Mimouza Moroccan Restaurant, Shepherds Bush (Bar / Restaurant)
“Although I've always found Morocco intriguing, I've never really spent much time learning about its customs or its culture, much less its famous cuisine. So when I headed into Mimouza, a Moroccan restaurant on Shepherd’s Bush Green (West London), I had one of the most pleasant surprises of my dining year. Trying to read the names of most of the dishes was beyond me, but our charming waiter handled them with ease and helped us get to our desired choices. However, checking out the descriptions, we found that it was going to be difficult to select because so many things seemed appealing. Luckily, there was MEZZE: a platter of appetizers, so we didn't have to choose in that realm. Zaalouka is a spread of aubergines and tomato with garlic and olive oil. One bite and I was hooked! The tagine Legumes was sizzling with seasonal vegetables, my fiancé chose Chicken tagine: olive oil, fresh garlic and saffron marinated chicken Brest cooked in a broth of lemon, Potatoes and green olives. The space is breath taking and exotically comfortable with Moroccan low and table-seats. The colours of the rooms with real oil paintings of Moroccan native land, and hand woven Berber carpets made all of us wistful to visit Morocco. But as long as Mimouza is around, I won't have to say any strange words to invoke Moroccan magic, just stop in for a bite and experience Mimouza restaurant and its entertainment which comes live with Gnawa band and a taste of live belly dance to end a perfect Moroccan night.”
