Wildflower Cafe Review

Top 10 things we learnt about the Wildflower Café:

1) Meeting an old friend for brunch and a gossip can be an entirely giggly affair.

2) Having a glass of bucks fizz with brunch makes it an entirely gigglier affair (and really should be a part of all weekend mornings).

3) Wildflower Café makes a good eggs benedict. Somehow - by putting a flower on top of the small salad that accompanies the eggs benedict - the staff are able to make me immediately forget that a hollandaise sauce is about 99% butter, and instead feel that I’m just eating a refreshing and light breakfast, which is also rather delicious.

4) They also branch out slightly with their brunch menu to offer huevos rancheros, the Mexican version of eggs benedict; instead of ham, there is chorizo, instead of English muffins, tortillas, and instead of hollandaise, a tomato sauce.

5) Some people have a knack for making everything look pretty. I don’t, which is why I’ll never become an interior designer, a flower arranger or work at Cath Kidston. Someone at Wildflower Cafe has got pretty down to a T. Everything is white and clean. There are little mirrors on the walls, plants dotted about and even nice looking tea and jam for sale; which all makes you think, “my life will be dinky if I just buy that one thing.”

6) The people match the décor in looking lovely, including a group with a tiny tot. This is Notting Hill after all, but nobody is too glamorous to intimidate us scruffier Londoners.

7) Naturally, they play low jazz and blues in the background. What else would they play in a place like this?

8) There is also cake. Good cake. It looks good, it tastes good. Cake makes a meal better. Brunch with cake and bucks fizz is an exceptional move.

9) One criticism to the lovely Wildflower, from my fellow diner: juice in a glass should not have more ice then juice. We want more juice. Although the beetroot and ginger combo is a great way to wake up your brain and taste buds for the weekend.

10) It’s a lovely place for brunch and I would definitely come back to see if it is lovely for dinner too.
