The White Cross Review

The White Cross, perched on (and very often nearly completely submerged by) the Thames, provides a wonderful 'old world' alternative to the Pitcher & Pianos and All Bar Ones that those visiting Richmond often make a beeline for.

This Youngs pub has stayed true to traditional drinking and pub grub - why don't more pubs in this area do the same? The staff are friendly and pleased to help. There is a good amount of seating both inside and out and one can not fault the drink or food on offer.

For those wishing to gaze out across the river and the alco-pop-fueled revelers further upstream while enjoying a slow and relaxed drink then the White Cross could well be the perfect choice.

The White Cross Description

We are a Youngs house which sells the traditional ales. In the summer we have alfresco dining looking over the wonderful river Thames and Richmond Bridge.

In the winter we have fireside dining with a rare fireplace under the window one of only a few in the country. Our building is on the Franciscan Friary site!

Great pub with great staff in a wonderful location.

“Having come here on a blissfully hot summers day we were certainly impressed by the friendliness and speed of service. We had some sharing boards which was just what we wanted for a late lunch. Everything was amazing even when we good marooned in the garden the staff came out in their wellies and gave us table service! Great pub, great location and we will return.”

“Lovely pub inside and out. Staff were friendly enough and it's very pleasant having a pint in the sunshine while watching the river and life go by. However I got charged £6.80 for two pints. Not sure if this was a mistake but I was in such shock I paid. Didn't sink in until later.”
