap), good wine and other drinks on par for the type of establishement. prices are slightly under the stonemasons, so it''s well worth the walk / taxi down there. the only downside is that it is a little bright. if you like gastropubs, do try it!”

“Superb gastro-pub with excellent beer, food and atmosphere! Full of people that look the part, it's a great mix of excellent pub and excellent restaurant. They've got the atmosphere just right. Service is excellent. Food is very good indeed. The Stonemasons is well worth spending a night in with friends - a superb place for all beautiful people ;-) Prices are acceptable - not cheap (but you do get top quality). Good range of beer and wine that's well kept and served. For an alternative (with slightly better food) try the Anglesea Arms towards Shepherds Bush, but don't expect such a large or swanky venue as the Stonemasons.”

“Top quality Gastro-pub! The menu is created daily (there's a big chalkboard), the food is excellently prepared by the kitchen that is just off the dining room and the restaurant area is smallish with a great atmosphere. Beer is pricey (hoegaarden and leffe amongst other fine offerings) and the wine list is pretty good too. Eating there is an expereience - you can't book, so you have to get to the pub for about 6ish on a popular day (friday / saturday) to reserve a table. 've noticed that when you get your food, a few drinkers in the bar will wander over to the edge of the restaurant area and look at your dinner with very jealous eyes! There is alledgedly a second sitting in the evenings... If you like the Stonemasons Arms in Hammersmith, give this place a whirl! It's along the same lines, but more personal and cosy.”
